The Notebook

In case you missed it, here’s my half mary recap 🙂 The race’s results said my net time was 1:50:48 – with a pace of 8:28. Unbelievable! I am very proud of that, but still weirded out that my Garmin showed less of a distance?

After  extensive reflection I’ve decided to keep a Notebook of my eats for a month. I’ve been sticking to the Intuitive Eating all right, but since I can’t read my hunger signals yet it’s hard to do. I was really hesitant to write down all my eats because it takes me back to a time when I was overly controlling and unhealthy with my food choices. But, the Intuitive Eating book does say it is okay to do if you use it in a healthy way – meaning, look at your choices as an observer NOT in a judging way. IMG_1456

Here is my notebook…I don’t want to rehash the minor details of my progress on the blog, but I think this will help me see my daily choices better.

I was supposed to do speedwork this morning, but couldn’t for two reasons: 1.) I  need a track for a ladder type work out 2.) It was way too dark to try and go fast (I couldn’t see the bumps in the sidewalk!) and I couldn’t even read my Garmin. So I ended up doing a quick 10K. IMG_1446

For breakfast I made a yogurt bowl with Chobani pineapple, Flax & Raisin Bran cereal, naner and PB. I ate it super fast since Ben needed to be out the door to catch a flight and now I’m a little overly full. IMG_1453The combo of running in the dark and rushing to get ready so he can give me a ride has prompted me to pin down getting my car out here! I need to get it smogged in CA and then my fam is going to ship it over. Thank God.

My twitter button got lost in the move too. If you’re on Twitter I’m Runeatrepeat 🙂

Julie – yeah, I’ve read that just writing down the difficult times can be super helpful too!

Wow speedy! That an awesome time!

I have started wirting down my eats too…well, not all my eats, just when I binge. I’ve kind of fallen off the wagon and I need to get back on track so I think writing down how I feel when and after it happens will help me realize that it needs to stop once and for all. I’m going to write down my good days too, as encouragement.

I’m glad to see you remembering the “non-judgemental” aspect of recording what you eat. IE has been the most refreshing things I’ve been doing and I can’t believe the freedom I have. For some reason-it clicks for me-moreso than anything else has. Being kind to yourself and non-judgemental is one of the major things that has impacted my life. As you record in a notebook I think you will notice patterns of hunger and satisfaction – that will help you in your quest to be an intuitive eater. 🙂

There you are! I never showed a new link in my reader, so I’ve been wondering what the heck happened to you. Glad your race went well 🙂 xoxo

I think that it is good you know a strategy that will work well for you (notebook). i don’t think this is a backward move i think every move you make is a step in the forward progression! good for you. i think writing it down will help you see it. and make conscious choices. i am also struggling with eating intuitively! i can relate to the challenge!

I’m trying to learn intuitive eating, too, so if you have any good tips PLEASE send them my way. I am really liking it so far though. I’m much, much happier than I was when I was just sticking to a calorie limit and beating myself up over bad choices all the time. And I’m learning to make healthy, proper food choices. Which makes me feel like a champion! Yeah!!!

I hope the notebook works well for you. Lol when I saw the title of this post I it would be gushing about that movie which I just couldn’t stand, haha.

i don’t know why i’m not too fond of yoghurt and cereal. i tried plain yoghurt and cereal.. i found the cereal flavour just got lost.. but love the crunch!
