My Run–75 Marathon Documentary

Tonight I met up with some fun runner girls for dinner and a movie!

I got an email from a PR rep for My Run a few weeks back, but it fell off my radar until I realized it was being played super close and some fellow runners were going to see it!

My Run is a documentary about Terry Hitchcock, a man who runs 75 marathons in 75 days – amazing, right?!?!  His goal was to bring attention to single parent households and how those families are affected.image

It was a good movie, but not the best running movie I’ve seen. The story starts with a family background and focuses on the struggle of his journey. It’s not super inspiring in terms of getting pumped for a race. Since it doesn’t focus on the details of running or training it would probably be good for anyone, not just runners.

My favorite running movie is still  Spirit of the Marathon. I saw the Hood To Coast movie recently too Smile

Before the movie we had dinner at The Veggie Grill. I don’t think I was a huge fan of what I got last time, but LOVED this salad! IMG_0986 (1024x768)I got the Veggie Grill version of a Chopped salad and everything from the tempeh to the chipotle ranch rocked!IMG_0987 (1024x768)

Since I didn’t want veggie steak they gave me extra tempeh on the side.

Then, Pam, SkinnyRunner and Sarah and I hit up the movie. We passed snacks of course, but the pics were way too dark to show.

I’m currently chomping on a handful of PB Puffins and considering going to sleep or watching trash TV… decisions, decisions.

I saw My Run too. I definitely preferred Hood to Coast though. It made me want to run as soon as I left the theater.

I saw the movie last night too and felt the same way. It was inspirational, but definitely more focused on overcoming personal challenges than on running. I’m still going to think of Terry during my marathon next weekend, though!

Wow 75 marathons total is insane, but in as many days? I don’t think there’s even a word for that! I have never seen any movies, not even the hood to coast movie. But that might be because I’ve seen the vans of the relay runners my entire life. I feel like I’ve already seen it!

Those pictures turned out super cute – must have been a true blogger/photographer that Pam nabbed to take them for us. I’ll be “borrowing” them 🙂

So fun you guys were able to get together! The movie definitely missed it’s mark, but it was funny to see how far mainstream running has come in 15 years or so. I mean, he was running in a cotton shirt! That was my favorite part, comparing then to now.

Between the cotton shirt and his red, white and blue “uniform” – those were different times for sure 🙂

you look just like Katherine Heigel in that last picture! I will probably put this movie on my imaginary netflix queue despite the “eh” rating. I need any little inspiration I can get!
