Run Eat Repeat

Snowed In

19 Dec

My run was canceled due to the snow. By the time I woke up there were several inches on the ground and it was still coming down! I considered it for a second, but then realized I was freezing last weekend on my long run and it wasn’t even snowing then!IMG_3323

So, Ben and I opted for the apartment’s gym. I did 6 miles on the treadmill. It was like old times 🙂 I used to run 6 miles on my treadmill 5 days a week. I did that for years until I finally got the courage to run outside!IMG_3318

Speaking of my past – After running six miles I would often have a South Beach bar or Kashi GoLean for breakfast with yogurt = 250 calories. Then, I would pack a max 400 calorie lunch and starve until I got home, couldn’t take it anymore and binged. This went on through college and I hated myself for my lack of willpower. I couldn’t lose weight, drove myself crazy and ended up gaining. Now I am struggling to learn Intuitive Eating. Learn a lesson from me, fuel yourself well. Treat your body right.

This California girl woke up to snow! It is crazy here! Ben and I are making an effort to really enjoy it though because this may be our only winter in the snow. Who knows what next year will bring?!IMG_3320

Despite the cold I really just wanted a big bowl of fruit or a smoothie for breakfast.IMG_3325 I went with fruit and a bagel with PB. I have decided I really enjoy bagels and should eat them guilt free 🙂 and I do.IMG_3327

We are planning a walk to the mall. We aren’t even sure if the mall is open, but I want to walk around in the snow either way!! Enjoy this day, who knows where you will be a year from now!!

Remember when I packed up everything that would fit in Ben’s car and moved across the country? Well, yeah that wasn’t such a good idea, but that’s not the point.

I managed to pack so many clothes by using huge space saver bags. Today I had to crack open the bag with my skiing pants. I’m so glad I brought them!!!IMG_3328

I’m usually a treadmill kind of girl, but today I ran around a neighborhood. Personally, I prefer the treadmill…

I am totally in the same situation now! And the snow won’t melt away. We have about -10C and I was supposed to do my long run today but its not happening! I am also really scared of slipping…I think I could handle the cold, but am so afraid to fall!

Woa you did 6 miles on a treadmill for a while huh? I did about 4 miles on the treadmill for months until I got tough and went outside….that led to marathon training so I am gladI finally had the guts to go outside. When I read people do 15-20 miles on a treadmill for marathon training I am BLOWN AWAY. The longest I have ever stayed on a treadmill was 10 miles and that was depressing!

Looks like you got a ton of snow….I am in MA and so far nothing, I guess some is coming tonight.

I totally did the same thing with diet/exercise years ago – 1 hour cardio, smallest breakfast, smallest lunch then I would binge when I got home, such a bad cycle! I still find myself struggling to make sure I eat enough calories during the day so I don’t binge when I get home….sometimes I feel like I should save them for dinner but that never ends well!!

      Happy weekend,

      Katie

I’m loving all that snow and jealous. That seems like the unhealthy diet I used to do too. Glad I learned how to fuel my body the right way.
