Hello! How’s it going? I’m over here just running and eating and repeating on the east coast. Can’t complain, it’s pretty nice out here.
I woke up late (because I’m on west coast time) and had to cut my run short because I had a lot of stuff to do. It was a good mix of work stuff and fun stuff though!
Breakfast before anything else…
Then, I got to work on some writing projects, social media and other fun stuff that also doubles as work stuff.
When I went down for lunch Ben’s mom, Jill was making coleslaw for later. Everyone was coming over for Ben’s brother’s birthday.
Well, in the middle of mixing it up she screamed, “Oh no!! I ruined it!!!!”
I was standing right by her as she was mixing and knew immediately what she did…
To consolidate items in the fridge when a half gallon of juice or something gets low Jill puts it in a glass container. These are usually old salad dressing or mayo containers that have been cleaned out. As she was pouring the Marie Callendar’s Coleslaw dressing onto the cabbage she realized…
It was EGGNOG!
Ha! I knew it right away since I’m familiar with their practice of keeping things in smaller containers and I can spot eggnog a mile away (one of my many food talents). We were about to rinse it off and start over when I stopped her and said, “Maybe it’s not that bad! Try it.”
I mean, coleslaw is kind of sweet anyway, right? So – she tried it and I tried it and we decided it totally passed as coleslaw. She served it at the party and no one mentioned it tasting weird. Isn’t that super random?!
Note: She used half real coleslaw dressing and half eggnog. As she was just trying to use up the last of what was in two containers.
So now I present to you, Christmas Coleslaw.
I went back to my laptop after lunch and saw a thousand new emails so I decided to lay down and pretend like I didn’t have anything to do for a few minutes. I call it mediating, you may call it something else less nice.
Sunset…

I would definitely try Christmas cole slaw!!!! I’m not a fan of cole slaw because I don’t like the cole slaw dressing. My grandfather used to make it with a vinegar base and I would eat it that way. Could be I would LOVE Christmas cole slaw. It’s always fun to try new things and when an accident ends up coming out ok, them hey. It’s a win win.

The best accidents turn into great recipes! My dad’s made some corkers in the past…even when they were complete failures they turned into good stories!

Hmm. I’m really not an egg nog fan but I love Cole slaw. I bet I’d eat it if I didn’t know. Otherwise probably not.
