How Do You Know It’s Working?

Hello! How’s it going? Yesterday I had what felt like a good workout at the gym. But I feel like I don’t know for sure if I got in a good workout until the next day… you know when you open your eyes and slide outta bed and BOOM. You think to yourself  “shit I am sore, this is gonna be rough” as you walk to the bathroom.

I kind of love that feeling or should I say, pain. The pain of a good workout that makes you sore is like some kind of sick reward, right? I mean I don’t want to waste my time working out – I want to know it’s working. And the results on the scale or in the mirror take a while to show. So that little burn in your quads or butt or triceps – that’s what tells ya what you did yesterday woke up your muscles and said, “Hey! Let’s get it together!!” I use a really good muscle relaxer with natural ingredients whenever my muscles are sore.

Or is that just me?

Fitness is important and there are no shortcuts. Even celebrities take their workouts seriously. For example, Miles Teller’s workout routine includes a daily 5-mile run.

But I bribed her with stickers and my willingness to just do whatever she wanted so I think we’re cool now.

Turns out she’s kinda a creeper and just wanted to stare at some guy doing laps in the pool for 15 minutes. Seriously. But I’m not here to judge so we hung out and made the guy super uncomfortable and just relaxed by the pool (outside the fence).

Question: How do you measure if your workout is ‘good enough’ or working??

    I love being sore as long as i can still walk and function. But that slight soreness when you stretch or move around is wonderful! That is how i know i had a good workout.

    I think feeling a little sore the following day is an indication of a productive workout. After all, we’re breaking down muscles and rebuilding them. It’s natural to feel that. I always just try to be mindful of the difference between soreness and injury. It took a while for me to learn what my body could handle and what it couldn’t.

    Being sore makes me feel like I’m a badass. I can just FEEL the muscles being all impressive and stuff. I especially love it if it’s soreness from working out the abs.

    Love/hate for sure! Not a fan of being in pain when I have to pee, or sneeze or cough…you get the idea. I guess I don’t mind the upper body soreness. My abs are super sore today. I got lax with them and now it’s payback time!

    I love upper body and ab sore but I hate lower body sore because when my legs and butt are sore I cannot walk move around at my normal lightening pace.

    I love the burn! When I can’t really walk downstairs properly my colleagues are usually freaked out but it’s how I know it’s working!! On the other hand, DOMS is no joke. Pisses me right off!

    Being sore is the BEST. I did bodypump today and know I’m going to feel it tomorrow. You know sh*t is real when you’re same-day sore.

    If I can improve doing the same workout then I know it’s working at making me stronger/faster/fitter
    I love being sore. I just don’t like being injured and sometimes there is a fine line that is a little too blurry for my taste 🙂

    I totally love being sore….but not TOO sore! That moment when you’re lying in bed and wondering if it’s going to hurt or not…the best!

    Used to be…when I worked out, my arms felt like jello and that’s how I knew. Now that I’ve been training with weights, I only feel that way when I have a new routine. I know I’ve had a good workout when I sweat a LOT. When I’m lifting weights, I know it’s a good workout IF I can increase my weights (or reps) from the last time I did that particular routine. I wouldn’t say that I love being sore…bt I really am not crazy about it either. Especially when it hurts sore. :-/
