Hello! I ran the OC Marathon this morning and am sharing my results and thoughts and most importantly… eats!

Let’s take a step into Tomorrowland yesterday and talk about the big fight from yesterday. My fam had a big party and full on put the TV outside for some reason. I don’t know, but the weather was perfection so it worked.

I just came to see MJ and eat all the food!

OC Marathon Results and Recap

This morning I had a ridiculously early wake up call because the OC Marathon starts at 5:30am! Crazy, but smart because it’s warm in SoCal.

Doing my warm-up, acting a fool…

It was good to run with my friends for a bit – SkinnyRunner and Kristin from StuftMama. No one is really in “A” game shape (it’s more like F game) so we were all just shooting for a sub-4 hour marathon. Sadly, we all split from eachother pretty early – I dropped off to pee, then Kristin and SR had to go on solo.

The race course: It’s point to point starting in Newport Beach near Fashion Island and ends at the Fairplex in Costa Mesa. The point to point is a little bit of a ‘thing’ but it actually was pretty smooth sailing!

SR and I jumped on a bus pretty quickly and got back to her car fast.

I feel like the course is hilly. The elevation chart shows that it goes down in elevation, but it doesn’t feel like that at all.

The OC Marathon / half marathon is well organized. Started pretty much on time, easy to find info on the website. Fun. Run. Done.

Post run SR and I hit up Whole Foods for ALL THE FOOD!

And now I’m chilling and eating and relaxing.

Ran Bloomsday in Spokane, WA. I’ve run OC Marathon before and the former company I used to work for even times it but nothing beats running one of the largest road race in the country and the atmosphere is amazing. It’s not a marathon but an awesome 12K to run. The after party and hanging out with friends is what makes it such a great race.

I ran the OC half marathon this weekend! Had a PR of 2:21:07…and I too thought the course was more hilly than the elevation chart showed. I loved the course; it is SO pretty. I’m from Phoenix, so anything other than desert and cactus covered mountains is pretty to me!

Congratulations!!! Agree! I feel like the elevation chart makes it look like it’s down hill, but it does not feel like that.

I did my first full at the OCMarathon yesterday. Man! All I can say is thank goodness for that cloud cover, it would have been miserable without it! I was pretty happy – I had injured myself early on and did half my training on the elliptical. I still squashed my “I won’t cry if I make it my 4:40:00” goal and made it in by 4:26. Marathons are HARD!

      Your niece. So presh. LOVE!

I ran the half yesterday; not my best, not my worst…but I did shave off 3 minutes from my 2013 time. So there is that! Avocado half up next on 5/23. Are you running that this year?

You’ve got some serious speed! Really smart of them to start it at 5:30. We had a marathon up here once in September and they started it at 8:30, which was SO DUMB. It hit 85 degrees and there were people super sick and DNFing all over the place. My husband ran it for his first marathon and he only survived because I was driving around meeting him with cold water and Gatorade. Scary!

Congrats! I think that is a pretty impressive time for being on your “f game”!

Best thing that I ate was golden chicken coconut curry. My parents were visiting and bought take out from the local Thai place. I know you can appreciate good Thai food!

Great finish for not feeling very prepared! The best thing(s) I did this weekend were finish my last marathon pace long run and go and visit my mom.

I looked for you at the marathon, but sadly I couldn’t find you – probably b/c it was still nighttime when we started running 😉 The race was definitely well-organized and the weather was perfect! I finished in 3:38:26 – a PR AND a BQ!! Stoked! My appetite has been total crap today, but I still managed to down some fish tacos – and froyo with all the unhealthy toppings. Oh, and a TON of fruit. Tomorrow s/b interesting, I think I will probably eat my refrigerator. BTW, I totally agree that it was hilly.

Congrats on another good race! Best thing I did this weekend was sit out in the glorious sun on the deck (winter was roooofff)! Best thing I ate: I’m in a delicious and simple salad rut: baby spinach, tuna, greek seasoning and a giant blob of guac. Eaten out of a big serving bowl like I’m at a trough because the boyfriend’s away and the cat doesn’t judge

Congrats!! What an awesome time. I’m especially impressed that you were able to stop to pee and still finish under 3:50!

Best thing I did all weekend was finally buy new running shoes AND donate all my old ones! Feels good to step into a fresh pair!

Congrats on completing the OC full. I did the half and well, I need to redeem myself in Long Beach. Anywho, just curious as to where you get your running shorts. The ones I have are really short and are giving me chafing now 🙁 I love wearing compression socks when I race, and am interested in finding shorts in the length that you are wearing in the picture above. Thanks in advance!
