Hola! I made itβ¦ I made it to the start line, I made it to the finish line and I made it home. The RnR Las Vegas Half Marathon is done! I consider it a success that I had it together enough to accomplish all that β the bonus is that it was a BLAST.
Here are the top 10 reasons to run RnR Las Vegas Half Marathonβ¦
1. This is the only race I can get my friends to come to because you know, itβs Vegas baby!
2. You can stay limber with some pre-race cardio.
3. The weather is the opposite of humid. Good for running, bad for keeping my hair curledβ¦
4. Pre-race carb game is strong.
5. So much access to adult beverages to help ya forget you have to run 13.1 miles at 4:30pm in the afternoon.
I guess tequila brings out the animal in me?
6. Location location location. This course canβt be beat!
7. Tons of stores so itβs no big if you forget something.
It was FREEZING so I went shopping for some warmer gear to wear for the race. I grabbed this Vegas beanieβ¦
And considered this pizza / hot dog one-sie, but was vetoed by my peeps.
(I know what youβre thinkingβ¦ yes, I was a weirdo barefoot in H&M. #dontjudge)
In case youβre also thinking, I DO NEED AN ADULT ONESIE!!!
Red Plaid Adult Onesie or Leopard footie PJsΒ – Youβre welcome.
8. People you meet at 4am during a game of corn hole will be really impressed you are going to run 13 miles the next day. They might even throw the game since they know youβre not going to win the race and winning corn hole is the next best thingβ¦
9. You can get married in the middle of the race!!! Ideally to someone you already knowβ¦
10. Itβs kinda like Run, Eat, Repeat but betta.
Now for some race detailsβ¦
Pre-race fuel β breakfast-y foods. Running an afternoon race is hard to navigate with fuel. I try to keep it to what Iβm used to and hydrate well.
I ended up wearing the beanie and found a βI can sleep when I leave Vegasβ tee for my toss gear.
I was stalling heading to the start line because I didnβt want to hang out in the cold. I made it barely barely in time.
Note the teddy bear guy belowβ¦
The course starts on the strip toward the south end and you run all the way to downtown and back down the strip.
My hydration was all off since Iβm not used to late races and I had to stop and pee around Mile 5. I donβt like doing that, but itβs better than peeing your pants and/or suffering the whole time.
RnR Las Vegas Half 1:55: 45 done and done.
Post race victory lap.
And then it was time to leave Las Vegas⦠I was sad but needed some sleep!! Overall it was an epic weekend, super fun race and everything I could have imagined for a Vegas getaway with my peeps!
Question: Where is your happy place?
Charley Brown says
Did anyone find a charm braclet with charms from Nike SF , Nike DC and two hearts on it? I lost it during the run and some cruel person told me they found it but it was a scam.
Lex @ Flecksoflex says
Man! I really wanted to do that race! It looks like so much fun! Question for you: What is cold in Vegas? It was 26 degrees at the start of my race yesterday in Maryland, and that was cold.
Jennifer says
I just got home from Vegas. Ran the full marathon. It was my first. I realized about halfway through that this was a really random race to choose as my first, but it was epic! Loved the strip and really loved running down Fremont Street. I enjoyed reading your recap. It was similar to our experience there. Great weekend!

Congratulations!!!
Christina @ The Beautiful Balance says
That’s hilarious that there’s a run-through-wedding during the race haha I wonder if anyone got married

Love the atmosphere and love that you ran at night!

Never been to Vegas, but considering the RnR half for next year. My happy place is back on my college campus- sounds super-cheesy, but my heart is just happier there.
Cocomama says
This was our first year running RnR Vegas and it is for sure a new tradition for my primita and me! SUCH A BLAST!
Navigating the fuel was definitely tricky! We didn’t eat anything after a late breakfast (after partying too late the night before) and were severely dehydrated (for the same reason as late breakfast).
I puffy heart Vegas.
runeatrepeat says
Me too!!
Dana says
Your blue dress looks awesome! Where did you get it? Great job on the half!
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan says
At least the late start didn’t get in the way of your fun! π
Looks like a great weekend!
Kailin @ Logs and Thoughts says
My happy place is the Warner Parks (west side of Nashville)–11+ miles of running trails, 15+ miles of very lightly traveled roads (usually one way), 5+ miles of mountain biking trails. I just want to go now! A very close second is Hawaii.
Brooke@runningonchange says
My happy place is the Grand Canyons I absolutely love it there!
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Great job! My happy place is the beach in Southwest Florida where I’m from, but I live a long way from there in San Francisco. I’d love to do a race in Las Vegas, especially if it ended with ice cream like that. Happy Tuesday!
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner says
Looks like you had a great time! My happy place is by water. Love the ocean, lakes, and rivers.
Colleen says
Looks like so much fun! This is on my race bucket list for sure.
sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
My happy place is by the ocean. Luckily I live on the East Coast.
I got married in Vegas (well technically Red Rock Canyon)
I love the photos from that race. All the neon glowing in the background.
Looks like you had a lot of fun. And I love that your post-race victory lap ice cream got 2 photos! =)
I do love Vegas. The one whose mug is always on your Instagram too!

My 2nd favorite Vegas π
Not sure which is which sometimes…
Kelsie says
I ran the half as well – It was really cold at first but I warmed up quickly. The course was amazing…but yes, definitely hard to fuel/prep for an afternoon race! And I stayed at the Luxor so the 2 mile walk back after crossing the finish line was DEATH!
runeatrepeat says
Yes! I rushed back to the hotel because I knew I’d get colder by the second!!
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub says
Looks like a great time! I love that you were out partying till 4am the night before. I want to do Vegas next year for sure. The one year I was supposed to do it I got injured. But I love the vegas!
Meranda@Fairytalesandfitness says
Congrats on a great race! I actually saw a runner proposing to another runner in front of one of the wedding chapels ( during the race). I should have started counting wedding chapels as I ran by. There were a ton!
runeatrepeat says
Awwww that is the sweetest!!
