Run Eat Repeat

Flashback Friday – HUNGRY

Breakfast

16 Sep

Happy Friday! This morning I made Ben breakfast and finally broke into the MASSIVE box of oatmeal I bought almost a year ago.

big oatmeal

It is from Costco and comes with two 10 pound bags of oats. Since I’m not a hardcore oatmeal eater this has lasted the longest time.big oats

I had a few bites of his oats and realized I was pretty hungry so I had some cereal before my run. The good stuff was gone before I took a pic – oops 🙂 cereal

I did 4 miles slow and steady. I feel tired today and my back is super sore for some reason?!

Despite my cereal snack I was HUNGRY during my run. Super hungry.

I wanted a runny egg for sure, but wasn’t sure what to pair it with. Then, I had the most genius idea! This frozen meal has been in my freezer for the longest time. I don’t know why I bought it – it just seems gross to me now. But, I cooked it up for breakfast.lean cuisine potatoes

And put an egg on top! If I had the time and patience for making potatoes from scratch I would eat this every day!eggs on potatoes

I also just chomped some watermelon – I am still hungry! I’m already planning lunch and may eat it in a second.

Flashback Friday!

Last year today I shared my under water camera pics from Curacao

I have my Last Long Run for the  Long Beach Marathon tomorrow. A year ago I also talked about fueling up for your long run. The day before my run I eat a lot of carbs and a lot of salt. Heck, I do that every day! On your run you should consume 45g of carbs per hour (I do per 45 minutes sometimes).

Question: What do you do eat when you are super HUNGRY?! (And can you bring me some?)

THIS IS YOUR YEAR.

Cup of greek yogurt plus larabar equals protein, complex carbs, healthy fats. Dont eat it too fast! Wait 15 min. It takes 20 min for the brain/tummy to send recieve full signals. Its my magic combo for gonna eat my arm hunger…..

I try to eat a ton of veggies and protein if I’m feeling constant hunger. I figure it’s my body’s way of telling me I’m missing out on some nutrient that it really wants, so I try various veggies dunked in hummus or Greek yogurt until my stomach chills out.

Whenever I am super hungry I tend to reach for bread and peanut butter or a BIIIIG bowl of cereal.

when all else fails, cake and ice cream.

I was super hungry today too!!!! Crazy!

Whenever I’m super hungry, I take it as a sign that my body is craving something … so I try a few bites from every food group until I’m full. Sounds crazy but it works. I always leave breads for last … today I went fats, protein, fruits and then when nothing worked … bread.

      I’m finally satisfied 🙂

That box of oatmeal from Costco is a monster! I am an avid oatmeal eater and although I am almost done with that box but it has taken a very long time. I can’t even remember the last time I had to buy oatmeal. That’s how long it’s been.

When I am SUPER hungry, I usually will down a bowl of cereal WHILE I’m making my real food. So technically, I have 2 meals. Yeah I said it.
