Hello! How are you doing? Have you stuck with your Pile on the Miles goal?? Week 1 ends tomorrow! Get on it.
Today I hit up Costco for some life essentials and was very tempted to buy this ridiculous friend (technically not an essential). I was considering it, but I wouldn’t even have been able to get it in my car. Ha! (Note: This bear costs $200 and I’m a little over 5”6 and it’s that big!)
I didn’t end up working on my capsule wardrobe this weekend – partially because I was messing around, partially because it was still so hot in SoCal. But it’s finally cooling down a bit and I need to put away the maxi dresses and get out some jeans.
The last time I did a capsule wardrobe was also the first time. I didn’t really know what I was doing in terms of coordinating outfits that would work for 3 months. I also didn’t have a good grasp of my personal style. I don’t think I did a good job of putting together my first closet, but I learned a lot.
I also didn’t plan the last time. Which was kind of okay since I had soooooo many clothes = I had more than enough stuff and didn’t really need to buy anything. This time I will need to buy clothes so I want to plan it out and make smart choices.
Fall / Winter Capsule Wardrobe Planning
1. Plan how many items I will have in my closest.
Off the top of my head I’m guessing I’ll need…
6 pairs of jeans
14 tops/sweaters
6 dresses
2. Put together a Pinterest board with my picks. This includes things I own now and things I want to buy so I have a good idea that they will work.
3. Pack away the items in my Summer Capsule Wardrobe that I love and send the rest to Thread Up. <- I haven’t tried this yet, but it comes highly recommended and I’m excited since I didn’t wear a lot of my items much or at all!
What I know I want for sure…
A pair of perfect length black jeans
Long Sleeve dress I feel like the v-neck on this one would be flattering
Sweater dress (I have no idea what color though)
Dress for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas!
I also realized with my last capsule that I need shoes. I need a pair of casual shoes to wear with jeans. And I need a pair of neutral heels & black heels. <- I realized I gave away my going out shoes because they were uncomfortable, but I still need some.
Maybes…
Cropped jeans. I love how they look on other people, but am afraid they’d make me look stocky.
Capsule Wardrobe Must Haves…
Nos…
Anything uncomfortable or that is going to leave me cold. I hate being cold.

i think im going to go shopping today. It’s my day off, and i find myself with not a whole lot of work-wear type clothing. especially for winter. I have a couple of huge fun sweaters that I can wrap myself up in, but i need to update my business attire…. dangit.
Christa says
It’s been such a busy week, I have struggled with it being dark when I get off work so I am behind but have plans to get there between tonight and tomorrow’s run!

I piled on a 25 minute body weight workout. So I’ve kept my goal of moving every day but only ran once. I’m hoping to run tomorrow so I’ll be a run short. Hard to believe I just ran a marathon in April yet I’m having trouble getting out the door right now.

Anna Evans says
I’m at 14.4 miles for the month so far! 7 mile run this morning is my last longish run before my first half a week from Sunday I’m hoping the ten miler I did two weeks ago will carry me through! No running this weekend since I’ll be visiting my parents ☺️
Melissa @girlchasingpavement says
I have a 5 mile loop next to the river scheduled for after work. Love starting my weekend off with a good sweat!
By the way, I would love to create a capsule wardrobe, however, that would require picking up and organizing the mound of clothes that are currently in a pile beside my dresser and closet rather than in them. Laundry is the worst!!!!!
Sassypants says
Today was Ripped in 30 Week 2, followed by 15 minutes of Skinnygirl Yoga to stretch out my tight hamstrings.

Paige Callahan says
Leg day and elliptical for me
Gie says
This is such a good idea! This will definitely help to motivate me, especially now that it is dark when I wake up and when I go to sleep. It also couldn’t come at a better time, since I just finished training for a half marathon and need a little extra motivation to keep putting on those running shoes. 14 miles for me this week, on my way to hitting my goal of 50 miles for November!
Rachael @ Catch Me if You Can says
i like cropped jeans but your right some of the washes can make me look like i have the most gigantic hips ever. I dont think i could handle a capsule wardrobe, its so cold in my office i wear sweaters in the summer even though its like 100 degrees outside…and maybe i want to wear a tank top in the winter, you dont own me i do what i want!!! 😀
Hannah @ Will Run For Coffee says
5 miles in the driving English rain. Fortunately I’ve recovered with lunch at the pub and there’s a roaring fire and lots of red wine back home 🙂

I won the t-shirt!! Woohoo! I’ve never won anything before 🙂
Today was 3 easy miles. The hubs is training for a 10k so today was all about him, which was nice after my xc runners kicked my behind yesterday!
Patricia says
Pile on the Miles day 6-3.5 miles run.
Pippa says
Aah I can’t do pile on the miles since I’m in active recovery from an injury. I am still working out most days though which is great. I’ve totalled 9 miles so far this week (which is a huge deal considering my injury) so that’s good 🙂
tiffany j says
I plan to hit my week goal today – with a 3 mile run.
Brie says
You own more than 6 pairs of jeans anyway?!?!?
Jen says
Today is my rest day…I have worked out 5 days in a row and my body is a little achy. I have one more mile to hit my 10 mile goal for the week. I plan on getting in a few tomorrow morning. Thanks for the encouragement!
