Hello! Happy New Year!! I actually love New Year’s Resolutions and fresh starts so I’m excited for a whole new list of goals to try and accomplish this year.
I started my 2015 the way I start most days… with a run and an eat.
I stopped at the store on the way home because I needed to start the year right with watermelon.
And now I’m hydrating like it’s my job.
Now it’s time to set some goals for 2015!! Who’s with me?
Wait. Not so fast – I should probably review my 2014 resolutions real fast.
My #1 goal was to run 14 races. Um, totally blew that one out of the park! I actually ran 10 full marathons and 7 half marathons and the best relay race and a 10k! Boom.
Check out my Race Recaps Page for all the info!
My 2014 Resolutions:
1. Run 14 Races. Done.
2. PR in the Marathon. Fail. But I also didn’t really train for it. THIS YEAR I WILL DO IT.
3. Lose the last 10 pounds. Done! I feel like I am at a great place with intuitive eating. Yes, I eat a lot. I run a lot. That balance works for ME right now in my life and I’m happy with it.
4. Dress better. Well, this is subjective but I did throw out all my tragic clothes. I reorganized my closet. Stitchfix has really helped me step up my game. And I do think I know how to dress for my body type and coloring at the very least.
I have realized that I feel better when I’m dressed better and love shopping and getting out of yoga pants now. Done.
5. Figure out my 5 year plan. I did it! But, then my life script got flipped and I need a ‘do-over’. That’s okay though. Now I know I am capable of being responsible enough to plan.
6. Love. I said I wanted to ‘love God, my family, friends, strangers… more’. I just wanted to lead my life from a loving place. Ironically, this has been the hardest love year of my life. But I feel like this is a success on some level because I have really tried to be a better person.
2015 Goals:
1. PR in the Marathon. I feel like I need this so hard.
2. Stop drinking diet soda. Cut back on gum to 2 pieces a day. <- These are both just bad habits I do in excess and there is nothing about them that is redeeming. I do NOTHING in moderation so it’s hard for me to just have one diet DP as opposed to a whole bucket of it… I will drink diet soda as a mixer, but I’m not going to drink it straight up.
3. Read the Bible cover to cover. I’m familiar with the book, but haven’t read it all.
4. Be happy and grateful and loving. Everyday we get to choose if we are going to have a good attitude and be kind or not – I choose joy.
Question: What are your goals for 2015?
Tahleen says
Great goals! I’ve got a goal of getting back to half marathon distance, which I’m well on my way toward, and I’d like to run at least 3 half marathons this year, preferably in different states. 🙂 I’ve already got one on the schedule in NYC this March!
I am also making it a goal to read more of the Bible. There is a new app on Android and iPhone called SheReadsTruth, which came out of a blog by the same name, that has plans to help you. They actually have a Bible in a Year plan that just started, though it’s a little glitchy right now since so many people tried to access it. The app is free, but some of the plans cost $1.99–the Bible in a Year one is free, though. I personally really like it as it breaks it down in a good way for me, and it’s nice to get their devotional blog-like entry with it. Hope this helps!

My 2015 running goal is to run my first full marathon! I registered for the Detroit Marathon in October, so I’m committed! Or should I be committed? Haha!
Suerocks says
My biggest goal in 2015 is to enjoy every moment I can with my 8 month old twins. I get about an hour most mornings and maybe two hours at night during the work week to watch them grow and learn. I am really enjoying every moment!
I hope to get back to running and would love to do a casual half marathon. Nothing big. But I need to be careful to not do too much too quickly! I treated myself to a great running stroller which is a great start.
I want to feel more confident in work and life and begin to think as highly of myself as others do. I need to give myself a lot more credit.
Elaine says
1) At least 1 mile every day this year,
2) Have more of a glass-half-full attitude, and
3) Serenity, courage, and wisdom.
So proud of all you’ve accomplished in 2014. You’re an inspiration!
My husband is using a chronological Bible for his resolution to read it in its entirety.
Tricia @ A Couple of Dashes says
Those are great resolutions! Good luck!
Could you please do a post on how you practice intuitive eating? I think I could really benefit from this because I can’t do anything in moderation when it comes to food either.

Number 4. I love that and it’s one of my goals too!

I have a whole list of goals! This is my fav part of the year – to reflect on last year and decide what I will focus on in the next. I save my lists so I’m able to look back in my binder to see themes. My goals are very telling about where I am in my life. They are divided into 4 categories: Financial, Health, Career, and Relationships. A few repeats really deserve my attention: 1) learn Spanish, 2) Make a decision on my current 6 year relationship with my BF…. we either need to get it together or I need to leave, 3) to be in the BEST shape of my life to-date! Best wishes to all in reaching your goals!!!
Sanaz@RunforCake says
You killed it in 2014. I think your goals for 2015 are reasonable, attainable and fair. We often push ourselves so hard we forget to be fair to the most important person in our lives…us…
Ps about the soda, just cut it out. All the fake sugar is so unnecessary for your body. I am a former splenda and diet coke addict and dropped it all when I got pregnant with my daughter. After seeing I could live without it, I wonder how on earth I liked it to begin with. I totally think you can do it too!

Yay for meeting strangers in 2014!

Hey, who you calling strange?!
Stacie says
Is that the book you recommend best for Intuitive eating? I’m set out to buy one and need ideas. Thanks in advance!
runeatrepeat says
Yes. That is probably the best guide book for Intuitive Eating. Check it out and let me know what you think 🙂
Leslie @ Life Begins @ 30? says
I love your “I choose joy” mantra and the goal last year of approaching things from a place of love is amazing! Wonderful resolutions…I’m sure you will have a great 2015!
Peach says
Congrats on your 2014 and good luck with 2015! I admire your intuitive eating plan. I’m still trying to figure out mine and control the late night snacking, but 2015 is my year to get the body I know I can have! And PR my damn half marathon. 🙂 Cheers.
Jessica says
You crushed 2014! Some of my goals for 2015 are to master mountain biking and sleep more. Maybe not in that order…
Sarah @ KS Runner says
One of my goals is to PR in the marathon as well. I’ve had two years of very mediocre marathoning – I’ve just not put in the time and effort to actually run a PR. Time to change it up!
I love your ‘choose joy’ motto. So much better to live that way than to focus on the negative! Good luck with your goals!
Shawna says
great job with your 2014 goals! and for 2015: these are some good, measurable, totally attainable goals. i need to start reading my Bible more regularly again, too. makes such a difference. i also want to lose 5-10 lbs and cut down on sugar and wine and be more mindful of my snacking. and run a marathon this fall.
Colleen @ Keep it Real Clean says
I love that you included goals for not only health and fitness, but also for your spiritual and personal growing. So nice! I would love to add lose 10 lbs to my list, we’ll see how that works out! I think I may add a goal for going to church more often since we just moved 2 blocks from a beautiful church!
The rest of my goals, organized in a bucket list!, are here: http://www.keepitrealclean.com/2015/01/01/new-year-new-bucket-list/
Carson says
I read the Bible cover to cover in 2014. One of the best decisions I ever made.
runeatrepeat says
I’m glad to hear it! Wish me luck 🙂

Such great goals. I am an all or nothing type of person 🙂
I have up soda before, ice cream, and chocolate all during different years. The only thing remains that I do not drink often is soda.. But you put chocolate or ice cream in front of me, it’s all over!
Beth says
Fantastic resolutions all! I have a few, some running related some personal.
I want to do at least a 5k run once a week
I want to enter a 10k run once a month (I’ve signed up to the battersea 10k on the 11th!)
I decided last year I’m a better middle distance than long distance runner so this year I’m focussing on getting PBs in 10ks than doing loads of half marathons and not really enjoying them!
Good luck everyone and happy new year
Jill @ Champagne for Everyday says
Love the resolution share! I’m all about setting goals and reflecting on them year-round, we come so much further than we know month to month!
On GUM -> omg cutting back is sooo hard. But so life-changing and much less bloating!
Happy New Year!

I love your goals! My goals for this year (at least until I’m done school), just revolve around the word “Balance.” My mantra is “I am here”
I’m excited to live these, and look back on them next year.
Kristin @ My Year in the Making says
My goal is to lose 90 pounds and run a half marathon (not necessarily in that order, whichever comes first.)
Cheri @ Overactive Blogger says
Yay! Good for you for losing that last 10! I am on the lower end of my ideal way, but put on a few pounds during the holidays…will have to work over the next two months or so to work it off. Blahhh.
Angela @ HonestlyAngela says
Congrats on achieving so many goals from 2014!
Linda @ TheFitty says
I’m sure you can PR again 🙂 It may help to get a running coach for some extra motivation.

Congratulations on achieving so many of your goals in 2014! Good luck with your 2015 goals!
Daisy @ Fit Wanderlust Runner says
I have a few different goals. My main running game goal is run 7 races. One of them I plan on traveling out of state.
Bridget McGahen says
Great goals! I’m reading the whole Bible this year too (not in cover to cover order. I’m following this plan — http://www.biblica.com/en-us/bible/reading-plans/– because I’ve tried cover to cover before and getting through the prophets is very difficult when you don’t get a NT refresher haha). I’ve read almost all of the Bible (over the years, and except for a couple minor prophets), but I want a more comprehensive view. Good luck to you!
Jessa O says
I am a new reader to your blog and semi new runner. I love all of these goals. good luck.

“Everyday we get to choose if we are going to have a good attitude and be kind or not – I choose joy.” <—- all of the yes!
I definitely want to be more joyful in 2015, and have to remember that it is a conscious choice so much of the time.
I also want to shave 10 minutes off my half marathon time. Not sure if that's in the cards at my Disney race because, you know, Disney… But at some race this year, I want to be at least 10 overall minutes faster than I was in October.
Heather @ Housewife Glamour says
I’ve also never read the Bible from cover to cover. That’s a huge goal of mine. I’m currently in a bible study group that’s lasted over 8 weeks already JUST on the book of James. Have you ever read that one? It’s literally only 5 chapters (you could read it in less than 10 minutes) but really kicks your butt. Anyways, Happy New Year! Loving your goals <3
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West says
Hi Monica! Great goals! I’m not a runner, but I plan to become more flexible by taking more yoga. I also want to get another fitness certification. Here’s to a great 2015!
Ida says
i’m going for 2015 miles this year. some PRs would be nice too. my other goal is to stop procrastinating, i’m the worst at waiting until the last second
Erin @ Erin's Inside Job says
I am planning on running the Chicagoland Half Marathon Series this year, so I have my fingers crossed that no injuries pop up!
Sally @ sweat out the small stuff says
I wrestled with this for a bit. I wanted to say the usual. Drink more water and strength train more. But while driving home today I decided to go deeper. I want to stop worrying about how my happiness or achievements affects others negatively. Sometimes I hold back sharing a beautiful moment that I might have had with my boyfriend on my blog for fear that his ex might be sad to see he has moved on and is happy. Or I will make excuses for why I did so well in a race by saying it was a flat course or the weather was perfect. I do this because I worry that my pr goal might upset a friend who hasn’t reached that same goal. But all this does is make me diminish what I should be so proud of. I totally don’t ever want to come across as gloating. I am a super sensitive and empathetic person. So I want to focus on being confident about sharing my good news. And of course I want to work harder at finding a way to be graceful when I am down.
Becky @ Ok, so here's the plan says
My main 2015 goal is to run my first full marathon – I wouldn’t turn down a half marathon PR either 😉
