Do Not Wear This Color To Run After You Drink A lot

Running

21 Feb

Hello! How are you? Today I had a little running problem and realized sometimes one might not want to wear bright colors to run…

Okay. Like 98.9% of the time you want to wear bright colors so drivers and bikers and astronauts can see you for safety reasons. But, today the bright orange wick-wear I was sporting was not a good idea.

I drank an iced coffee and a big pre-workout drink while I was getting ready to hit the sidewalk. Obviously I had to pee around mile 3. I tried to stall it, but that was not happening.

So, I looked around for a place to duck and dip. Buuuut, the barren dessert of SoCal is not exactly super thick and lush = random half dead from drought bushes are not great cover.

Plus, I was wearing NEON ORANGE. Bah.

Long story short – I held it, turned back early and just cut it short.

I tried a piece of the new Starburst gum on my trip to Minneapolis and am now obsessed. One of them is good, one is bad. Stay tuned for which (because I seriously can’t remember and need to re-do the taste test but I’m drinking something that will ruin the results).

I put this on everything and basically use it as a dip, dressing, cheese, mayo, lotion, spread, conditioner….

Question: Do you wear mostly BRIGHT colors or muted colors to workout?

Have you mastered the art of being behind a bush?

I have had a couple times when I am out on a run and have to do more than just pee. I go before the run as well, but it will just hit me suddenly and I have learned to take toilet paper with me now since I can’t predict when it will happen. Good times.

I got the cherry gum and thought it would be amazing but it ended up tasting awful to me. It reminded me of medicine and was no where near as delicious as actual Starbursts which I then went out and bought haha.

This happened to me last spring before all of our snow melted. I was wearing my neon green reflective jacket, and had to duck in the woods. Except woods at the end of a snowy winter are not helpful because there’s no tree cover and the ground is covered in snow. So yea, I was the green blob in the woods trying to do my business. Total fail.

I am the master at outside bathroom usage while out on a run. It’s an inevitability, so it’s best to hone the talent.

I am usually in muted colors: black tights or bike shorts with white or grey on top. I should probably wear brighter gear, but I am never drawn to it while shopping…not sure why.

I am betting that Strawberry’s the better of the flavors, but I will wait to hear the official verdict so as not to waste money!

I usually wear black tights / capris but bright tops. I have a couple of loops around my house, where I can generally make it to one of the three bathrooms on the route before I have to duck behind a bush – it hasn’t happened yet!

I have tried the strawberry Starburst gum and I liked it… but then I missed peppermint gum so I forgot about it. 🙂

I have definitely had to pee in the middle of a run, but I normally would just hold it and run back early if I needed to.

I definitely wear bright (i.e. obnoxious) colors when I run. Mostly so the snowplow drivers can see me, but I’m also convinced the brighter the colors, the better my runs are.

My little flat town is blessed with a portapotty (or unknowingly-helpful small business) along each of my longer running routes, so I’m usually able to make it without finding a bush along the way, thank goodness. I also pee about fifteen times before each long run just to make sure I don’t need to go along the way… especially when I’m racing. Then I end up dehydrated and getting side cramps. Not sure which is worse!

I usually wear muted colors because that’s what I have. I also usually run in the early morning darkness and have a headlamp, so wearing bright colors doesn’t do much.

As for peeing, I usually don’t have to go during a run, but I am considering getting a Pstyle. It’s a device women can use to pee standing up. Maybe check out one of those?

I think the cherry one sucks right? I got it when I was picking my husband up from the airport and I haven’t even finished the pack. Blah!

I usually have bright colors on top and black on bottom. I’m pretty good at going behind a bush when I’m in rural areas. You gotta do what you gotta do.

One time I was driving down a back road and this lady was peeing on the side of the road (looks like she was biking) but instead of going in the weeds in the ditch she was in the nice grass, in front of an expensive subdivision, right next to the stop sign. Haha poor planning!

I think I mostly wear white/light colors… haha I guess that helps me if I need to hide behind a snow-covered bush!

I pretty much always wear bright colors because I have almost gotten ran over. Actually last night I almost did too. So frustrating when drivers just don’t look.

I used to lead running clinics and that was every female’s number one concern: holding in a pee while running. There was one mom there that wore grey to her race and she told me after that she’d just splash water on her hoo-ha at each water station, making sure to have some water splotches higher and off to the side so as to blend in the wet spots. Poor thing. It helped that she came in first in her age group though. Sometimes we just gotta have a laugh and shrug it off.

Haha!! I feel for you. When I run here at the far I can stop to pee anytime, only the llamas are bothered by it. Running in public is more challenging. LOL Too funny.

I only wear black pants for sure. I sweat a lot..everywhere. My brighter non black shirts end up so sweat soaked that they are no longer bright. I’m ok with that I guess. 🙂

I can pee behind a bush . I mastered that in college.

Unfortunately for me, it leaks right out of me after having 2 kids so I have no option to hold it when I run. Those muscles just don’t work for me anymore 🙁
