Hey! Today has been busy. I’m going on a trip Wednesday and want to be as efficient as possible before I go. Among the tasks, I managed to schedule a mold inspection St Louis for my apartment; it’s something I’ve been meaning to do, considering the recent humidity. I knocked a few important things off my To Do list and have a lot more to do tomorrow. Luckily one of my calls was cancelled so I had extra time to be the worst.
First let me say that GREEN IS (usually) GOOD.
Green veggies are good for ya. Guacamole is amazing (understatement).
That’s why I had a pile of it at my mom’s yesterday. I cannot get enough.
I wish I would have taken some to go so I could have it at every meal!
This afternoon I was super hungry and wanted a good snack.
Snacks like this require an appetizer so I started with yogurt… except I couldn’t decide on what flavor to have so I half opened two of my favorite yogurts to eat half of each. I intended on just folding the lid back and saving the rest for later.
I ate half and realized I just wanted to finish off one of them. So, I peeled back the whole lid and saw I WAS EATING A MOLDY YOGURT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“This is how I die…” was my first thought.
As I slipped in and out of consciousness slowly going toward the light I remembered my friend KT is a NP so I text her to ask if she would feed my cat when I got to Heaven.
She said “no” because she hates cats but did say I probably wouldn’t die so there’s that.
And so I think I’m going to be okay. But now my pride is pretty banged up since I just shared that story with the whole internet. The end.

Love the t shirt! I’m a guacamole fan myself!
Natalie says
I’ve never eaten moldy yogurt but I have eaten moldy hummus and didn’t die so you should be okay.
Trish says
That’s why I’m so anal about leftovers. I totally freak over stuff like that. I would have died on spot! And yes, guacamole should have it’s own food group…
Sarah @ KS Runner says
My husband makes fun of me because I’m always telling him that expiration dates are ‘just a suggestion.’ I’ve eaten yogurt that was 8 months past the expiration date that was completely fine and had moldy yogurt that was still within the date. So I don’t think they are good to go by. But mold in your food, I’d be a little creeped out by it.
Guacamole…yum. Now I want that for lunch.

Ugh, that’s the worst! I ate mold strawberries once. The horrible thing about it was that they didn’t look moldy and I didn’t even realize until halfway through. They killed my stomach for hours. The hardest thing to figure out is blue cheese though. Like, how moldy is it actually supposed to be?
Kathryn says
So, maybe I have done that…multiple times. A few months ago I realized my Ezekiel toast was moldy about halfway through but you know what? I finished that toast. Because I figured I had already ingested the mold and if I was going to spend the rest of my day on my deathbed I might as well not be hungry while I’m there. Right?
Also, really happy you didn’t die. Because these stories make my day.
runeatrepeat says
Ha! If I find mold on a tortilla or something I just cut that piece off and eat the rest. I figure it’s good for my immunity.
Ashley @ Kickashmom says
Oh an I always check yogurt and cottage cheese. They go bad so dang fast!
Lea J. says
I feel your pain and I have absolutely done that before… with yogurt, bread, granola bars. Maybe I need to pay more attention?
I was also scarred for life when, as a kid, I was eating some Captain Crunch that had sat in the cabinet too long and eventually realized there were little bugs living in my cereal… UGH.
runeatrepeat says
I remember finding little bugs in flour when I was a kid and being traumatized for the longest time!
Julie @ Run Away Freckles says
hahahaha, I don’t think I have ever seen moldy yogurt. Yesterday I found mold in my sandwich and I am now afraid of bread for awhile.
Sherrah says
Reading your post and the comments, I conclude you are not the worst person ever. I have friends that do weird stuffs and I just go LOL. Over all I love your honestly. Haven’t met you personally but I like you for being so genuine. Be yourself but please don’t let bad food kill you… Eat healthy!:-)
Katie M says
You are the worst. But since i saved your life, i am officially the best. Boo. Winning.
runeatrepeat says
Thank you for saving my life 🙂
Losing Lindy says
OMG did you see my parenting fail on FB…I told my Mr. 7 (aka V) to have a yogurt and I was working on laundry and I come back to find he had eaten a gogurt..which I didn’t realize we had any of..and it expired in JULY #parentingfail
runeatrepeat says
Ah! Hope he’s okay!!
Losing Lindy says
oh he is fine..no issue at all
Kathy says
that would officially be the end of yogurt for me….forever. I couldn’t get past it…you are strong!
Kelly says
Oh my gosh I would have thrown up, that is so gross!
Elizabeth says
Hahaha I have exactly the same reaction to things like that! I once drank water out of a water fountain at my drs office and after I had drank like 3 gulps realized the water was white. I freaked out the entire drive home and called my boyfriend to tell him I loved him and I would see him on the other side, he told me to stop being so dramatic….
runeatrepeat says
Ha!
Kelly M says
Ohhhh nooooo….I hate bad food situations. I recently grilled chicken over a camp fire, checked the temp to make sure it was 165 and everything . I took a bite and it was raw inside…..omg. For the next week I obsessed and convinced myself that I got a parasite from the chicken and made myself feel sick. Everyone around me was tired of hearing about my parasite. So I got over it….sort of.
runeatrepeat says
That is so something I would do. Hope you’re okay!
Natalie @ Never Serious Blog says
Hahahaha, the Chris Traeger gif cracked me up! Especially since I’m watching Parks & Rec right now
Carrie (This Fit Chick) says
hahaha EW! I hate that…. sometimes my greek yogurt gets old and tastes SO tart and i’ve already used it and put it together in a meal and I’m like. NOOO.
runeatrepeat says
Yeah, I feel like I’ve done that with sauce before and ruined a whole dish. Now I’m going to be paranoid for a while.
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner says
I love guac! Lately I’ve been putting avocado on everything. Even made avocado brownies yesterday!
runeatrepeat says
Oooh! Were they good?!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan says
In high school I had a big bite of baked potato absolutely covered in spoiled sour cream. I made my mom smell all of my food for months.
runeatrepeat says
Ha! (To your mom smelling your food not the food bite.) That’s something I would have done.
Becky @ Olives n Wine says
Guac is seriously the BEST!! And blech to the moldy yogurt! That happened to me one time and I didn’t eat yogurt for a few weeks, LOL.
runeatrepeat says
You know what’s the worst? I totally opened a fresh one and ate it.
Nessa @ Ness Runs says
Guacamole should have its own food group – it is that good!
That was one nasty surprise but I guess that dairy always spoils quickly
