Came for the Rain

by runeatrepeat on December 5, 2009

Hello from sunny rainy Florida!!! I gathered my essentials: magazines and snacks and flew to Florida yesterday. It was a bumpy flight and Ben and I are glad to be here.IMG_3003

We were hoping for sunny beautiful weather, but it’s pretty stormy today. But that didn’t stop me from starting my day with a run. I did 5.3 miles in the pouring rain :) Ben’s family thinks I’m crazy. I actually love running in the rain (that’s because it was a “treat” in California!). I feel so hardcore when I run in the rain :) IMG_3009

We went back to the fam’s and ate cereals, yogurt and fruit. And maybe a piece of cranberry bread ;) IMG_3012

Now we are headed to the art show. I hope it stops raining soon – the show is outside and not many people will come out in this weather.

Oh, I forgot yesterday’s lunch: I made egg salad and chopped up spinach for extra veggies. IMG_2997IMG_3000

Dinner at Ben’s fam home – lots of mayo based salads. His mom makes the best side salads -but they are killer calorie-wise. It’s all about portion control. IMG_3005

And cake. Because sometimes you should have cake.IMG_3007

Even though it’s raining I am so happy it’s not cold. Love it :)

Hi Monica! Welcome to Florida! I live in Sarasota and I ran 5 miles in the pouring rain today, too. :) Usually, Florida winter weather is perfect for running. It’s weird to have this much rain in December – this time of year is typically sunny and dry. Oh well – glad you enjoyed your run and I hope you have fun on your trip!

Yay for good runs!

Sometimes we all need mayo-based salads! They’re pretty delicious! Enjoy!

Agreed with feeling hardcore in the rain. I love the idea of people driving by thinking “Damn girl – that’s some hardcore runner to head out in the rain.” That’s right. And it’s refreshing.

It was rainy in Miami today! Which art show are you seeing? Basal is here in Miami this weekend and there’s tons of shows going on. Have fun with the fam!

How I miss the warmth. At least it’s snowing. I hate it when it’s not cold enough for snow, but displeasantly not warm either.
That Luna bar is definitely an essential this time of year

Enjoy Florida! I did a lot of rainy running over Thanksgiving and I felt pretty hard-core too!

Woohoo! Running in the rain definitely makes you hardcore :) I wish I loved to run in the rain… but I don’t. Do you have any tricks for drying out your shoes when they get wet? To be honest, that may be my biggest pet peeve about running in rain– wet sneaks = yuck.
