The Thing That Upsets Me About The Stick

Cross Training

10 Nov

Hello! How’s it going? Are you on track to hit your goals this week? It’s only Tuesday so you have plenty of time! Go go go go.

Wait. Stay and read this post first. Then, goooooo!

Remember how I ran the Revel Canyon Marathon this weekend with SkinnyRunner? Well, my quads are trashed and my shins are super super tight.

So, I tortured myself with The Stick after a short walk. The thing that upsets me about the stick and foam rolling is that it’s extra unpleasantness… like, isn’t it enough that I ran 26.2 miles?! No. Now I have to push on the sensitive parts of my legs to help my muscles and tendons recover. That is some BS. AmIRight? I wish it was all rainbows and butterflies and donuts and glory after running a full freaking marathon.

Vegas 100% doesn’t care if I’m sore or dead or alive or what. He is like the Honey Badger and doesn’t give a F.

In fancy food news, I made chicken fajitas for dinner because Ben is here and I’m trying to impress him with my Mexican cooking skills. Si se puede.

Wine. Always add wine. It pairs well with food.

Dessert was a gift from the friends that came over Friday – Girl Scout Candy?! I didn’t know this was a thing. We already demolished the chocolate covered almonds they brought too! Busted.

Pile on the Miles Week 2 – Tuesday Check In

I’m headed to the gym today, but this class is usually pretty heavy on leg exercises. I’m not sure how I’ll do, but I’ll try my best. I also really need to get to yoga and stretch my life away.

Check in below with your miles or workout!!

So far, I’m crushing it this week. I got in 15+ miles so far and three workouts so far. I’m ahead of my goal. I’m concerned to fall short because Friday and Saturday I’m going to a Women of Faith conference and will be pretty much sitting still all night Friday and all day Saturday. But it will be worth it. So I’m pushing myself hard early in the week.

A 10K today. I’m 4 weeks out from my first marathon and have my sights set on some half marathons in 2016, so I’m trying to keep medium-mile runs on the calendar. It was hilly so tough, but I’m glad I did it!

7 miles in the dark this morning…I’m pretty sure my neighbors think I’m crazy when I wear my headlamp while running.

I’m killin it so far. Friday I worked out despite an early flight, Saturday boot camp with PBFingers, Sunday went on a hike, Monday more tortuous boot camp with Julie and this morning I had to drop the hubs off at the airport so I went in to work early and worked out at the gym. Miles are piling! I’m coming for you t-day.

Today is an in between day. I will take a walk on my break at work then tomorrow it’s back to the gym. Sleep has been an issue lately, so I’m trying not to push my tired body.

I have yoga on the plan for today. It’s nice and cool out though, so I may hit the road for a few miles too…

I’ve never heard of girl scout chocolate! I haven’t even tempted myself with a box of cookies this year.

Only did 30 minutes today, but yesterday I did 60 so I had a bit of an overage. I started with a 20 min HIIT workout where she tried to kill me, then toned it down with 10 min of stretching.

      I agree, love/hate the stick.

Ha, wine DOES pair well with food. Spot on.

Tuesday target is 7.5 mile run home from work, still on the “to do” list. This will take me to 12 miles this week; my weekly goal is 30 – so plenty still to be done!

I agree. The stick is torture but it does work.
