Watermelon Sangria Should Be the ONLY Sangria

23 Jul

Hello! I had a great run this morning – went out for another tempo attempt. I was on track to be faster than last week, but my Garmin died at 9.5 miles. I did 10 and was cooling down the last mile at that point. Bah.

tempo tuesday run

In happy news… I have a ‘recipe’ for Watermelon Sangria that just changed my life.

drink watermelon sangria (600x800)

I put ‘recipe’ in quotes because it’s not technically a recipe according to the National Recipe Commission as that requires Pinterest quality photographs and 84 steps.

But this drink did make my weekend and Monday night significantly better.

watermelon sangria (600x800)

This Watermelon Sangria Recipe is in honor of Drink Watermelon Day – it’s a real day July 24th!!

Even Beyonce celebrates.

ive been drinking watermelon

Watermelon Sangria.

watermelon sangria recipe for life

Ingredients: 2 bottles rosé wine, 2 cups chopped watermelon (chopped per my technique), 1 bottle sparkling wine or champagne.

Combine wine and watermelon. Let sit for a few hours. Add sparkles. Drink.

Repeat.

Question: Do you have a favorite ‘adult’ beverage? What is it?

Champagne plus anything. Or plus nothing, either way.

I wonder if you could use sparkling water instead of the champagne in the recipe? Think I’ll try it.

My favorite adult beverage(s) are the ones that are the worst for you but since I don’t consume them very often, I think they are allowed. With that said, give me a frozen flavored margarita, piña colada, or any tropical “beach-type” frozen drink! A mudslide will do nicely as well.

What a coincidence! I just posted today about my alter ego, Beyonce, and watermelon margaritas. I love me some watermelon with booze!

I mean, its serendipitous that sangria and sandía sound so similar, they MUST go together 😉

The color looks fantastic! But my most ‘adult beverage’ I drink is Dr. Pepper, on rare occasions.
Otherwise, homemade grape juice KILLS me! Can’t get enough of it.

Hate it when my Garmin runs out of juice before the end of the run. I’m such a stats geek at heart and hate missing the last part of my run stats!

Lately I have been enjoying fruit flavoured cider as a refreshing summer drink, I also love anything with bubbles – Think cava, prosecco, champagne! This sounds like a drink I could make!

Vodka gimlet with a splash of Sprite (zero if I’m making it at home) but I do have to try your watermelon margarita before the summer is over!

I just made a great summer drink last weekend. Pineapple and mango in a blender. (I used slightly defrosted frozen fruit. ) then stir in some spiced rum! Really refreshing. 🙂 and healthy. Lol.

Sangria in the summer, mulled wine in the winter. Although, I would like to be able to drink seasonal beers… I’ve never had beer before.

Yum! I like juicing watermelon and mixing the fresh juice with a clear liquor like tequila or vodka and either mint or lime to make a cocktail!

My favorite adult beverage is probably beer. I can’t do too much of the sweet stuff anymore – I may have had too much during college…
