CHEAT DAY and Using an Inversion Table

My Life

12 Oct

Hello! Happy Monday! How was your weekend? Did you run the Chicago Marathon? Long Beach Marathon?? Around your neighborhood??? Tell me.

I spent the day helping my brother and SIL move. Well, they didn’t need a lot of help with the heavy lifting, but they didn’t some help with the cute lifting…. I hung out with my niece and watched her for them.

I think she’s starting to like me a little because I taught her how to “cheers!” with a banana and gave her some pan dulce. Don’t tell her mom!!

We had a lot of junk food because… I bought it. Hey, it was a cheat day and I knew everyone would be hungry. Isn’t it more fun to eat with other people?

Yes. Yes.

My niece and her two adults moved a little farther away than where they were before, which is kind of a bummer. But it’s also perfectly on the way to my best friend’s house (she lives in Palm Springs) so I’m planning a monthly weekend trip to see all my favorite people. This will work out great.

In fitness related news…

My brother has an inversion table – have you every tried one?

I tried his once before and loved it. It feels soooooo good on my lower back. I can feel it stretching and relaxing. I also can feel that my right side is tighter than my left. <- Good stuff to know because muscle imbalances can lead to injury.

I kind of want to get one (my brother even offered to give me his) but I have no where to put it. This one folds small and you can put it under your bed, but my bed has drawers and isn’t one you can put stuff under.

I also ate all of their kiwis because they were so good. There were no knives unpacked so I just ate it like an apple. It’s good for you.

And in the true spirit of cheat day I got fries and ice cream on the way home. (My thoughts on ‘cheat day’ coming in another post. I use that term very lightly.)

It was a very good day.

Question: What was the BEST thing you did or ate or saw this weekend?

Best thing I did was not drop dead after running two half marathons this weekend with a cold! And ironically I am not even sore.
Best thing I ate was a warm apple crisp at the Cheesecake Factory. Yeah I am the one person that doesn’t get cheesecake for dessert there. lol.

Best thing I did/saw this weekend: Lake Tahoe. I ran the Marathon on Sunday and it was in-SANELY beautiful.
Best thing I ate: Everything post-marathon. Especially the buttered rolls at Texas Roadhouse. I had never been until last night … They were incredible.

That ice cream … at 240 calories looks AMAZING! Best thing I ate all weekend? Panera’s autumn soup and their new turkey sandwich on cranberry bread. Talk about amazing!!! Best thing I did / saw all weekend? Went hiking with my youngest son and had the most amazing view of the Connecticut River valley. It was breath taking … all the leaves are turning color, so it was amazing. Today I went to see my older son at college because I missed him. Had eggs and an English muffin at Denny’s. I was pretty good, too. Could have had waffles and strawberries, but my cheat day passed. 🙂

Did the Long Beach Marathon yesterday, our first. It was so freaking hot, 91 by the time we finished. But finish we did, a little over our goal time, probably due to the heat and the fact that they started the half marathoners with the marathoners so it took a good 11 miles to be able to get up to our goal pace and break away from the crowds. What an experience. Thans for all your great posts, I live in Orange County and I swear every time I am running and I see a red head I am wonder if it is you!

I rarely eat fast food but I tried to go to Wendy’s the other day. I’m new to the city so I put it in my GPS but when it said “you have arrived” there was no Wendy’s to be found! So I took it as the universe telling me “no!” LOL

There are SO many things about this post! Your niece is adorable. My niece is now 8 and I’m still in love. AND ice cream at 240 calories a pint! Where do I buy this stuff? AND I’ve always wanted feedback on an inversion table. Such good info to know. I might have to get one! Have a great week!
