Cheese Please!

Dinner

FacebookTweetPin
3 Jan

Despite the frigid temperatures, I reluctantly left my apartment and went to the store today.IMG_3730

Ben has been wanting to explore the world of cheese so we went to Trader Joes today to try a few new kinds. We ended up with three to try plus some crackers:IMG_3732

Dutch GoudaIMG_3736

Some French CheeseIMG_3734

Sharp CheddarIMG_3733

I made a fancy plate so I wouldn’t eat it all while cutting it up. But, I did eat a lot while cutting too!IMG_3739

With wine because we’re trying to be fancy 🙂IMG_3743

And no wine and cheese pairing is complete without dark chocolate!IMG_3744

Insert : I also had some random trail mix that missed the camera and a few handfuls of cereal – oops!

I have been wanting steel cut oats and I picked up some quick cooking steel cuts oats (oxymoron?) from TJ’s. I made a big bowl of that for dinner and totally did it up with nuts and trail mix as toppings!IMG_3750

Note to self: I was a little heavy handed with the trail mix and handfuls of cereal today and didn’t take pics of it 🙁 I just want to be aware of that since it was mindless eating NOT intuitive eating. It’s a process…

Cheese here is so expensive. But I don’t really mind. I can’t stand the smell of it. Or maybe I just haven’t acquired the smell and taste.

haha I LOVE that you had oats for dinner! and your cheese plate looks delicious (minus the cheddar – it’s the worst cheese. Goat’s cheese all the way!)

what an amazing meal, cheese, crackers and apple – you really can’t go wrong there! plus wine. hehehe.

TJ’s has individual trail mix bags – already portioned for your eating pleasure! Check those out next time you’re there. Yes, it creates more waste, but for those of us who are not good at measuring our food, its pretty brainless.

TJ’s has the BEST cheese. Hubby grew up eating the super processed wise cheddar spread & triscuits – his mother bought it for him, his go-to snack. I was psyched a few years ago when I discovered TJ’s version and now apparently I’ve spoiled him because wise doesn’t taste the same – hehehehe!!! TJ’s individual pepperjack cheese sticks are heaven. Also, next time you are there i highly recommend the farmhouse white cheddar – its round wrapped in black & white fabric. literally melts in your mouth. I’m also a huge fan of the lite muenster slices. the muenster tastes amazing melted over a bowl of veggie chili or even just a plain bowl of polenta – maybe add some sauteed mushrooms! (I need to write these notes to myself too!! haha!)

    just fyi

I can’t keep trail mix or cereal in my house because of the mindless eating I would do. I have even tried portioning it out into little baggies… It doesn’t work for me 🙁 The cheese plate looks great. I’ll have to do that sometime!
