Hello! This morning something happened to me on my run that’s never happened before. It’s not a big deal, but after 10 years of running/jogging/slogging it was just random to have a little leaf get stuck under my shoelace. It made me laugh and think, “I’m just glad I didn’t fall today…” (which is what normally happens when I’m not paying attention).
After breakfast I headed to my mom’s for a few errands I have to take care of over here. It’s about a 45-60 minute drive and I didn’t listen to any music or radio the whole time.
That reminded me that I drove home from Palm Springs on Sunday in silence too. Is that weird? It’s about 2 hours, which is the usual length of a long run for me so I guess I’m used to just hanging out with my brain movies?
After my errands I was super hungry and of course went to raid my mom’s fridge. I’m really glad they bought a trailer so the neighbors can’t see me through the window. I’m like the Tazmanian Devil eating up all their food!
My mom finally bought Adult Gummie vitamins so I’ll stop eating my lil brother’s. Thanks!
It’s so gorgeous here I ate outside. California Love.
(Plus a cereal buffet.)
Last night I had a Lean Cuisine for dinner and wanted to share a reminder to put them on a plate. It looks so much fancier and delicious this way!
On the flip side, I ate my salad out of the container today because there was room to add toppings, shake it up and attack! Plus I wasn’t dirtying any extra dishes and since I’m at my madre’s I try to keep it cleaner than at home.

Question: Do you ‘plate’ your meals or just eat them out of the container/pan/box?
I try to, but it doesn’t always happen.
Betsy says
Why dirty a plate when you don’t have to?
Angela @ Honey, I Shrunk the Mom says
There are very few Lean Cuisine’s that I actually enjoy and that happens to be one of them! Love those chipotle sweet potatoes. I try to keep one of them in the freezer for a “I have nothing planned for dinner” moments.
Deborah Brooks @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
Always on a plate-much more civilized! I use the small ones for lunch and bigger ones for dinner.
Cindy says
Please tell us more about that shirt you are wearing. Super cute!
David Tiefenthaler says
If I wasn’t making dinner for the whole family, I’d eat right out of the box. However, I don’t want to set a bad example for my kids and such, so we do things all nice and properly now.
Stacy @ Sweating Tulipz says
I totally am too lazy to dirty an extra dish for the packaged foods I consume. However, you made that Lean Cuisine look way more fancy! I may have to bite the bullet and start using real tableware more often!
Jennifer says
I like to plate my meals. I try to make my food pretty which is a little weird!
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
I only plate meals when I am trying to be fancy and take pictures, but otherwise I try and make as less mess as I can. I’m not trying to clean up unnecessary dishes!
Livi @ Eat, Pray, Work It Out says
I try to plate my meals as much as I can!

Monica,
I just bought a pair of HOKA one one running shoes.
I had never heard of them before but tried them on
and they felt great! I’m alittle concerned about the
height of the sole…possibly rolling my ankle if I get
off kilter on an uneven road.
I haven’t worn them outside yet. I’m considering taking
them back before I get them “dirty”.
Have you heard of these shoes and what do you think?
P.S. I do have foot “issues”. Right now it is a nerve pain
I get when I roll of the ball of my foot. These shoes seem stiff
and might help with that problem.

I have a friend that LOVES HOKAs and she does trail runs so I’m assuming she hasn’t had an issue with this. I can’t really give an opinion on it though because I haven’t tried them.
Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious says
Food always tastes so much better when it’s one a plate. Have a good weekend!
Losing Lindy says
I wish your mom lived closer to me.;)
runeatrepeat says
Me too.
Ash Bear says
I thought of you today when I found that GIF for my blog post. 🙂 Bo forces me to plate things and it really makes things so much better!
runeatrepeat says
I literally was just thinking about you!! Miss you 🙂
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner says
If it requires me to clean an extra plate then I really try to avoid it. I hate doing dishes.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
I’m terrible. I hardly ever plate my food. I tend to eat out of the serving containers.
Heather (@hmgiraffy) says
Ranchero Beef is my faaaaave.
Cheri @ Overactive Blogger says
Which flavor lean cuisine was that! It looks so fancy on a plate!
runeatrepeat says
It was one I’ve never tried/seen – sweet potatoes and braised beef. I didn’t really like the meat part, but I’m not a big red meat person. I really bought it for the sweet potatoes – they were good!
Rae says
I’ve also done hour long drives in silence and only realize it when I pull in the driveway! A person can get lost in brain movies, right? So naturally, I don’t think that’s weird
Rae says
Not sure what happened to the rest of my note. Ha. But ditto for me on putting micro meals on a plate. Think it slows me down and looks better! Have a good weekend, Monica!!!
runeatrepeat says
Have a good weekend to you!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan says
If I’m eating alone I will do everything in my power to not make dishes. If my boyfriend is home then I act like an adult and use a plate…and a napkin. 🙂
Linda @ TheFitty says
You find the BEST GIFS, Michele. They crack me up!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Glad you didn’t fall! The leaves are pretty though. I always eat my meals on a plate or in a bowl. I like to arrange it all nicely before digging in. Have a great weekend!:)
Ashley @ Saving Money in your Twenties says
Hah that’s brilliant to put the lean cuisine on a plate… I don’t like doing dishes so I probably wouldn’t want to dirty a plate! But still a good idea, it does make it look fancier! Also hilarious about the leaf under your shoelace… I would NOT think that was possible?! HA! have an awesome weekend!! 🙂
