Run Eat Repeat

What I Wore to Run the Irvine Half Marathon

Here is a ‘run down’ of my favorite running gear right now!

running gear for the irvine half marathon (600x800)

I think a lot of my Instagram followers just think I’m a crazy ginger who runs a lot (and eats even more!). They don’t realize I have a lil ol’ blog because I get questions every time on ‘What shorts are those?!’ and ‘Wow! It looks warm there!!” and “Hey, you eat a lot of freakin’ donuts!!”.

Yeah, I know.

Anyway.

What I Wore to the Irvine Half Marathon

running blog irvine half marathon results and recap 4 (600x800)

Running Gear notes to consider:

  • Temperature: around 55 degrees, sprinkled a tiny bit during the race.
  • Half Marathon, fairly flat course.

Mizuno Hitogami Running Shoes

Other long inseam running shorts to PREVENT CHAFING…

I spotted these 7” inseam shorts at Target, but the fabric seems a little thin (Read: they will prevent your thighs from rubbing, but won’t stop your butt from jiggling like it’s your job.) so I didn’t get a pair.

“E” for effort on the gear Target, but we’re going to have to keep looking.

Luckily, they had sports bras on sale! The yellow ones were on clearance for some reason so I bought 3. I usually buy all different colors, but then I realized:

a.) No one sees them except me.

b.) I needed new ones because this is my smelliest piece of workout gear.

c.) Saves money.

After the race I was super comfy in my California Flag sweatshirt. This one is very similar, but has a hood.

      Im on Instagram!! tdearmon86

Is it weird that I wear 2 sports bras? I like to have the extra support. But sometimes I buy them a bit small and then they cut into my ribs. Does that ever happen to any of you?

Yes I’m on Instagram @breathedeeplyandsmile! Target sports bras are my favorite-esp since I don’t need much support! I need to get a longer pair of those shorts though.

Current favorite capris are from Target, black with a purple kind of rouched thin panel down the side. I only bought them because they were cheap on clearance and I wanted fitted capris. But they are so comfortable, great to run in and make me look super skinny somehow. Win-win-win.

Oh man… Insta is my favorite. Right now it’s sort of a bit of a social-shrine to my baby though! I just can’t get enough.

Definitely on Instagram. It’s prob my favorite social media.

All my sports bras are from Target too. They are comfy and reasonably priced, so Ive stocked up over the years. They last a long time too!

@kailinacheson on instagram. I post whatever, without any rhyme or reason except that what goes up is what I have pictures of 🙂 I currently LOVE my Brooks shorts (no longer available, from what I can tell, but this is similar: http://www.brooksrunning.com/en_us/womens-infiniti-7in-short-tight-iii/220609.html?dwvar_220609_color=001) and my ZOOT shorts (again, no longer available). My requirements for shorts are as follows:

      1) tight (think spandex)
      2) silicone gripper along the bottom of the shorts leg (or a non-riding band, but these have to be tested by me so I know they’ll stay down)
      3) some (any) pocket(s); zipped pockets are great, but my ZOOT shorts have hip pockets and I love those too.
      4) no chamois (most tri shorts have the gripper and a chamois, but I want running shorts)

Needless to say, I run in the same pair of shorts for a LONG time before I find a suitable replacement. I should probably instead purchase a few pairs of the ones I like when I find them!

I love target’s workout clothes, I bought a pair of Champion running pants from there two years ago and they are still in amazing shape.

IG is awesome and entirely too distracting. 50Peach is me!

Moving Comfort is new to me, but looking forward to trying them out. Target is okay for bras and tanks/tees but I agree no-go on the pants/shorts! Better quality is a must for dat ass jiggle. 🙂

Yep, I’m on instagram, but I should call mine dogagram because I’m obsessed with taking pics of my dogs. The mini dachshund driving, the lab swimming, the dachshund swimming on the labs back, you get the picture. Occasional I do drunk selfies though and they’re usually hilarious….except when they involve fire. Then not so much.

I am on instagram way. too. much. Your instagram is hilarious.

Long shorts are essential (plus loose ones ride up and drive me crazy), though it’s been in the single digits here, so no shorts until spring!
