Hello! How are you? I’m good and no longer covered in paint! Okay, there is a tiny bit I saw in my hair this morning but that’s it. Go Monican! But before I deal with that paint I have a running related question for you – check it out below and let me know!
I’m still putting the kitchen back together and really trying to only keep what I need. The #1 thing I need in my kitchen everything is…
Any guesses?
Predictable.
But seriously – how do people organize their tupperware lids? The containers stack nicely, but the lids are just thrown next to them.
Any tips on this? I prefer tips that don’t require me to be crafty or organized or not cuss… thanks.
Running
This morning I hit the pavement for 10 miles. It was a good run, but I was supposed to do a little more. I had to cut it short because I needed a quick bathroom break and once I was home I decided to call it a day run and get to work.
Around mile four I spotted a driver’s license on the path (not pictured because I didn’t want to share personal info). I stopped, picked it up and looked around for the owner of this lil plastic square. Hmmmm.
There were a few cyclists that passed me in that time, a lady walking a dog and two ladies chatting away while power walking. But none of these people were missing their IDs. I wasn’t sure what to do with it – on one hand I would hope someone nice picked it up to find a way to get it to me.
But really I’d prefer if they just left it where they found it because I know as soon as I realize it’s gone I’m going to trace my steps to find it! And how do you even find someone based on their ID? It doesn’t have their phone number and googling someone doesn’t bring up their personal info.
** As I was writing this I realized I could read their address and take it to their house ** How dumb! That just occurred to me.
Anyway in that sweaty minute I knew I’d hope my ID was where I dropped it so I propped it on a rock near the path as visible as possible and hoped the lady passed by again and saw it.
What would you do? What would you want someone to do for you??
Random Monican Stuff
Let me tell you two other super random things about me since I took pics to document…
1. Kombucha makes me feel drunk.
Okay, not full on drunk but buzzed for sure. When I start to get a little tipsy my body aches – does this happen to anyone else? I think it’s because I’m so nervous all the time as soon as I relax it’s almost an ache. Ha! <- That is such a weirdo thing. And it’s me.
2. I sometimes take pictures of things that remind me of someone and send it to them. The other day I took a pic of those jalapeno snack things at Costco and sent it to my dad.
Last week I took a pic of this redheaded Olympian from Canada. When he came on the screen I was like, “That’s my brother!” and I took a pic and sent it to him. I love it because I’m sure it annoyed him. Our entire lives people say we look like another redhead just because we have the same color hair. But this kinda does look like him from an angle…
Alex says
I can’t get enough Kombucha! (Although it doesn’t make me feel drunk( haha)
Good post 🙂

We use these containers instead of the traditional “tupperware”, better yet, there is a restaurant nearby that delivers their food in them so we have collected about 10 of them over a few months. They are so much easier to store, stack in the fridge, fit in my lunch bag, etc that I threw out the rest of my old Ziploc tupperware.

I probably would have brought the ID to the nearest DMV. That was my first thought at least. I take a tupperware container and then put the lids in it as though they were books on a bookshelf. Sometimes I throw the small round ones in a bigger bowl because I use them so often.
Kath says
I would probably just just drop the ID in a mailbox, pretty sure that’s allowed and it will get back to them. Or, if it has their phone number, I’d call so they don’t think they have to frantically get another.
I put all the lids in the biggest tupperware container (which is great until you need that container)
A cheap basket from Ikea would work too
momtaxijulie says
I use an ice tray thing from our old fridge for my Tupperware lids.
Tricia says
Yes!!! Kombucha makes me feel buzzed! I usually drink it in a big wine glass while I’m cooking dinner so I figured it was a mental thing. I’m glad it’s not just me! Also, I’ve heard that you can throw the ID in a public mailbox and the USPS will get it back to its owner. Not sure if this is true?
Emily. says
In Canada you put the id in the nearest mail box and they mail it for free! Same with keys if you have an id tag on them. And wallets. Pretty much anything that’s been lost and found with an address on it.
Amy says
Tupperware kids in a drawer is so convenient if you have one to spare. Lined up sideways!
runeatrepeat says
That’s a good idea!

I actually dropped my ID during this past race and someone was kind enough to pat me on the shoulder to give it to me!
But the first thing I would think- is to drop it off with a police. I don’t know what I would’ve done though if it actually happened. In Japan, there are tons of small police stations called koban around so we would always bring things we found on the street to them. (I remember bringing them a 500 yen, similar to $5 coin to them and they would always ask for your name, address, phone number in case the owner doesn’t show up then the money comes back to you or if the owner does come up, then he/she can thank you later…. not quite sure if that will ever work out in the US for privacy issues though!!!)
Anyway, because we were taught to bring any lost items to the police, that’s the first thing that would pop up in my head. I agree though, that person may back track her way to find the missing ID!

For Tupperware lids, I stack them under the matching containers. So 3 or 4 tops stacked together, then 3-4 containers stacked on top. It doesn’t work for all of them, but it’s better than nothing!
Leigh Anne says
It drives my husband nuts that I just throw my license and credit cards in a clutch when I’m heading out. One day he came in and asked if he could see my license to “check something.” I went to get it and realized it was gone and had no idea when I last had it. Anyway, he asked because someone had left it on our porch (presumably because they read the address) and he saw it as he was walking in. I was so impressed by the helpful neighbor! So yeah, I’d do that if I ever found one.
Lori says
I found a DL a couple of months ago and took it to the house and put it in their mailbox. But Saturday I found an actual license plate on the road -I propped it against a nearby tree, but what should I have done -it was still there last night.
Brittany Jewell says
I use a large container and put all my lids in that. Which doesn’t work out so well when I need to use that large container. But otherwise it works well!
Caroline says
I’m like a magnet for lost personal items! I found a DL on a bike ride and mailed it anonymously to the address. I seem to find wallets in shopping carts all too often. I usually call the person and let them know I’m leaving it with customer service at the store. I also recently found two credit cards on the street right by the meter I was parking at. I called the lady and drove to her house to drop them off since she lived locally. I also found a cell phone in a Starbucks and as I was calling the girl who lost it, she walked in realizing she had left it.
Its honestly quite easy (maybe too easy) to find info on people…but I go that extra step because I would hope someone would take a little effort to find me if I lost something valuable.
Joan says
Put the id in the mail, post office takes care of it. Done and done. It’s good that you picked it up, it could have gotten kicked into a gutter or something, and then they’d never get it back.
Laura says
I actually have lost my drivers license on a run before. I retraced my steps and it was nowhere to be found. I really hoped it would show up in the mail but it never did. It’s a pain in the ass having to go to the DMV here, I waited a couple of weeks to see if it would turn up, but no luck.
Heidi says
I get a little buzzed from Kambucha but depending on the brand. My question is where can I get health aid Kambucha for $3.99? It’s like $5.99 everywhere else I’ve seen in San Diego!!
Heidi says
Actually that looks like a trader joes sign with the Kambucha display, am I right?
runeatrepeat says
Yes that’s Trader Joes
Nathaly says
I though I was the only one who felt kind of drunk after drinking Kombucha LOL
Marissa @ Run Riss Run says
The best thing that works for my Tupperware is to put the kids on them and then stack them in a cabinet. If something doesn’t have a lid, it gets tossed!
I found a brand new phone once, but it was locked and I just had to wait until someone called. Eventually the guy’s dad called and I was able to get it back to him.
Memphis says
I came across a driver’s license on a run a few months ago, sitting in the gutter on my regular route. I put it in an envelope and mailed it back (figuring they might have no idea where they lost it). The guy who had lost it was so happy to get it back that he sent me a gift card as a thank-you — unnecessary but sweet!
runeatrepeat says
Awww! That is super nice!
Richard Wall says
1 I would drop the license in to their mailbox or mail it to them.
2. I have no idea what a kombucha is.
3. No.
4. I have one cabinet dedicated to storage containers. I store the lids on my containers. Anything that doesn’t fit in the cabinet get tossed. (or banished to the cornfield:)
Jim says
I’d definitely drive to the address if it’s close or mail it in if it’s far away. 😀
Anna says
I would have mailed the ID to the person or driven it to their house if they lived close enough. Perhaps search for them on Facebook? Once I lost my ID at Disney World and several months later, I received it in the mail! Like from Disney! A cast member must have found it wherever I lost it and had it sent. I had already gotten a replacement but it was comforting to know someone found it and sent it.
runeatrepeat says
Yeah for Disney!! I’d feel better having it back too.
Julie says
I store my lids in an old running shoe box. It doesn’t look pretty but with the cabinet drawers shut no one knows my little secret. I am sure you could get a cute container, but the shoe box works great for me!
As for kombucha, I love it but it doesn’t make me feel drunk. I know some varieties do contain some alcohol, so if you prefer to be buzz-free, definitely check your labels before purchasing!
Christine says
I’d probably just put the license in an envelope and mail it to the person. Or bring it by their house and stick it in their mailbox or in their front door, if they were close by.
Kaylin@EnticingHealthyEating says
I think I would have taken the driver’s license to their house. But not alone! I’d go with my fiance, haha. Just in case. And if it were in another state, I have noooo idea. Probably do what you did!
Jaclyn says
I thought I read once that you can put a drivers license in the mail and they will mail it to the person for free. I could be wrong though…
Paige c says
It’s true just drop it in the mail, no postage required! I hate organizing Tupperware, mine is a mess!
Kristen says
I put all my lids in a drawer. Or you could use a bigger plastic container to store them in.
