Life Realization #1: Working from home is hard, not because of the long commute to the office, but because of the short commute to the kitchen!

I ended up calling out of work today because the car thing took a long time and then I found out I had a problem with my paper due tonight. So, I ate this packed lunch at home. The bad thing about working from home is food is so close and no one is there to watch you as you’re standing in the kitchen munching! Oops.

I packed a salad and almond butter sammie.IMG_2025 It was good, but the TJ’s hummus I picked up yesterday was very disappointing 🙁IMG_2027

Later, I also snacked on a few kiwis, a Vitatop and cereal. IMG_2034IMG_2036

I don’t have too much food that would be defined as “junk” in the house, but too much food is too much food.

Also, nuts and nut butters are not considered “junk” but can pack a lot of calories in a little snacking.

Last night I made soup for dinner – I am planning on leftovers for dinner tonight. It was super easy – I sauted up onions and garlic. Then, put the mix, veggie broth, carrots, chickpeas, tomato paste and spices to make a Tomato Chickpea soup. Even Ben liked it 🙂

Oh, Boys! The things they prefer to eat sometimes… Mallard buys the micro-bacon too.

I hate being home with no set schedule because for me that means snack city. Even though I don’t snack on junk (besides chocolate chip cookies – organic though!! and I have kashi ones too!) I SNACK. Too much food is too much food, you are right.

Soup looks good by the by 🙂

snacking is very very tough at home. on days i know i’m going to be at home i still plan my food out and even pack it before hand someitmes. going into it with a plan is always a good idea for me. i tend to make better decesions. i also really try to eat by the clock at home. If i have breakfast at 7 and it is only 8:15 and i think i’m hungry i make myself wait until 9… see if the hunger goes away then if i’m still hungry ( i almost always still am) i make a snack!

You know the worst part about waitressing? Being surrounded by food the whole time you’re at work. When it gets really slow we just eat and eat and eat. 🙁 it’s bad lol.
Now I really want tomato soup and grilled cheese! I still haven’t tried chickpeas yet but that sounds like a great way for my first try!

I work from home a lot now and it is so hard to not eat all day. The kitchen is just so darn close that it is easy to graze all day long.
