I did Weight Watchers in college and it didn’t work too well for me because it was hard for me to “buy into” the meetings since I felt out of place with the leaders other members, who were more like my mom than friends. But, I did always love that you had to go to a meeting and get weighed in and really be accountable. I believe the buddy system is great for helping you succeed in weight loss (and running!).
But, I don’t have a “buddy” to help keep me accountable. I know this blog helps, but it doesn’t make up for having to tell someone in person, “I gained a pound this week,” or “I ate a whole tub of popcorn at the movies,”.
Well, I found a buddy! Ben has been talking about losing weight and he knew I was frustrated about not having anyone to talk to about my struggles so we decided to buddy up! We have very different exercise and eating habits so for the most part we are going to work on the things that are our own struggles, but keep eachother accountable.
Ben’s goal is to lose 25 pounds; My goal is to lose 15. I know he will probably lose faster than me and I am not going to let that discourage me 🙂 The plan is to keep communication open about what we’re working on and weigh in once a week to track progress. I’m still working on the whole Intuitive Eating thing and trying to get enough sleep. Slow and steady wins the race.
Rest Day: Friday is my usual Rest Day in preparation for a long run tomorrow. My rest day schedule might change since I just discovered a yoga studio nearby and plan to start classes next week!! Yeah for Yoga 🙂
Breakfast was PB&J toast and cereal. I couldn’t decide what to ahve so I made both. Now I am off to get my Friday morning treat = Dunkin Donuts coffee 🙂
Happy happy Friday!!!

love the buddy system – not a huge fan of WW, my sister used to do that and she drove me crazy, it seriously just seems like counting calories to me. I think y’all will do really well with keeping eachother and also keeping eachother motivated!

Yes, the buddy system is awesome. I love when my bf wants to work out. Mainly my buddy is one of my best friends. We keep each other accountable.

Having a buddy does seem to make it easier. Meetings were one of the things I loved about WW. When I had a good week I felt like I just glowed during my meeting!

My hubby and I do the same thing – since he wants / needs to lose so much more than me and the weight loss will be so different between us – we actually do it as a weekly percentage…and whoever has the higher percentage lost is the weekly winner (ie our own version of biggest loser). The person who did not lose as much has to do a few extra chores that week….whether changing the littler boxes, cleaning the kitchen each night, making breakfast during the week – we switch it up but let each other know the day before “weigh-in”what we want if we win…..keeps it fun and light while teaching us both better habits!

Good luck with your buddy! It always helps to have someone to lean on when you’re fighting the temptations of cookies and other goodies. Happy Friday!

Good luck!! Buddy systems are great, I have my sister as my part-time buddy. Part time because it always seems that when I have a tough day eating/exercise wise, she has an amazing one. Bitch.

Yay! It will be so much easier for you to lose weight as well if he’s eating the same foods as you and not tempting you with “junk.” My boyfriend has been an incredible support system, boys are good buddies to have 😉

Good luck! I am always trying to get my husband to be my “buddy” but that’s not his thing. I’m back on WW after losing 30 lbs. the first time. I stopped going to meetings and gained some of the weight back. I recommitted a couple of weeks ago and while it’s been hard adjusting, I know it works so I’m going to keep at it. I used to get tired of the meetings topics, but now I think they’re good reminders even if you already know the information. But, you’re right, I wish there were more people my age in the meetings.

The blog world is a good supplement for finding peeps your own age to “talk” about it with 🙂
