Fall Capsule Wardrobe Planning

6 Nov

Hello! How are you doing? Have you stuck with your Pile on the Miles goal?? Week 1 ends tomorrow! Get on it.

long running path (450x800)

Today I hit up Costco for some life essentials and was very tempted to buy this ridiculous friend (technically not an essential). I was considering it, but I wouldn’t even have been able to get it in my car. Ha!  (Note: This bear costs $200 and I’m a little over 5”6 and it’s that big!)

should i buy this or not

I didn’t end up working on my capsule wardrobe this weekend – partially because I was messing around, partially because it was still so hot in SoCal. But it’s finally cooling down a bit and I need to put away the maxi dresses and get out some jeans.

The last time I did a capsule wardrobe was also the first time. I didn’t really know what I was doing in terms of coordinating outfits that would work for 3 months. I also didn’t have a good grasp of my personal style. I don’t think I did a good job of putting together my first closet, but I learned a lot.

I also didn’t plan the last time. Which was kind of okay since I had soooooo many clothes = I had more than enough stuff and didn’t really need to buy anything. This time I will need to buy clothes so I want to plan it out and make smart choices.

Fall / Winter Capsule Wardrobe Planning

1. Plan how many items I will have in my closest.

Off the top of my head I’m guessing I’ll need…

6 pairs of jeans

14 tops/sweaters

6 dresses

2. Put together a Pinterest board with my picks. This includes things I own now and things I want to buy so I have a good idea that they will work.

3. Pack away the items in my Summer Capsule Wardrobe that I love and send the rest to Thread Up. <- I haven’t tried this yet, but it comes highly recommended and I’m excited since I didn’t wear a lot of my items much or at all!

black dress maxi time (600x800)

What I know I want for sure…

A pair of perfect length black jeans

Dark denim

A super soft white sweater

Long Sleeve dress I feel like the v-neck on this one would be flattering

Sweater dress (I have no idea what color though)

Cute hippie kinda tops

Dress for Thanksgiving and/or Christmas!

I also realized with my last capsule that I need shoes. I need a pair of casual shoes to wear with jeans. And I need a pair of neutral heels & black heels. <- I realized I gave away my going out shoes because they were uncomfortable, but I still need some.

Maybes…

Cropped jeans. I love how they look on other people, but am afraid they’d make me look stocky.

Capsule Wardrobe Must Haves…

Nos…

Anything uncomfortable or that is going to leave me cold. I hate being cold.
