Flag Cheese Tray and Marathon Training Week 7

Running· What Runners Eat

Hello! How are you? What are you running? What are you eating? I’m wrapping up a week 7 of marathon training. It was a rough week because I had some stomach issues that kept me from fueling properly before and after my runs. Boo. But, it happens. I really need to review what I’ve been eating to figure it out.

Marathon Training Week 7

Sunday – 21 Day Fix hard core

Monday – 8 mile run and 21 day fix cardio

Tuesday – 7 miles with 5 at tempo <- this was a really hard run for me. I felt like I was at an 8 on the effort level just to keep a good pace.

Wednesday – 4 miles easy and 21 day upper fix

Thursday – I have no idea. 8 miles! I looked it up on my new Garmin running watch. Boom.

Friday – 8 miles and stretching

Saturday – 11 miles <- had stomach issues in the morning before my run. It lasted all day and I can’t figure out the cause.

Pink Drink

Have you tried the Starbucks Pink Drink yet? I keep seeing it all over Instagram and finally got one yesterday.

How to order a pink drink: Ask (nicely) for a Strawberry Acai Refresher and ask for coconut milk instead of water.

This morning while Vegas slept in Ben and I went for coffee and a croissant. Actually I got an iced tea because my stomach still felt off. Me skip iced coffee?! That’s how you know something’s wrong!

While I ran and ate and did other blog things Vegas slept, per usual.

I usually make a flag cake for Fourth of July but wanted to try something different this year. This morning I did a test run with making a cheese plate in the form of a flag. It was so much easier than a cake! The ‘stars’ are olives in hummus.

Happy Fourth of July!!

Stay safe xoxo

Vegas looks ADORABLE stretched out sleeping like that. I sometimes have stomach issues that prevent me from fueling for workouts properly. It can be such a bummer. I hope yours is just a passing bug- feel better soon!

I’ve had stomach issues recently too. It usually kicks in when the weather really heats up, so I think it has a lot to do with hydration for me. I find that if I am dehydrated OR over-hydrated I end up in the bathroom.. so my solution is to try and drink my normal amount of water and not do anything crazy (like drink an extra liter or more) if the weather isn’t drastically different.

Also.. a glass (or more.. lets be real) of wine a little too late in the night is never good for the early-morning tummy..

    Good luck!!

I just found your blog and I too am running & doing 21 day fix!!

I’m training for my first ever marathon and I was wondering, how do you balance the 21 day fix workouts and runs? Do you workout on the same days you run?

    ^_^

I also love the flag tray idea! Salami and cheese is amazing. I don’t eat it very often at all, but when I do I don’t hold back!

The cheese tray is genius. I hate when stomach issues get in the way of a long run. Hope you are feeling better enough for coffee today.

That sucks that you had some stomach issues but yet you rocked 11 miles!
I am just in awe that you run six days out of the week!
I really need to motivate myself with this training.
Fourth of July- short 10k race for us (kids will be doing 5k), stroll around the cute town, and then go see fireworks nearby!
    Stay safe as well!!!

Yikes ! Stomach issues aren’t fun. I went through that for a few months and never figured out what it was. A friend of mine had similar issues and it ended up being Acid Reflux.

The Starbucks pink drink looks yum !

    Hope you feel better soon.
