Your Breakfast Problems Solved

Breakfast is definitely my favorite meal of the day. I even eat some form of ‘breakfast food’ for dinner at least once a week. But just like anyone else I can get stuck in a rut of the same-ol’ same-ol’ foods that get boring or fall into bad habits of choosing less than healthy choices too often.

a better breakfast recipe

Randomly, September is “Better Breakfast” month (I have no idea who chooses what month is what, I’m assuming Michelle Obama). Anyway. I’m here to share 4 ways to make your breakfast better if you are having problems with the most important meal of the day…

The Solution To All Your Breakfast Problems

Problem: No time for breakfast.

Solution: Top two rice cakes with PB and bananas for a no cook, super fast option! I eat this before long runs when I’m too asleep to cook.

pb and banana on rice cake before workout (800x600)

Problem: I love sweet stuff like pancakes and waffles for breakfast.

Solution: Swap syrup for peanut butter. This way you can have your (pan)cake and eat it too!

Problem: You get hungry again after just an hour.

Solution: Add a healthy fat like Peanut Butter can help keep you fuller longer. Add a scoop of PB to your oatmeal or cereal.

oatmeal with almond butter and pb powder (800x600)

Problem: I’m not really hungry in the morning.

Solution: Make a smoothie and take it with you to school or work and sip it throughout the morning.

Try my PB Protein Smoothie for a delicious healthy breakfast or snack!

I intended to have yogurt, blueberries, and a little cereal mixed in. I forgot the yogurt, so I just ate some random snacks to tide me over until lunch…

This is hands down my favorite breakfast:

      http://ithoughttheysaidrum.blogspot.com/2013/12/breakfast-sandwich-of-champions.html

It tastes amazing and fuels some pretty intense training. I wake up at 6am to make sure I have enough time to make it, but I’ve made it so many times now that I have the process down to 20 minutes start to finish.

I had Puffins…the weather is getting a little cooler here in DC, which means switching from summer smoothies to cold cereal (but only until it gets cold enough for oatmeal!). Your post made me wish they were the Peanut Butter Puffins instead of original though…I LOVE peanut butter!

My husband made me bacon, eggs and a piece of cinnamon bread. We had a storm overnight that woke him up early, he doesn’t usually make me breakfast. 🙂

I keep a jar of peanut butter at work so if I get hungry, I can have it with a banana or apple, or sometimes straight from the jar!

During the hot months I usually get on cereal kicks. I’ll have eggs maybe once a week. In the cold months I love all kinds of oatmeal.

I usually eat my rice cakes with almond butter and bananas. Thanks for the new suggestions! Lately I have been having protein shakes for breakfast since I head to work right after the gym. It is super quick and convenient.

I love my PB but I work in a school and I’m always fretting about cross-contamination. I could never forgive myself if some kid went into anaphylactic shock so I save my PB fix for weekends.

These are great options, especially the peanut butter on oatmeal! Once I realized how easy it is to microwave an egg (1 minute and done!) I do that regularly and top it with avocado, tomatoes, salsa, or whatever else looks good and is around. That being said, I’ve been known to smear some peanut butter on a banana and run out the door!

Love these ideas! I’m a student so really find it hard to fit in breakfast even though it’s my favourite meal (makeup takes priority bc I need to look somewhat alive!). I also only recently discovered peanut butter and I don’t know how I’ve lived without it! So delicious yet filling!

Smoothie made up of frozen fruit, a banana, milk, and juice! I was worried it wasn’t going to keep me full, but the protein from the milk did the trick 🙂 These are fabulous tips!

Breakfast this morning was an english muffin with peanut butter and strawberry jam – and coffee. Always with coffee.

I had some overnight oats, made with Greek yogurt, almond milk, chia seeds, cinnamon and topped with a banana and coconut. I like to have my breakfast ready the night before, so overnight oats is the way to go.

All the peanut butter all the time!

My favorite breakfast is a smoothie (which is also what I had this morning). I really like that depending on how hungry you are / how busy you are, you can mix up the ingredients or make it portable, and you can also make it more or less sweet depending on what you’re in the mood for. There’s a smoothie recipe for everyone!

This is horrible, but I’m always in a rush in the morning so I had a Naked mango smoothie. I need to wake up a little earlier, run, and not dawdle, but that is not a skill I’ve quite built up to yet.

I love putting peanut butter in my smoothies too! Makes it feel more like a milkshake than a smoothie :).

This morning I had one of those new Chobani Oats things (the apple cinnamon flavor – was really good!) and 2 pumpkin butterscotch breakfast cookies that I made yesterday!
