I heard a rumor that the 4th of July is the MOST POPULAR 5k and 10k Race Day of the year! That would make sense since Thanksgiving is pretty popular, but the weather can rule out a race in some places. So today we’re talking about what to wear for one of the most popular fun run days = USA Independence Day.
Want to run a 5k or 10k on Independence Day?
How to find a race:
Check out your local newspaper or neighborhood newsletter for smaller races.
Active.com has bigger races
Half Marathons.net has half marathons (Captain Obvious is in the building)
What to wear to an Independence Day Race
Red Blue and White:
Red Tank (my open back from Fabletics would work) / Blue Running Shorts / Red White and Blue Compression Socks
Red White and Blue:
Blue Tank / Red Shorts / Compression Socks with stars and stripes
Or if you want to be girly and runner-y at the same time – check out the Blue Star Sparkle Skirt
Optional accessories:
Fun red headband // flag designed headband // Star Sparkly Headband
Question: Are you running a 4th of July themed race?
GOOOOOOD LUCK!

This is actually my first year running a Fourth of July 5k!

Good luck Heather!

Not only does my town host a 4th of July race, but it also gives out WATERMELONS as prizes for top 3 finishers in each age/gender category. A prize that rehydrates you (deliciously) and does not become a dustcatcher in your household later is a major triumph for race organization.

So cool!

DIE!!!! I would run my heart out to win!!!

I’m running the Peachtree Road Race. My 4th time and this year I have to fly home for it from California. Oh the things we do for a race.
runeatrepeat says
SR is doing it too! Good luck!
Cate says
Four on the 4th! Love how we get pint glasses instead of tees at the race. I plan to wear my red, white and blue compression socks unless it’s crazy hot!
runeatrepeat says
I love fun race swag like that.

Megan @ Skinny Fitalicious says
You always have the best race outfits! I usually do a 4 miler on the 4th, but this year I’m sidelined with injury.

I love holiday races! Always so much fun! I won’t be running one this year but I will be running so I will totally get into the spirit!
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner says
I’ll be running but probably not a themed race. I’ll be visiting friends in Venice Beach so I’ll probably run to the beach and around the area.
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
There is a local run that I do often. It’s a 4 miler. I might do it. I’ll make up my mind the morning of. Unfortunately my only red running shirt is long sleeve. But I have lots of blue summery shirts.

I just got my star and stripes procompression socks for my 15k on Saturday 🙂

I already ran a similar race for Memorial Day! It was the Cotton Row 5k (my picture is from that day)! The next race I’m registered for isn’t until September, so I’ll be grilling on the 4th of July. Holla.
