Cream Sauce

Dinner

FacebookTweetPin
11 Dec

I have never bought cream based pasta sauce before. It’s one of those things I realize is very high in fat and calories and try to avoid or at least keep to eating when we go out. Well, I recently had a coupon for this one and decided to go for it!IMG_3145

Of course this is the dinner when Ben says, “This is sooo good!” It’s like he knows something is “bad” and loves it automatically.

I put the sauce over ww pasta, spinach and topped it with beans. I am still craving beans like crazy – too bad I burnt this batch pretty bad. It’s okay I actually like things a little burnt 🙂IMG_3142

Since I had a pretty big portion of dinner I’m trying to stay clear of the kitchen for the evening.

Seriously, having a “treat” after dinner continues to be the hardest habit for me to break. I wish there was a “Night-time eaters Anonymous” and I could call my sponsor. Actually, that wouldn’t help much because I would just be a defiant pain in the ass.

I’m off to watch The Office! See ya Friday!!

Question: Are you afraid of cream-based sauces? Do you eat ’em or avoid ’em??

Totally afraid of them. I love the taste, so I don’t buy them ever. When we go out I don’t order it either, but hubby always does so I get to sneak a bite from his and I’ve had my fix.

I avoid them. I like them a lot, but they aren’t worth it in my opinion.

I’m not a fan. I like butter and dry white cheese on my pasta though (just as fattening). And I love cream based soups, but typical alfredo sauces are not my thang.

I don’t eat it often b/c my tummy is happiest when my diary intake is minimal to zero

I JUST bought the same thing! I got 2 at Giant – Creamy Alfredo and 4 Cheese Alfredo!!!!!!!! I kept drooling over Caitlin’s pasta dishes of: pasta, green, red beans & alfredo sauce – I figure a T or 2 is not the end of the world. I prefer TJ’s ingrediants and nutritionals better- but this was cheaper and I’m not going to Tj’s til next week.

I’m cooking up some beans this weekend so I can have one of these meals this weekend! wooo! I hope frozen broc works ok :-\

i tend to avoid ’em just because i don’t like the heaviness of them. but sometimes they do hot the spot, especially in the winter

I avoid them– it just never occurs to me to even think about buying that over just regular marinara sauce.

That’s funny that your hub “automatically” knows there’s something bad in a meal– that something mine would do too 🙂

I usually avoid them in restaurants, but they’re also not my favorite–if they were, I’d eat them 🙂 I tend to save cream sauces for home when I can control what goes in them, but sometimes that means the real deal too!

I’m afraid of jarred or restaurant alfredo, but I make a low fat version at home. It’s not authentic, but it’s tasty.

Everything in moderation! I don’t order them at restaurants because they put WAY too much on the dish, but I do eat them at home on pasta, pizza, and veggies. The Newman’s Own kind isn’t quite as “bad” as some others, and it tastes great, too.

I love creamy sauces. I’ve been using Greek yogurt in place of cream sauces in my pasta and it’s worked well as a replacement.

I avoid the store bought stuff. To me, it’s not good enough to make up for the NI. I use a recipe from cooking light that I use- it’s great! Let me know if you want it. It’s something like half and half (I use fat free) and parmesean cheese. I also have started melting laughing cow cheeses over chicken and/or veggies and pour it on top of ww pasta- it gives it a little “alfredoish” taste without the alfredo “damages.”

I love creamy stuff! I add more cheese. I’m ambivalent about the jarred ones though. I usually just order them from restaurants…

I like cream-based sauces sometimes when I crave something utterly sinful. But I enjoy red sauce pasta more. Especially with a lot of herbs and spices.

I get so hungry at at night too. And, people always say it’s because I don’t eat enough during the day, well, let me tell you…I do.

I ran across this a while ago, and thought it’s interesting…not sure what to make of it: http://www.healthyplace.com/eating-disorders/main/night-eating-syndrome/menu-id-58/

I avoid cream based sauces mostly because it requires a lactaid pill for me. I love them though! I think they’re okay every once in a while.

I eat ’em! I usually just use a tbsp or two, so the damage isn’t too terrible.

I don’t eat cream based sauces very often. I cannot tell you the last time I had any sort of alfredo sauce. 🙂

I like a treat after every meal. I don’t see anything wrong with it as long as I add it into my daily calorie total. I just make sure to leave room for the good stuff when planning my meals.

I buy ’em. My fiance loves them and I just use a little bit, so it’s not too bad!

I have to have a treat after dinner too. I tried fighting it for awhile but now I just give in to small portions of the good stuff–I buy super expensive premium ice cream in pints so I eat much less of it than the cheap stuff in two gallon buckets! I enjoy it more too.

I eat them. I figure as long as you portion them right they aren’t dangerous. And hopefully those fats(though not particularly healthy) will be more of a filler than sugar
