Happy THursday! I am making a few updates to RER and thought they were going through last night – that’s why I was MIA 🙂

So, let’s catch up shall we?

Mid-afternoon I made my delicious (and pretty!) smoothie in a bowl.IMG_9249 (800x533)

Then, I twiddled my thumbs until dinner. This Trader Joes Orange Chicken has been burning a hole in my freezer calling me to make it!    IMG_9261 (800x533)

But, I find it odd that the package says 5 – 1 cup servings.IMG_9253 (800x533)

When this is obviously not 5 cups?! Boo. IMG_9255 (800x533)

It’s delicious either way <3 Try it if you haven’t!IMG_9265 (800x533)

Ben came home super late last night and I was afraid I was going to eat his orange chicken so I baked!  IMG_9268 (800x533)

I made a pumpkin protein bread that was just okay, so no recipe. IMG_9273 (800x533)

Yesterday I had 0 clients. Today I have 6. The first one is at 7am and the last one is at 7pm. Plus, I have an important mid-day appointment. It’s going to be a busy day 🙂IMG_9288 (600x800)  I’m doing my next round of PT FAQs soon, so ask away in the comments or via email.

Question: Would you rather work 3 – 12 hour days (in a row), 4 – 10 hour days or 5 – 8 hour days?

THIS IS YOUR YEAR.

My work schedule seems to be 5 10-hour days [in school] and more hours [at home]… Hopefully things will calm down after the kiddos and I get into the groove of things!

Your blog is great! I so wish I was a runner… I find it so hard. Your recipes sound and look delicious!… AS for your question, Id rather work 4 days a week. Having 3 day weekends would be AWESOME!!! I also have a health and fitness blog… It would be nice if you would follow me… http://talesofakickboxingbeauty.blogspot.com

3 12 hour days. I like to get things like that over with and enjoy the rest of my time. Like with school, I’d much rather wake up at 7 for class rather than being able to sleep in for a later one.

I do 3 twelve hour shifts a week as a nurse, then i get four days off to do whatever I want. It’s even better because you dont have to take any vacation time to travel because I work in tracks, so Every 3 weeks I get 8 days off in a row!

I wouldnt have it any other way.

      I LOVE TJ ORANGE CHICKEN

You bake yours tho? I throw mine in a nonstick skillet on medium, add the sauce halfway through cooking, and then add stir fry veggie and serve over brown rice 🙂 delish, AND fills you up well because of the veggies 🙂

Definitely 4 10’s. My sister is a nurse and when she does 3 12-hr shifts in a row, she is so tired by the end that on the 4th day she is just recovering and useless! and with a 12 hour day you literally cannot do anything before or after work… and have no motivation to cook dinner. So 4 10’s for me!

Hi, after recently losing 40lbs, i joined a running club last week. We did the 3:1 for 3 miles. I was doing the frankenstein walk and so sore, bought the tiget tail which helped SOO much! What do you recommend as a proper warm up for a novice who up to then walked 2.58 miles tops? Would jumping on my stationary bike for 10 minutes before the meeting help? The meet location is only 4 minutes away? Thanks!!!!

Can you walk to the group? That might work as a warm up. Does the group not warm up together?

The stationary bike is another good idea, try both and see what feels better 🙂

I’d pick 4 10 hour days… When I work 8 hour days I have too much time for TV and whatnot… 10-hour days would force me to be more productive and then I could have a a three day weekend!

For choosing the amount of time of work, it will depend on the type of work. For me, as an attorney, my brain can’t function for more than 10 hours at a time (including breaks) … so I’d prefer working about 6-9 hours a day … and having the weekends off, maybe even taking a half day on Fridays (opps, yea, I already do that when I can :))

Hmm…3 – 12 hour days is so tempting! I think it would be quite frustrating, but it would be over so quickly. I agree with another commenter that 4 – 10s are somewhat of a tease. I used to work them and although I loved the 3 days off, it was kind of a pain. Maybe part of the problem was that I couldn’t get them off in a row. I worked M-T and F-Sa. So I had W-R off together, but then Sunday went really quickly until I was right back at work.

Serving sizes are such a joke. A serving size of chocolate chips is like 9 chips. Ridiculous.

Currently I’ve been working 10-12 days all five days of the week, so cutting back to 3 or 4 sounds fabulous!

My fav thing there is the instant brown rice that’s ready in the microwave in 90 seconds, my boyfriend and I usually split one with dinners.

I would like to work 4-10 hour days. That way you have a day to get some things done that otherwise you *have* to do on the weekend, like going to the post office or getting my hair done 🙂

Hmmmm. First off… your green smoothie bowl is making me drool hahaha I LOVE green smoothies but only make them on the weekends.

Up until now my schedule has always been all over the place. I used to buy for Whole Foods for many years and my hours were everywhere, I did food and beverage direction at a hotel and I worked so much overtime, unexpected overnights when the overnight concierge didn’t show up, holidays, days off… you name it NOWWW I work 9-5 M-F! I LOVE the regularity and the fact that it is so much easier to coordinate plans with friends and family… not to mention real vacations BUT I would be adore 4 ten hours days for SURE. I already come into work an hour every and sometimes stay late. If those hours were official I would be golden!

haha I lovedlovedloved my years with WF 😀 The discount perks WERE pretty awesome. I was ‘seasonal’ after I left WF a couple years ago (which means you have to work 80 hours a year) up until about a month ago so I got to keep my discount. They recently changed the seasonal policy so I lost my discount 🙁 It was great for 6 years! But importunately it is engrained in me to shop there all the time even without my discount. It made a huge difference!

I am studying for my cPT now, and was wondering how you made the transition? I am working a corporate 9-6 job but fear that the hours (working nights and weekends) and pay (possible pay cut) might be a shock initially. Do you have any advice? Also, I am curious about getting insurance for myself and how you would suggest going about getting a job.

I think it would help me stay focused instead of my 5 days which seem to get in the way of my “play” time (I’m not complaining about being employed though! really!). Working 4-10s would be too much of a tease for me. And oh my gosh that chicken looks so delicious right now.
