No, literally the sky is going to be falling – in the form of snow, Saturday morning…

Heavy Snow / Wind
30°
26°
This means my last long run, the long run I really need to do because last weekend I only did 14 miles will be snowed out. I asked some advice of fellow MDer and Marathoner, Roni.
She, and others, agreed that the sidewalks may be too slippery for a safe run, so I have two options:
1. Run today … but I can’t do the full 20 today as I don’t have 4 hours to devote to it, didn’t carb load and just ate cereal for breakfast (milk, then a long run=not a good idea)
2. Postpone the run until it’s a little safer on the sidewalks
So, it looks like I will be doing my long run on Monday. Hopefully by then the sidewalks will be cleared! I’m totally stressed about this right now and kicking myself for ranking out on my long run last weekend. I knew this would happen and I should have sucked it up!
Like I said, I just ate a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Even though I’m not super full, I know from past experience it’s best to stick with toast and PB for a pre-run meal.
I also had a banana with PB. I finally bought the crunchy salted PB again and had to dig into the jar!
Okay, I’m still freaking out about messing up my long run schedule since the last two weekends I did 8 miles and 14 miles. I don’t feel like I am properly trained for a marathon in 22 days! Just call me Chicken Little, because, “The sky is falling!!!!”

Ugh, this snow storm is very inconvenient. I feel bad for those who still need to do their Christmas shopping. It’s expected to be pretty ugly tomorrow.
I’m not sure about MD, but here in NoVa, we’re supposed to get snow starting at midnight. I think the snow is less of a problem than ice and I imagine it’ll be icier on Sunday and Monday than tomorrow.
I’m a big weenie (and from Florida!) so there is pretty much no way I’d run in the snow, but you’re probably much more hard core than me.
Either way, hope you have an awesome run.
Good luck!
I am definitely not ready for the snow. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t be as bad as they say.
Thank you guys!!! So positive – I love it 🙂
I think you’ll be a star either way! Good luck!
You’ll figure it out. Don’t beat yourself up!!
It is so hard for me to get motivated when it’s that cold… I need to learn to like it. Maybe some cute running clothes or something. Maybe look at the hour by hour weather and find some time in between the snow? You could also run in the road… Whatever happens I’m sure you’ll do just fine!
you’re going to rock that race no matter what. heads up!
because of my asthma, i train on the treadmill when its below 40 degrees. i’m still trying to figure out when to fit my 7miler in and if/how I’m getting to the gym!
I would go tonight – but I already worked out this AM doing HIIT and weights……..so I’ll cross my fingers that its not too bad out tomorrow and show up at the gym when it open s at 8am??!! i will keep thinking positive 😉
Its the same for me here – the roads and the sidewalks are covered in snow + ice and so I have not run for three whole days! It doesn’t look like its going to get better till next week, and I need to RUN!
I have a feeling whatever happens today or tomorrow or next week, you’ll still rock that marathon
Personally I like running in the snow. I try to go for quieter roads though or I head to the coast and run along the ocean, even though the sidewalks aren’t clear its usually just a tad warmer there. I wouldn’t rule a snow run out 100%, but that’s just me. If I didn’t run in the snow I’d never do a spring marathon. Last winter I remember going for a long run, all that was on the road was me & the plows. I got the thumbs up from a guy shoveling his driveway though.
Just get the run in however you can! Then its time to start tapering back!
don’t beat yourself up over this. the lr will happen and youll rock it out! and youll rock the marathon 🙂
