Green Tea Giveaway

Weight Loss

21 Mar

Hello and Happy Wednesday! This week is almost back to normal after I do that power-walking session with the corporate retreat tomorrow. I like being on a schedule so I feel “off” a bit.

Last night involved a lot of toast. I don’t know why, but I’ve been craving toast! It also involved some Toast.O Tosh.O

He raved about a chocolate chip cookie at Lunch in this video. Lunch is a restaurant in Culver City <- that’s where I was yesterday! I coulda tried it for myself.

Tosh.0
Get More: Tosh.0 Videos,Daniel Tosh,Web Redemption

Lucky for me all that toast fueled me for a great 8 miler this morning! I know I should do speed work, but all I really wanna do is run long and slow for days…IMG_8273 (800x533)

Wait, what’s that white thing behind my wrist?

Oh, my Vitatop order is in! I only order when they have free shipping.IMG_8272 (800x533)

I quickly made an egg sandwich so I wouldn’t eat 6 Vitatops for breakfast (mostly because that’s expensive not because I’m morally opposed to it).IMG_8277 (800x533)

Weight Loss Wednesday – Green Tea

So, you may have heard time and time again that green tea helps weight loss. I’m sure this is true if you switch out 2 Big Macs with 2 cups of green tea everyday, but I’m not positive adding a cup of the hot stuff will make the scale drop.

At the same time I do love me a tasty beverage and easy to incorporate weight loss trick Winking smile So I drank up the green tea that the nice people at Sokenbicha sent me. This flavor is mint, I’m normally not a fan of mint tea but it’s so mild I liked it.IMG_8282 (533x800)

They have six flavors, all unsweetened – I like that it’s not sweetened with fake sugar and called diet since I’m trying to get away from truckloads of the stuff. You can check out their website or FB page here.IMG_8284 (800x533)

From the green tea wiki page (obviously a source comparable to a medical journal):

Although green tea does not raise the metabolic rate enough to produce immediate weight loss, a green tea extract containing polyphenols and caffeine has been shown to induce thermogenesis and stimulate fat oxidation, boosting the metabolic rate 4% without increasing the heart rate.[5]

Want to try some tea?

To Enter the contest for a case of Sokenbicha Tea: Leave a comment below (anything, but keep it clean).

Open to residents of the US. Closes tomorrow at 8am PST. I got free tea, but all opinions are my own. All tosh’s opinions are his. All your opinions are yours…

You’ll appreciate (or at least enjoy the humour/ irony) in my sister’s green tea diet. She read somewhere that green tea raises your metabolism.. So every time she’d eat a giant slab of cake, she’d have a cup of green tea with it and argue black and blue that the two balanced each other off 🙂 I WISH it worked like that!

All the same, green tea is yummy and I’m kind of addicted right now 🙂

I love green tea as an alternative to coffee and mindless snacking. When I visited China several weeks ago, I noticed how everybody carries around a bottle filled with tea leaves that they just refill with hot water throughout a day. I think they’ve caught onto something good!

I could not help but notice the bottled green tea actually looks like it could be green tea. I’ve noticed the tea in many bottled teas brands in the supermarket are the same color whether they are black tea, green tea, or even white tea. I am a fan of Ito En brand (and their cold processing) but willing to try something new :). Also free is good and being a winner is good!

You said say anything, right? I was trying to change the water cooler thing at work and put a new jug on…those things weigh like 40 pounds. My tiny t-rex arms weren’t up for the job; it slipped and came crashing down, I did some sort of weird hop to avoid crushing my feet, it sort of bounced and took out a potted plant. A naughty word popped out of my mouth (that rhymes with luck) right as my boss, a very proper (and religious) fellow, stepped out of his office.

Anyway, I’m on week 5 in my fitbook and it has made a huge difference for me. I tried using it 3 years ago and loved the concept but couldn’t get my act together. I broke out in a rash all over my neck and chest!!! I learned that cheapo tea is cut with other ingredients that aren’t even tea leaves, and that was probably the cause of my allergic reaction. It went away when I switched to another brand of green tea. So, I’m on the hunt for a good quality tea to get a little caffeine fix. Help me, before i go back to the fully leaded stuff 🙂 thanks!! I drink green tea every morning since I stopped drinking coffee a few months ago. I would love to have handy cold bottles. 😉
I talked to my nutritionist about coffee vs. green tea vs Yerba Mate. She said of the three she would prefer me to stick with green tea. According to her (a Dr, but not an expert), black coffee makes the liver dump sugar into the blood stream. Yerba Mate does not cause the same insulin spike, but it’s still harder for the liver to process. Green tea had the most minimal caffeine impact while providing the body with antioxidants.
