The Sleep Diet

Diet Tips

14 Apr

I am a girl who needs 8 hours of sleep a night, but I haven’t been getting it for a long time. I think I need to recommit myself to getting to bed at 9:30pm (isn’t that sad?) on work nights.

There was an article in Glamour magazine in February where 7 readers were told to get at least 7 and a half hours of sleep every night & NOT make significant changes to their diet or exercise. All but one of them lost weight.

So I am challenging myself to get 8 hours of sleep every night for the next 30 days. Since I have to wake up so early on weekdays that means in bed by 9:30pm! It also means no late night talking on the phone with Ben. Oh No!!! I just realized I’m going to have to say goodbye to LOST, yeah right – I’ll watch it on Hulu 🙂

W/O: 5.5 miles & I ran up and down the 1 hill around 4 times 🙂

Breakfast – I am all out of almond milk and I think it really “makes” my oatmeal, so I went with cereal with regular milk today. Cereal is one of my top 5 favorite foods, but it never makes me as full as oatmeal or other meal options 🙁 This is a huge bowl too…dscn7691

Does anyone else love the sweet sugar flakes that sweetened cereals like frosted shredded wheat leave at the bottom of the bag??? After I was done with my cereal I went back for some of this with milk 🙂dscn7693 BUSTED! I always over eat cereal!!!! I’m really curious to see how this bowl of cereal keeps me full. I am normally hungry a lot sooner than if I would have oats. I might try to eat cereal with greek yogurt for a little more protein punch. What else could I do? Egg whites on the side? Spoonful of PB?? Hmmm…

A lot of thanks for all of the effort on this website. Kate enjoys setting aside time for investigations and it’s obvious why. My partner and i notice all of the lively manner you give important solutions through your web site and inspire response from some other people on this concern then my child is without question discovering a great deal. Take advantage of the rest of the year. You’re the one carrying out a stunning job.

I not to mention my friends ended up taking note of the great strategies on the blog then instantly I got an awful suspicion I never expressed respect to the website owner for those tips. My women are actually happy to study them and have in truth been taking advantage of these things. Appreciate your turning out to be very accommodating and then for deciding upon this kind of terrific useful guides most people are really desirous to learn about. Our own sincere regret for not expressing gratitude to you earlier.

Good luck with the sleep challenge. I’m horrible about that. It’s definitely a good goal to aim for. I’m hoping that I’ll get more sleep next month when my work schedule changes.

I’m on your team!!! I LOOOOVE the last little sugary bits at the end of cereal, ESPECIALLY frosted flakes!! OMG YUM!!! 😀 I tend to overeat cereal too, so I have to pour myself a bowl, then HIDE my cereal at the back of my cabinet so I’m too lazy to go get a second bowl….but sometimes that doesn’t work and I still dig it out from the back! hahahahh

Good for yoU! 8 hours of sleep challenge is a brilliant idea!!!

Hey girlie, i also tend to STAY full without protein in my oats. I like at add some yogurt or almond butter also rocks. Pumpkin is my all time fave though! Give ’em a try!!!

I’m with you on this I need to start getting 8 hours of sleep, let’s see that would mean I’d have to get into bed by 10:00. Good luck to you!
