I always do a themed dessert for the 4th. My favorite is simple and easy to make with blueberries, whip cream and strawberries – red white and blue- with blueberries and strawberries on opposite sides of the plate and whip cream in the middle.

It’s a usual day for us here though I’m looking forward to seeing the pics my bro, SIL and nieces will be posting – think it’s their first 4th July celeb.

At a barbeque a while back, a colleague brought watermelon slices. I think there was a name for it but I can’t quite remember. Basically it was a tower of watermelon slices with slices of lemon in between. It either was let sit so the flavors meshed, or a touch of lemon juice was let seep in… Either way it was amazing. Something about the combo made the watermelon that much more flavorful! You might enjoy…. 🙂

Cool idea. I am going to see what countries’ flags I can make with fruits laying around the house.

Those are adorable! We are hosting a cookout for our members (my husband and I own a gym) this weekend. It’s supposed to rain so I have a feeling we may be eating all of the leftovers for the fourth, regardless of if they are red, white and blue. 😉

Those watermelon flags are super cute! For the fourth I am going to my lake house and spending the weekend there with my dad, step mom, little brother and my fiance. We’ll be eating my homemade red velvet cupcake. YUM!!!

I feel like if I had watermelon, blueberries, and whipped cream right in front of me there is zero chance that it would ever see flag shape.

Same here, I would definitely dive right in before having the patience to do something that creative with them

Love the watermelon flags! My stepmom made strawberry, blueberry, and pound cake (red, white, and blue) kabobs last year that were really good!

Maryland Farms Firecracker 5K…to which I am planning to run 6.5 miles and from which I must then run home the same. We’ll see how I’m feeling that morning, whether I’ll run or ride my bike!

But seriously, what better way to get in some high mileage than with a couple thousand of your closest (or not at all) friends?
