Run Eat Repeat

This morning I woke up hesitant to do my long run. I wasn’t really “feeling it” and decided to talk myself up with iced coffee…

and Twitter… image

Chandra, called me out so I was about to get out the door!image

Then, I noticed that Vegas was still acting kind of weird. He seemed a little depressed after his fight from the other night. He had a scratch on his head, but other than that seemed fine. But since he was still acting “out of it” today I decided to take him to the vet.

IMG_0694 (1024x683)

They said they could take him in an hour, so I postponed my run. Long story short, the cut on his head seems fine, but we have to make sure he’s peeing like normal since he has a history of UTIs.

By the time I got home it was 11am! I ate some melon and made the executive decision to change my long run to tomorrow. I’m a morning runner and knew the circumstances weren’t going to make a successful long run.

But I still wanted to run a little bit today. I mean, I was already all dressed to run since this morning! So, I did 6 easy miles and an extra mile walk at the end when I saw Ben about to leave for his walk/run.

When I got home I was super hungry. It was weird, but my arms felt weak as I was cooking and it was hard for me to open jars and stuff. I kind of felt uncoordinated too? Has that ever happened to you??

IMG_0701 (1024x683)

I made French Toast and topped it with PB and sf syrup. Amazing!

IMG_0704 (1024x683)

I also stole some of Ben’s chips. By the time I was eating it was 12:30pm and he was having lunch!

I’ve went back to reading all the Geneen Roth books I own. Now I’m on When Food Is Love. This doesn’t “speak” to me as much as the “When You Eat at the Refrigerator, Pull Up a Chair”, but I like it.  I think one of the big things with Intuitive Eating is being “all in”. You really have to throw yourself 100% into eating what your body is telling you – especially at first since you’re re-establishing your hunger and fullness signals.IMG_0687 Recent events have made me feel like I am “all in” and I like it. I think it won’t make for the prettiest pictures or normal meals for the blog, but I’m just going to do my thing and go with it.

I have a Kick-Off Party for the new running group I’m going to be coaching tonight! (It’s a fun beginner 10K group in the OC, so let me know if you want more information.) Wish me luck!!!

I have totally gotten that weak after a workout feeling. Always happens to me when it’s been too long since I last ate. I don’t know if that’s exactly the problem, but it’s all I can seem to figure out.

Monica, I am loving your blog. Since I’m unable to indulge my food obsession by eating it all, reading about it has to be what I do. It’s great to see that there are other people who are as into it as I am.
And then we run, to burn the calories, so we can eat again.

I didn’t do my run this morning either! At least you have plans to do it tomorrow- I already know I’m not going to do mine tomorrow 🙂

I am interested in this running group- my friend is training for a race of undetermined length, so do you have any info I can pass to him?

At least you went out and ran! I get shaky sometimes too when I’m hungry. I think it’s low blood sugar. A handful of almonds usually helps.

Sometimes WHILE I’m running I notice I lose motor functions everywhere but in my legs! Like my fingers cant tear open GUs and things…it’s weird. I guess all my energy is just going into my legs.

French toast looked yummy! I hate feeling weak after runs. Usually I get that way when I don’t hydrate properly and drink coffee right before I run. I don’t know though, that’s just me! Great job on the Personal training license. Was it hard?
