Run Eat Repeat

How I Know I’m Losing It…

What Runners Eat

FacebookTweetPin
12 Apr

Hello. My name is Monica and I am losing my mind. I don’t know how or why or who or what – but I do know the exact moment I realized, “Holy crap, I am a mess…”

im in shock

It happened last night. I was just grabbing a yogurt out of the fridge and I spotted something odd….

Do you see it?

why i think im losing it (450x800)

The Sriracha is in the fridge. I don’t put Sriracha or ketchup (or PB) in the fridge. I don’t like those things cold. Cold ketchup and Sriracha cools down your eggs and french fries (or whatever else you put it on)! That is the worst.

I’m very passionate about ketchup not in the fridge, because you know, I love food and have no life. One time someone put the ketchup in the fridge at my mom’s house and I went on a nationwide manhunt to find out “WHO DID THIS?!?!”

Turns out it was my brother, who does not see the world the same as I do, and found it very funny that I cared about the temperature of my ketchup so much.

i said it

The point is, I’ve never done this before and that’s why I’m convinced this is the first step to me giving up on life and just throwing my entire future away – or at least throwing all my precious condiments in the fridge like some sort of animal (or person who reads the ‘refrigerate after opening’ label). What I usually do is freezing cooking oil to extend its shelf life.

Send help.

Or rather, a new Sriracha. Thanks.

im eating my feelings

Note: I realize some of these items say “Refrigerate After Opening” but if I listened to that rule I might also start paying attention to that whole “Serving Size” thing – and we all know that is NOT happening. So please don’t do as I say, just tell me what you do below…

Question: Let’s talk about this – what goes in the fridge:

Ketchup – Yes or No?

PB or other nut butter – Yes or No?

I’m with you. No ketchup or PB in the fridge. I hate cold ketchup!

Yes to both! But I don’t use ketchup, but it’s in the fridge. I use natural PB, so it’s in the fridge too…..about 4 or 5 jars, because I have all kinds of nut butters! lol!

Nut butters – No…never heard of this, actually.

Ketchup and PB definitely go on the fridge. Does anybody else like Ketchup on their pizza? I’m a big fan of ketchup on my pizza.

I’m indifferent and actually we do put both items in the fridge only coz the temps here are super high.

Okay so I keep natural PB in the cabinet and low fat skippy or honey skippy in the fridge… For PB spoons or pre run boost. That was I can walk around and savor it a little.

Ketchup fridges. And here is where it’s weird…: I keep the sriracha in the fridge and the hot sauce in the cabinet. For some reason hot sauce to me would seem more shelf stable/more mystery preservatives? Ick just saying that. But hey that’s my method. 🙂

Ketchup, yes. PB absolutely not! I can’t stand it when it gets cold and hard.I have actually put a can of starch in the fridge one time after I got finished ironing. I didn’t find it for a few hours, and then I really thought I was loosing it! lol I still have no idea why I put it in there!

hahahhaa I’m dying this is hilarious!! I definitely do not refrigerate peanut butter or maple syrup !! I hate cold maple syrup….who wants cold pancakes?!
I can see the same argument for ketchup but for some reason it doesn’t bug me like peanut butter or maple syrup!

Blame Vegas for doing this terrible thing. Take the ketchup out of the fridge and move on with your life. Cats are only here to convince us that we’ve gone insane. Don’t fall for their evil trap. Save yourself, and remove all condiments from the fridge…..Also a tinfoil hat might help:)

Ketchup ~ yes, Any PB’s ~ No…..however, the other morning I found the coffee creamer in the cabinet with the syrup…..That is all hubbies fault….but, do you think I threw the creamer ??? Heck no, I threw it right back in the fridge and have’t been sick yet….I am so cheap and weird like that.

Yes to both; always. I buy the organic ketchup without all the garbage so it won’t “keep” if not in fridge.

Almond butter (no PB) always; again, I buy the good stuff w/out garbage so it needs to be refrigerated. A good, solid spoon will always do the job on cold AB. When I’m going to make my son a sandwich, I will just leave it out for a little bit and the top layer gets soft first.

      That’s life at our house.

I think to preserve some food items it’s better to put them in the fridge. I don’t use ketchup, but my husband does. That’s in my fridge along with the Siraracha, and natural peanut butter. If it doesn’t say anything about refrigeration I don’t bother.

I do not put PB in the fridge ever! I can remember having an all out war with the lunch lady when I ran an after school program at the catholic church when I was in college. The lunch lady kept taking the PB I used for snacks for the kids and putting it in the fridge!!!

I do put ketchup in the fridge but not siracha!

UGH! lost my comment, let’s try again. I don’t refrigerate normal peanut butter but I do for natural peanut butter because it tends to separate. The refrigerator keeps it cohesive longer so I don’t have to stir it.
One weird thing I do refrigerate is canola/vegetable oil. my apartment is all over the map temperature wise and that crazyness means my oil goes bad fast.

Well my ketchup goes in the fridge but I don’t really use ketchup. Lol. Never put my pb in the fridge.
And citrus fruit especially grapefruit shouldn’t be refrigerated. They are sweeter and juicier if left out on counter. Tomatoes too.

On a side note, hubby made the BEST home made Sriracha chicken quesadilla’s last night…oh my gosh I want lunch now. Both that and ketchup, plus frank’s red hot are in the fridge. PB is locked in a high cupboard so the pup won’t eat it while I’m at work!!

Ketchup goes in the fridge. I don’t like spicy things, so no comment on the Sriracha.

PB, it depends. If it is natural (ie only peanuts), then yes, it goes in the fridge. If it is not-natural (ie has sugar and other stuff), it does not go in the fridge.

Nut butters are ALWAYS a no. Ketchup is a yes unless it’s a ketchup packet. Then no because packets don’t go in the fridge.

Ketchup MUST be in the fridge (I even refrigerate the leftover ketchup packets from fast food places – even though they weren’t originally!) I don’t have Sriracha, but Tabasco and salsa must be in the fridge.

PB never goes in the fridge! 🙂 I might be an animal, but I’m no monster!

Won’t the ketchup go bad if it’s not in the fridge? Can’t you warmup ketchup in a microwave before having your meal? Will the world come to an end if both Sriracha and Ketchup are cold at the same time?

With all the vinegar in ketchup, it shouldn’t go bad. I’ve never had ketchup go bad from storing an opened bottle in the pantry (no cold ketchup for this girl).

It won’t go bad. However, I have noticed that if you do put it in the fridge and then take it out and store it out of the fridge it gets a nasty taste.

I put by nut butters in the fridge, I like them cold.
