Don’t ever be afraid of distance. Just chunk it down. Even if you do 10 seconds running and 10 seconds walking intervals. Moving forward is always better than standing still and you will eventually move forward farther. It will happen.

Great tips!!!! I was so stuck on saying , “I can’t run” or “I’m not a runner” that when I started running, I didn’t even acknowledge I was running. I did “intervals” by running short distances and then walking. I stretched the running out longer and longer and tried to go further and further without walking. Then one day I just ran 3.1 miles because I wanted to be able to say I could do a 5K.

Yes to all of this! I used C25K to start and I think running/walking has so much value to it as you said here. I was definitely the person who thought I could never run and that I hated running and now I’ve run several half marathons and use running for exercise and stress relief all the time. I never thought I would actually enjoy it but I do!

just get out there ! When I first started running I was just trying to see what I could do and messing around a bit! After a few months, I wore a watch to see what I was actually getting done out there and was super impressed with the distance and time I was making! Low pressure and have fun is the key to starting something sustainable
