New York Marathon Training Mid-Week Accountability Run

Happy Wednesday! I started my day with my mid-week run. Most of us get our long runs in okay because they’re on the weekend, but those mid-week runs can be pushed aside a little easier. I get it, we’re busy.

But my ING NYC Marathon Training friends are going to try and keep ya honest.

Each Monday on the Runner’s Nation Facebook Page we’re taking turns sharing our mid-week run that might be a challenge for us to fit in. This week it was Coach Steve’s run.

RUN: So, I did my mid-week run today and I’m reporting in to be accountable.

EAT: Have you guys seen / heard of Cotton Candy Grapes?! They are a new hybrid grape (allegedly non-GMO) out of Bakersfield, CA. And they really do taste like Cotton Candy! It’s crazy. My mom shared some with me when I went to help her at work on Monday and I took all of them. They are very hard to find (mostly in health stores like Sprouts), so you may have to wait until next year to chomp em.

CrossTrain ID Giveaway

In other run news, a rep from CrossTrain ID recently contacted about their emergency identification products. They actually saw the giveaway I did for RoadID a while back and the response was AMAZING. Unfortunately, only one person got an ID from that. I’m hoping everyone else who entered bought one immediately, but I’m guessing you didn’t?

So CrossTrainID is giving FIVE RER readers a free ID to wear when you’re walking, running, biking, climbing, having a picnic in the park.

To enter: Leave a comment on this post with your favorite outdoor activity.

Open to residents of the US. Closes 8/23 at 9am PST. CrossTrainID is providing this product free for RER readers. All opinions are my own.

  1. Kylie Falk says

    Definitely running.
Although I’ve only been in to it for less than a year, I’ve been in 10 different races and am currently training for my first half marathon!

  2. Melissa Adams says

RUNNING duh! 😉 Also learning to enjoy paddle boarding and love a good afternoon in the sun with a nice bottle of wine. yum!

  3. Anna says

I would love to get the Cross Train ID for my hubby….his favorite outdoor activity is cycling. He goes on 60 mile runs like no big deal. I would feel so much better if he had an ID like this!

  4. Elizabeth says

I love running, walking, run/walking, biking, really anything outdoors. Michigan has brutal winters, so when the weather is nice enough to be outside, I try to take full advantage of it!

  5. Sylvia says

I love running and biking outdoors on the beautiful country roads in Central PA where you have to watch out for cars and deer!

  6. Stacie M. says

Running and soccer are my favorite outdoor activities. I am also training for NYC this year, and the FL summer heat and humidity are killing me, but I’m proud to say I am hitting those mid-week runs, even though sometimes it’s the last thing I feel like doing!

  7. Jen M says

Running is my favorite thing to do outdoors followed closely by relaxing on the beach next to my hubs with a pina colada in hand! 😉

  8. Anna says

Pick just ONE favorite outdoor activity??!! I do love my outdoor runs(all year round)-that’s a relatively new love and will hopefully result in a decent finishing time for my first half marathon this November!! I also enjoy Hiking with good friends and I have always been a big skier!

  9. Denise P. says

I’ll say hiking! It used to be running, but haven’t run since May thanks to this awesome baby in my belly.

  10. Robin says

I love to run, walk with my daughter, and ride my bike. I love being outside!!! Has not been a great summer for outside activity in NW Florida. :( Too much rain!

  11. says

Love running but of course my favorite outdoor activity is spending time with my kids whether it be walking, bike riding, or playing on a playground.

  12. Courtney says

Running but running with my 1 year old in the jogging stroller. Having him with me makes my favorite activity even better! Sometimes we even take a “swing break” at the park by our house:)

  13. Kaylie says

my favorite outdoor activity has to be running!

that is, if i’m not half asleep on a lounge chair (in the shade ’cause i’m pale) with a margarita next to me.

  14. Kerstin says

Running, walking, being at the lake…..and when I’m near the beach I will be walking in the water all day long

  15. julie says

Hiking has to be my favorite-unless going for long drives counts. On a side note, I keep hearing about those grapes. Any idea where a girl can get some in the DC metro area? Gracias!!!

  16. says

While my answer SHOULD be running.. my favorite outdoor activity is actually taking advantage of someones luscious grass filled backyard in the company of BBQ smells and homemade drinks. Disc golf is up there as well. :)

  17. Tara says

Nice!! I need one for my husband!
I love my runs with my dog Dixie, she keeps me from stopping and keeps our pace at a great ‘galllop’ !

  18. Heather says

I love running outdoors, through neighborhoods where I have plenty of things to look at and distract myself with.

  19. says

My favorite outdoor activity is running, hiking and training agility with my two dogs.
PS: not a US resident so please don’t add this to the giveaway.

  20. Cassie says

Obsessed with running. It was my activity of choice as I lost 125 lbs and continues to be my favorite form of exercise! :)

  21. leahk says

running of course! Training for my 2nd marathon and first ultra currently and totally need ID when I run (but don’t always carry one…)

  22. Barbara says

It’s a tie between downhill skiing and running, but my clear second fave outdoor activity is sitting on the beach doing NOTHING.

  23. Jackie K says

Running is by far my favorite. Lounging on my balcony after running is also a great way to spend time outdoors without too many mosquitos 😉

  24. courtney says

My favorite outdoor activity is still running. Running anywhere, really – although right now I am enjoying my long runs in Yountville (nothing like wine country and beautiful colors to make your runs seem a little easier!)

  25. MiaMia says

Running is still my favorite activity, but I’d love to try rollerblading! I’m super clumsy so that ID would come in handy!

  26. Caitlin says

Well, of course I love running outside – trails are the best – but I also love sitting in the backyard in Colorado with a beer in one hand and my family all around. That’s my favorite :)

  27. says

You are a lucky lady. I live in Bakersfield and I can’t find those grapes anywhere. I guess I need to drive out of town to get some!

  28. Sarah says

We just moved from GA to MA, so I need a new ID for running….this is perfect timing! My favorite outdoor activity is sunbathing :). And maybe a little run/walking too :)

  29. Kelly says

My favorite outdoor activities are BBQs and relaxing on the beach… if those count! If we’re talking “active” activities, then definitely running and hiking!

  30. Paula says

I always did my runs in DC at 5am to avoid dying in the heat (now that I live in Florida, that will definitely be the optimal running time!). My friends used to yell at me for running alone in the dark; so maybe a RoadID would make everyone feel better. :)

  31. allie says

running! and I used to have an Active ID but lost it so I need to replace it! I get nervous running in the dark in the morning…

  32. says

My favorite outdoor activity is actually hiking – seeing beautiful places while getting a workout. Running is the outdoor activity I do most.

  33. Kim says

Going for a run with my dog. I can’t wait for the weather cool down again so we can start running together again. :)

  34. Emma says

Well, I love running, but hiking in the mountains is probably my fav. I just don’t get to do that very often!

  35. adria biasi says

If I had to pick an outdoor activity besides running it would definitely be hiking!!! Or attempting to surf :)

  36. says

It’s hard to pick a favorite! The activity I do the most outside is walking because it can be done anywhere at anytime and in pretty much any conditions.

  37. says

running — without a doubt. And I absolutely need an id…I’m surprised I haven’t found myself lost in the woods or stranded with a broken ankle because I tripped over an imaginary stick.

  38. says

I can’t wait to try cotton candy grapes. I haven’t seen them yet on the east coast, but then I haven’t been looking for them!

Oh, and of course running is my favorite outdoor sport!

  39. Ms. C. says

Running is my main activity..but one thing I love is just sitting on the porch talking with my mom. She is 82 and this is a precious activity.

  40. says

SURFING in warm water. So Cal in the summer is great but Hawaii is better. Ping pong is second and I saw someone put down drinking so I am jumping on their bandwagon. Drinking beer is way up there on my list. Train Hard, Party Hard. That’s why I like you so much.

  41. LeeAnn says

I enjoy running and mountain biking outdoors – hard to choose a favorite, since I like both for different reasons!

  42. Sarah H says

Running would be my favorite with biking and skating as a close tie for second. But running will always have my heart :)

  43. Ann E says

Running is very high up there, but I also enjoy a good hike up a mountain or even just camping outside and enjoying the peace and quiet. And rock climbing!

  44. April Brown says

My fave outdoor activity is hiking! Or running trails. So being that I am out in the woods, this ID could come in super duper handy!!

  45. Emily M says

it’s a toss up…running, hiking, or laying out and soaking up vitamin D (preferably with a fruity alcoholic beverage in hand 😉

  46. Ashley says

Running, hands down. I don’t care if it is the dead of winter and -20 I would rather run outside than anywhere else. It’s my time and I wouldn’t trade it for the world! It’s also why I love your blog! :)

  47. says

My favorite outdoor activity is running (who woulda thought! Lol). This is the second time this week that I heard about identification like this. I never thought about it before and boy would that be great to have.

Also I need to find those grapes!

  48. Karen says

I have to break it down into seasons because I can’t pick just one
    All seasons – running
    Spring summer fall – kayaking
    Winter- skiing and snowshoeing

  49. Erin Nicole says

My favorite outdoor activity is a day at the beach. But since I’m not really near a beach, I usually have to settle for running :)

  50. says

I love hiking with my dog off leash. It doesn’t happen often, but I love seeing how happy he is being free. Taking him to the dog park and watching him swim around is a close second follòwed by enjoying a nice dinner and glass of wine on a patio

  51. Sarah says

My friends and I live near a hiking trail — we love spending Saturday mornings hiking and catching up with our busy lives!

  52. Nicole J says

I love running (well in my case fast walking), BBQing outside, hiking and before my bike was stolen, riding around.

  53. Ms. C. says

Running is my favorite outdoor sporting activity. My most favorite outdoor activity is sitting on the porch with my mother, she is 82, and just talking and listening to her. She is the greatest!!

  54. Jennifer Noguez says

My fave outdoor actvity is running the 100+ stairs at the sledding hill near my job!! (hope I’m not too late to enter! I could definately use one of these!!)

  55. Danette Swann says

My favorite outdoor activity is sitting on the beach reading a book…but a MOVING activity would be cycling long and winding, rural roads.

  56. Bonnie says

My fav outdoor activity is kayaking, but I can’t do that as often as I’d like, so running is a close second.
