Hello! How are you doing? I’m tired. And hungry. Anyway. I have some great info for ya today – what to do when you get stung by a bee on your run. Scroll down for more.
But first, lets’s have a little moment to enjoy this pizza. We tried the gluten free pizza from Dominos and the Brooklyn style pizza. Both are really amazing. I was pleasantly surprised!
This morning I set out for a speed run. Remember the other day when I mentioned that there are a long of bees around the path that I run when I do speed work? Well, I wasn’t too worried about it since they hadn’t really seemed to come after me – until today. I was on my 3rd 800 meter and felt a stab on my shoulder blade. I let out a little scream (okay a big scream) and reached back to touch where it hurt as I stopped to walk.
When my left hand brushed my right shoulder blade I felt a fuzzy lil \bee! Ahhhhhhhh!!! I brushed him off my shirt and started to run again.
I got stung!
Ugh. I’ve been aware of those bees for a while now but wasn’t too worried about it since they hadn’t bugged me at all in the past. Now I have to find a new flat stretch for doing speed work. I might just run up and down the parking lot – gotta get it in.
I left my mark, literally.
And I wanted to share a really great ‘fit tip’ = If you get stung by a bee the best cure is to eat tamales. Good food fixes 98% of the problems in the world. I really just think people who start wars are those on a low carb diet that took it too far. The end.
Now I’m off to get some work done and be super productive like a little worker bee.
I decided to take some Benadryl and walk it off, but now I’m fighting falling asleep in front of the computer!

a few years ago i got in my car and felt something fall into the back of my pants and then boom i felt the sting. i debated pulling over or stopping in traffic, but waited until i got home. i had a sore backside for a few days haha.

Carbs cure everything! I was having a really cranky day this weekend and I quickly realised that this low carb thing was not for me. (Not that I was ever super low carb, just that I’d cut out a lot that week). I ate a huge tuna sarnie and had a nap and felt much better when I woke up!

Your sweat mark on the sidewalk made me laugh out loud! Sorry that buggar got you! I’ve been stung once I think. Hurt like a MUTHA!
So you did like the GF from Domino’s? I may give that a try sometime.
Caryn says
POTM check in: no run for me today, but have a church league volleyball game to look forward to!

Pizza! Love meat lovers pizza. It’s my favorite and a real treat. Bee stings stink. I use a paste of baking soda and water, which would not be readily available for a run. Good thing is the pain doesn’t last too long and later it just feels annoying. Benadryl – yuck.
Stacey says
Check in for POTM15 for yesterday 11/02/15: 30 Minute Les Mills Body Combat Workout
Also, I despise stinging things but love your cure!!!

I totally agree that people that don’t eat carbs are the ones that start wars because they are sad. really sad people.
adrianna says
cannot believe that happened. agreed–food makes nearly all things better!
POTM: walked 2 miles to/from the gym, hard-ass spinning class

Never been stung – and I am scared to! My sis is VERY allergic and I don’t know if that stuff is genetic. Anyways, avoid, avoid, avoid. Cross/strength training today at the gym. Rest day tomorrow so I can spend the afternoon with fav little peep. I will be doing 800s on Wed. I hate them. Necessary evil. Wish me luck 🙂
Denise says
POTM check-in. No activity today. I tried but am still very sore from my fall. I’m going to try again tomorrow

I wish that pizza cheese didn’t make my stomach kill so bad, otherwise I would eat it a lot more!
But I have definitely been stung by a bee running on trails out here and it totally blows! SO itchy!
Debra says
Next time you are stung make a paste out of baking soda and water and apply to the sting site. Let it sit for a few mins then rinse off and you will be good as new.

Checking in for POTM today, 5.1, hope you feel better, I’m stressed, I had to have my cat Oliver put down today, I’d had him 2 months, he was 10 adopted 3 weeks after my 15 yr old cat Sonoma died, I’ll be running a lot this month…
Marie at the Lazy W says
I’m a beekeeper here in Oklahoma but actually have only been stung a few times. Often you can rub a little honey on the sting, better than Benadryl.
Feel better!! LOL
Also checking in for POTM. Just 3 today.

Man,it’s lucky you’re not allergic! I only found out earlier this year in an unfortunate way. On my birthday. In Florida. After a wonderful day at the Magic Kingdom, I ended up in the hospital looking like a linebacker.
Rachael @ Catch Me if You Can says
oh man if i had been stunk it would have been way worse than laying on the ground. so i may have been attacked by a nest of yellow jackets when i was a kid and it may have scared me for life, but whatever those things are evil!! im surprised a bee stung you though, dont they die if they sting you? might be wrong, im no zoologist lol. love the sweat print on the concrete that is priceless!
Patty says
Yes I have been stung. It ends up being super itchy for about a week!
Did my cross training today…indoors…no bees
Tanya says
Ack! I just got stung by a bee while out on a walk this week. Just like yours, mine was a sneaky one. It hid under a pile of leaves until it was time to sting my ankle. No fun!
Flower says
Yes I have, once. That was all it took for me to realize….ALLERGIC! So, my only options are: carry an epi pen or die. I choose the epi pen.
Hope your sting feels better soon. I’ve heard that vodka really helps….(You’ll have to drink it though). 🙂
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
I had some macaroni and cheese pizza yesterday and it was phenomenal. Chicago has ruined pizza for me forever and I will never be able to eat at a chain again. Hope your sting feels better!
