Hello! Last week I had a whole box of fancy, delicious food delivered to my door. So here is my Blue Apron Review and an opportunity for you to get 2 meals free!
A rep from Blue Apron contacted me a while ago about trying their homemade dinner delivery service. Even though I LOVE food I don’t consider myself a great cook (just great eater) so I was all about someone sending me ingredients and instructions on how to make a legit fancy meal.

My 3 meals were Parmesan Crusted Chicken, Rice Flake Crusted Salmon and Cheesy Broccoli Rotini Casserole.
I made the Salmon first because it’s my FAVORITE. After pizza my ideal dinner is salmon, sweet potatoes and greens. Seriously – I have proof from 2012. And that is exactly what they sent except… it had a delicious Asian twist!!

I even busted out my whisk – I don’t know if I’ve ever used this thing!
This is soy sauce and miso paste – something I’ve never used at home before!

The salmon and sweet potatoes came out amazing. I love that I cooked with new-to-me ingredients so I learned about spice combos I can use again.

Since I had leftovers I was happy to bust this out the next day for lunch too! Bonus.

The second meal was Cheesy Broccoli Rotini Casserole. I am a fan of casseroles, but always use the stand-by Cream of Mushroom soup for the base – this required some flour and milk and came together easily and I felt a lot more chef-y.

Since the casserole made so much I actually took a serving out and gave the rest to my brother and SIL. They LOVED it and text me about it the next day!

The last meal was Parmesan Crusted Chicken with Kale Caesar Salad and Toasted Hazelnuts.

Truthfully, when the ingredients came in the box all together I thought this was for the Rotini – I had never used Celeriac before!

I have breaded chicken in the past, but not using the double breading technique the steps taught me. This made it very crispy!

But even with clear cut steps your Monican shows her true not-fancy colors… I burnt the crap out of the hazelnuts! Ha! It was totally my fault because I was on the phone while cooking and forgot about them.

This dish was amazing! The salad was kale with a delicious Caesar dressing. The steps showed it with chopped chicken, but I thought this presentation looked fancier for the blog.

The step-by-step guide with pictures made it super easy to make all these fancy (to me) dishes.
The important stuff:
- Each menu is between 500-700 calories per person.
- Meals are $9.99 per person with free shipping
- Blue Apron recipes are delivered in a refrigerated box so ingredients will stay fresh even if you’re not at home when your package arrives.
- There’s no commitment – you can skip or cancel the service at any time!

3 New Things I learned from Blue Apron:
1. Breading using the dry/wet/dry technique gets chicken super crispy!
2. Celeriac is a vegetable.
3. Sweet potatoes and a soy/Asian dressing go amazing together!
Bonus lesson: Hello, watch your chestnuts if they only have to be toasted for 4 minutes and don’t get caught up with your friend on the phone even if it’s a really good story!!!

Question: What did you have for dinner last night?
Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Blue Apron. All opinions are my own.

THANK YOU!! I know it’s been several months since this was originally posted, but I was fortunate enough to redeem the 2 free meals when I started an account with them tonight. I’m a runner, but had arthroscopic hip surgery 2 weeks ago and am stuck on crutches for another month. Blue Apron sounds like a perfect solution, as it’s extremely difficult for me to do things like grocery shopping on my own, and I feel badly dragging the bf around to every errand. Now I can surprise him with a freshly cooked meal when he gets home!
I use Home Bistro. The difference is I don’t have to prepare the meals, they are ready to go. It helps me watch those dreaded calories too. I love the service, choices and it fits into my food budget.
Thank you! I just ordered my first box for $39.95 instead of the $59. something they were asking. I can’t wait to try this. I’ve read about a hundred pages of reviews, so I feel I know what to expect when my package arrives, and I can’t wait. Our first three meals look amazing. Thanks for the referral bonus 🙂

I had these same meals and LOVED them! Especially the salmon with asian twist! Those potatoes were my favorite!!!
I made Blue Apron!! I had the pork and congee from last weekend’s delivery- it was ok- not my favorite of the bunch, but I’m obsessed with the concept!
I did an Insanity workout!
Mmmm i want salmon!!! (Potm check in= rest day. working till 330 then heading to boston for the Bruins game!!!)
A gorgeous 3 mile walk with my husband, and the noisy noisy basset hounds!
Noodles with stir fried tofu, bell peppers (I love them!) and mushrooms.
Never heard of celeriac…which obviously mean I didn’t know they are veggies. 😛
Went to crossfit tonight! Feeling great!
5 miles on the dreadmill
I’ve never had celeriac before. Interesting
4 miles after work today in the misty rain
4.75 miles today (miscalculated, meant to run 5) for challenge!
Day 5- Body Pump Class and Spin Class!
Pile on the miles. I ran 2.0 miles
Just finished 2.5 miles!
These look good, I just wish you could pick the meals they send you. I’m a picky eater!
Did Ben eat the meals too?
No, he’s traveling right now so he wasn’t home. But my brother and sister in law ate them and loved the Rotini and the chicken!
Considered going for a run, then opted for a brisk walk with my Boston Terrier. Will be running first thing tomorrow morning!
They sound like great meals! Part of the challenge I find when wanting to try something new is to know what flavour combinations work together. This shows you exactly what combos are good, and then you can replicate them. So simple!
I had a vegie fettuccine 🙂
That kale caesar looks amazing!!
I had sopes and asada tacos! They were so good.
Pasta (and maybe a couple leftover pieces of pizza that I couldn’t resist due to starving after nine miles)
I always want pizza 🙂
I ran 3.4 miles this morning.
4 mile run + body pump! Great workout!
9.99 per serving is a great deal! I wish they had blue apron in Canada. I am fighting a cold and all I wanted for dinner last night was soup – it was delicious!
I’ve finally needed to start cooking since you only get so many years after college being tragic in the kitchen. Fpr the past year or so ive seeked out new recipes and ot can be fun 🙂 Laat night, I made brats, sauerkraut and potatoes because I oh so German.
I had pork chops and steamed veggies it was not very filling but we were rushed for time!
I have seen Blue Aprons advertisements around before, I will have to see if my boyfriend wants to try it out.
Dinner last night was pork loin and apples in the slow cooker with roasted butternut squash and Brussels sprouts.
I think Blue Apron looks like fun – sort of a self-led cooking class!
Yes, that’s a good analogy!
Lucky you! I’ve seen blue apron all over the blog world and want to try it!
I had homemade chicken noodle soup last night. This morning for Pile on the Miles I ran 2 miles on the treadmill and biked 8 miles indoor.
Boo, they don’t deliver to Minnesota! That’s ok, we’ve been cooking up some really good food in my house lately. Last night was Apple Sage Pork Chops with baked sweet potatoes. Great Fall meal!
Love baked sweet potatoes 🙂
Awesome!!! I’m excited to try!! I got a response that said ” when we begin shipping to your area your wait will be 4 weeks.” ! I guess that means I’m in ?
I did a barre workout this morning!
these look like some pretty incredible meals!
a good friend here in CA has been RAVING ABOUT THIS.
I need to check it out for myself…
I had salad and chips + salsa last night. Delicious!
Mixed greens, alfalfa sprouts, veggie burger made from quinoa and a lot of guacamole 🙂 oh and a handful of sea salt kettle potato chips. It was filling and tasty and since I only had to use the microwave no one got hurt!
