Hello! How’s it going? I just got back from a mid-distance run. I haven’t been following a training plan so my running has been kinda random lately. It’s good for the soul, but not good for progress. So I’ve devoted my day to finding my next race and a training plan for it. Now let’s talk running and eating…
This morning I woke up bright and early to beat the heat. Vegas woke up early too, he’s not too excited about it though. Or maybe he’s judging me for the place being so messy. Don’t be a judger, Vegas.
I really should have driven to a flat path to run this morning since my legs were tired. That would have been a lot easier. I feel like when I’m on flatness I can run forever, but the tiniest hill kills me.
Um, in other news… I ate this salad yesterday and took a picture because I have this blog and like food. The TJ’s veggie mix really helps make my salad fancy without a ton of chopping.
The Two Things That Got Me Through My Run:
1. Pre-run I had Spark, O2 Gold and Pumpkin Waffles. Love love love.
2. Listening to Fast Girl: A Life Spent Running From Madness – I just heard of this book a few days ago and decided to get it via audiobook to listen to while I run. I don’t think listening to books or podcasts is great for fast running, but it is good for long running because you zone out and have a lot of time to get into the story.
Question: What’s the BEST book you’ve ever read?
I have a feeling I’m going to get through this one fast.

I have NEVER even listened to an audio book but I read all of the time. My list is so long of favorites, I don’t know where to start. I am going to download Fast Girl, though and give an audiobook a try. What is your favorite?

I’m not sure I could even tell you when the last time was that I read a book. I can’t even make it through the 4 issues of Runners World I have currently. But I loved John Bingham’s The Accidental Athlete.
Rachael @ Catch Me if You Can says
i love christopher moore, he is a hilarious author and the last book i had of his on audio (serpent of venice) had the best narrator!

I read a lot of books because I don’t watch tv at all. But my favorite all-time childhood book is “Black Beauty”. I would say very close runners up would be “Charlottte’s Web” and “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory”.
My runs have been sucking lately; I need my mojo back!

The best book I ever read is Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. No matter how many times I read that book, I’m always shocked!

I read Suzy Favor Hamilton’s book a couple of weeks ago and it’s really good. It wasn’t my favorite and I wish she would have written more about how she uses running and yoga to help with her mental illness but it was still good.
I love to read, I’m sort of a nerd for words so it would be all kinds of impossible to pick one favorite book.

Will definitely need to put this one on my list! The best book? Well, the funniest I’ve read while running was Kathy Griffin’s – absolutely hysterical!

The best book lately is hands down The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah. Hands down I tell ya’!

One of my favorites of all time is Gone with the Wind. Just finished Fast Girls the other day- I’m interested to hear your thoughts! The book doesn’t go into her running career too much, but it was still a speedy read!
sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
i can’t ever get through a book…it’s terrible. But I read a zillion blog posts. I guess short stories might be the right kinda book for me =)

Best book…the Martian. It opens this weekend with Matt Damon, and you can totally “hear” Matt. (I listened to the audio book.)
Train with me for the Auckland Marathon!
Emily @ My Healthyish Life says
I don’t know about “best” but one of my favorites is The Art of Racing in the Rain. I’d love to hear more about your training plan!

She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb!
Jessica says
Yep, this book is definitely in my top five.

Naturally, I have to answer your question. It’s a toss up between Fydor Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment and Column McCann’s Let the Great World Spin. I’m Laos partial to Charlotte’s Web, if we want to get nostalgic.

I finished Finding Ultra by Rich Roll when I was doing a lot of running- it’s amazing, and totally inspiring. I have to say I did get a bit weepy a few times on a treadmill when he was talking about overcoming addiction. Such a good read to get involved in!
