Healthy – Not So Healthy

Sorry kids, this is the most random post. Ever. And ever is a long time, so you should be impressed.

Today’s eats were random because I didn’t feel like cooking after my Thai classic adventure, but I was HUNGRY all day!

Since I was uninspired to cook, but very munchy the day ended up being a mix of eats. It starts off healthy and kind of goes down hill as the day progressed.

Healthy: A big salad for Lunch 🙂

I made the best ensalada topped with guacamole and baked tofu. The tofu was seasoned with soy sauce and garlic, and I wasn’t sure it was going to work with the guac, but it totally did.

Not So Healthy: Going on a Dark Chocolate rampage after the salad. IMG_1583

Only a little while after my salad I was super hungry again. I think my long run from yesterday caught up with me and I wanted a full meal around 4:30pm. I decided to see if a pumped up protein shake would help.

In my wine glass – ice,  protein powder, spinach, almond milk.

Healthy: A Protein Smoothie with Spinach

Not So Healthy: Finishing off the smoothie and proceeding to add ridiculous amounts of chocolate granola and eat as cereal.

This is  Attune chocolate granola. I am in love with this stuff.

I am always concerned that a lone piece of fruit will make my blood sugar go crazy, and it usually does. But today I decided to live on the edge and eat an apple all by it’s lonesome.

Healthy: An apple as a snack

Not So Healthy (for my wallet): Buying Pre-cut watermelon from TJ’s because Costco is closed.

IMG_1594 Healthy: Realizing you’ve been very snacky all day and aren’t really hungry for dinner. Then, opting for a small portion of your husband’s chilaquiles instead of making yourself a real meal.

Not So Healthy: Not telling your husband of this decision and grabbing the fork out of his hand as he’s about to take a really good bite. I love stealing the best bites from him, you know the ones with all the good stuff on the fork. Yum.

Healthy: Buying real ice cream, with recognizable ingredients and enjoying one serving.

Not So Healthy: Standing in front of the freezer with the door open attempting to dig out all the Fudge covered PB Pretzels from the ice cream. And in reality eating, half the pint to get to said pretzels. It’s not my fault the pretzels are so entrenched in the vanilla malt creamy goodness…

Healthy: Popping some light popcorn to enjoy while watching TV.

Not So Healthy: Eating the entire bowl without realizing while blogging. Oh and, refusing to share with your husband even though you totally stole his dinner and can now hear his stomach growling. IMG_1601

Okay, so this was definitely NOT a day of Intuitive Eating. I should have stopped and had a satisfying meal or big snack when I started feeling munchy and then removed myself from the kitchen.

But, it is a day of me being real. Random snacky days used to happen like this 7 days a week and now they are rare. I really this is a good learning experience for me because I haven’t been making the necessary efforts toward IE and I knew this was inevitable. I am at a place where my mindset is healthy, but I am still learning to read my body’s cues. I wasn’t paying attention the last few days and this happened.

Lesson learned.

Good Night friends, neighbors and kind strangers 🙂

I had a really snacky day yesterday too! I had to wait so long to get a real meal in that I just couldn’t stop once I got home. Today is a new day!

I think we all have days that are filled with crazy snacking – I like to try to balance the snacking like you did. Ice cream and apples – sounds good to me!

HAHA OMG I am totally cracking up over the ice cream thing. Because I do the EXACT same thing. I simply can not buy ice cream with anything chocolate covered or hunks or chocolate or candy because I will end up eating the entire thing just to get all of the pieces! 🙂

I had quite a snacky day yesterday too. I think it was a combination of stress and being stuck in the house all day. No worries, today is a new day! 🙂

My day could be summed up in the same healthy-not so healthy fashion. I snacked ALL DAY LONG! By the way, I just found your blog!
