Run Eat Repeat

Surprise Guest Hungry Runner Girl

Running· What Runners Eat

22 Jul

Hey! I’m currently chomping on carrots trying to keep myself from snacking before dinner. It’s this new thing I’m trying this month called, “actually be hungry for dinner”. Crazy concept, we’ll see how it goes!

me eating carrots

This morning I ran 8 miles – they were not easy at all for some reason. It probably didn’t help that the local high school track team flew by me and I felt like I was basically walking.

Then, I was craving a smoothie situation…

With toast for a ‘complete, balanced breakfast’ like in the Frosted Flakes commercials.

Then, I got a surprise text from Janae aka HungryRunnerGirl. She was in town for a few hours and wanted to meet up for some fun. We debated getting matching running tattoos, taking a walk, going to the movies… and finally settled on meeting for lunch.

(This is a random picture from the last time we hung out 50 years ago.)

Wahoo’s Fish Taco Salads won out!

Janae likes to lightly whisper to her food before eating it, that’s what she was doing here I think. I’m not here to judge, so I just went with it.

If you’re not familiar with HRG – she is SUPER fast and her next goal is a SUB-3 Hour Marathon! Seriously. I can’t even…

Running Stuff

In other news… I’ve been reading a bunch of interesting stuff on running and eating and sleeping. Sharing these in case you are tired of being productive today too…

Reader Elaine shared that Girls on the Run SD is having a virtual race as a fundraiser and the medal for the 5k and 10k has a WATERMELON on it!

Question: Who did you have lunch with today?

Very jealous that you got to have lunch with HRG! Super cool! Well, and jealous that she got to have lunch with you 🙂

Today I will be eating lunch solo! My husband and I both work from home and usually eat lunch together, but he is travelling today, so I’m on my own. It’s sad, but it means I get to watch Sex and the City while I eat. Could be worse.

I would consider moving if HRG would spontaneously drop in for lunch. I read her blog and think she’s an awesome runner. I imagine that if I hung out with her even for a non-running activity, that I would instantly shave a minute or two off my current pace.
Don’t I know it about those high school runners who run past you while you’re chugging out your miles. I think they do it on purpose. Must be part of their training plan – pass all the women over 25.

I usually eat lunch by myself since it’s one of the few times that I get to be alone.

That’s awesome that you got to have lunch with Janae! I enjoy reading both of your blogs!

Lunch with my boyfriend. He knew I was feeling really down yesterday because our families were enjoying some delicious pizzas and I could not because it wasn’t gluten free, so today he took me across town to get gluten free pizza! It was better than I ever dreamed!

I had leftover Chinese food for lunch (chicken w string beans and fried rice). And then my boss gave me two rasberry and chocolate pepperidge farm MilAno cookies and I was blown away. Might just be my new favorite cookie 🙂

Cute! I love both of your blogs.

I got home on a red eye flight this morning so I went to bed at about 6:30 am and woke up around 11:00 for brunch, which was a turkey sandwich with my pup, Honey. Pretty spectacular lunch date if you ask me!

Your salad looks like the bomb-diggity. I had a potbelly turkey sandwich and some carrots and hummus with about 37987341 glasses of water because it is so hot that I CANT GET ENOUGH WATER.

And both of you got SALADS! MY fav food. My friends would’ve laughed at me and called me a dork. You had a great day!

As usual I rushed to eat lunch by myself before picking my son up from camp. It’s much more pleasant to eat without him asking “mommy what are you eating” every 5 seconds! That is so cool that you got to hang with Janae – first running blogger I ever read and still read daily 🙂

I had lunch with my class of 7 toddlers today – something my work called “chicken” and some mashed potatoes and gravy.

I am SO bad about snacking when I get home from work and not being hungry for dinner! I am a total snack addict.
