Hello! This morning I tried to sleep in, but my internal body clock was ready to go at 6am. Bah.

Vegas tried to sleep in too, but if I’m up he has to get up and then go right back to sleep.

I started the day with a walk and some stretching. Yesterday I started to get a random cramp in my left glute butt area. Not cool.

Well this is what I eat before a marathon / half marathon / walk around the block:

Sushi and Pizza. Okay, this isn’t an ‘all the time’ thing, just some random craving.

Bananas! I eat a lot of bananas in the week leading up to a race for the potassium. It can help prevent cramping. Coconut water is another good option!

I am drinking a Paloma Cocktail. I consider a ‘lazy margarita’ but it’s a real thing. My friend used to always have them at her parties and I made my own recently and fell in love.

The version all my peeps make is with Squirt. But, I make a skinny version with Fresca or Zevia. If you look it up I guess fancy people say you’re supposed to use grapefruit soda. I’ve only had it that way at restaurants, at people’s houses most do Squirt. If that keeps you up at night you have a really good life.

Skinny Paloma Cocktail

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. tequila (white)
  • Squeeze lime
  • Squirt or Diet soda – grapefruit or citrus

To make: Salt rim of glass. Pour in the goods. Drink.

    I had a dunkin donuts iced caramel latte this morning after running. And now i am getting ready to open a bottle of white whine and watch My 600 pound life, followed by Hoarders and then My Strange Addiction. It’s going to be a wild Saturday night. Lol.

    I’m drinking lots of water!!! Got sunburned at baseball game. But I’m might sneak in some Fox Barrel Cider. Love the new design on your site btw, looks great! Good luck on your race.

      Cayenne pepper simple syrup. Half cup water, half cup sugar, half teaspoon cayenne pepper. Simmer until everything dissolves. Put in every cocktail containing tequila. You’re welcome.

      I recommend drinking with a straw if you do that… I learned the hard way when I had a jalepeno cucumber marg and my lips were on fire! But, you’re probably not a wimp like I am and can handle the heat! :)

    This drink looks perfect for summer. My friend used to drink on Friday night (mostly wine) and text me at 7:00 am Saturday morning to go for a run. Don’t know how she did it, but kudos to those who can!

    Well this is perfect timing! I was flipping through a magazine and came upon a recipe for a Sriracha Margarita which made me think of you (dur!) In case, you don’t already have one, here it is:

    1/2 oz 100% agave tequila
    1oz fresh line juice
    3/4 oz agave syrup
    2 oz mango juice
    1/2 to 1tsp Sriracha (to taste)

    Shake in a cocktail shaker filled with ice and strain into a rocks glass with more ice. Garnish with lime wheel dipped in sugar and charred on both sides on a hot grill

    I don’t drink much tequila, but I enjoy a margarita every now and then. I went out for drinks last night when I was in boston, and got a rosemary gin drink called Rosemary’s Baby. It was delicious.

    I actually just made a note for myself to buy coconut water and bananas next weekend (one week pre-race) in prep for my second HM. During my first, I ended up with a killer cramp from mile 1-2 and kept up the mantra, “This is the hardest part of this race. This is the hardest part of this race.” It totally was! Cramps are the worst.

    Drinks before a race are totally acceptable. I’ve had some of my best races with a little hangover at the start. Just sweat it all out…I’m sure the other runners love the smell of red wine sweat! Whoopsy! :)
