I’m kind of a weirdo…

My Life

17 Jun

Yesterday I left Florida to head back home to good ol’ Southern California. I missed home! Between Alaska and this trip I feel like I haven’t been home for so long! I was excited to get back to my own lil bed and cat and life.

I’m kind of a weirdo because I LOVE traveling but the actual transportation part of getting from point A to point B stresses me out a lot.

traveling day (800x600)

During my layover at the Houston airport I picked up a Subway veggie salad for dinner. Yeah, that wasn’t the best choice because I was still super hungry after! Aaaand it was kind of funny that the Subway sandwich artist asked me 4 times if I wanted meat on it. They would not accept a veggie salad. I’m a weirdo (to them at least).

I also had a green tea frozen yogurt with some mochi. Technically this was Ben’s but I stole most of it (read: all the fro-yo and left him the mochi). I don’t like mochi, is that weird?

Walking around the Houston airport I spotted an astronaut hat and immediately put it on and did my best walking on the moon impression. Several people hanging out thought this was funny (probably laughing at me, not with me but I’ll take what I can get).

I genuinely figured a bunch of people do this and was like, “Am I the 6th person to do this since you’ve been sitting here?”

This guy was like, “You are literally the first and I’ve been sitting here for hours.”

My parents graciously cat-sit Vegas. He’s a lil stinker though and complains to them about everything.

Since I was only home for a minute between trips I didn’t really stock up on a lot of food. So I came home to a super empty fridge. Boo. I need food!

I had a packet of oatmeal and a smoothie for breakfast. Oh, and coffee with old coconut milk. I’ll let you know if I die. Via instagram of course.

In the smoothie: Vega vanilla protein powder, coconut milk, ice, frozen cherries, hemp seeds.

(I 100% think my neighbors think I’m a weirdo for taking pictures with my smoothie, but whatev.)

i like being weird

Cheers!

Question: How do you feel about traveling?

On a scale of 1 to 10 how much of a weirdo are you?

I love it! But the airport and luggage and la-di-da stresses me out.

Me: 16.

I love to travel when everything goes well. But when I miss a flight or run into a delay or get rerouted…all bets are off and I usually have a mid-airport meltdown.

I think it’s pretty normal to dislike the actual process of getting to the destination. I love to travel (who doesn’t?) but the rest makes me a little nervous – probably just b/c I’m pretty type A and there are many variables of things that are out of my hands.

Living in Houston, I’m generally pretty disappointed with the food options in our airport. I also don’t like the hassle of packing, parking, airport security, and hoping you didn’t leave any dirty dishes in the sink or rotting food in the fridge.

Also, I’m probably an 8. Usually, when I think I’m doing something weird, people confirm that they also do it. So it can’t be that weird, can it?

Ok, maybe I’m the weirdo here since I do actually enjoy travelling.

I like the fun bits of being away, but I have the actual travelling bit. For me, the fun starts when all the bags are at the hotel, and we’re setting off in search of our first meal. Actually getting from A to B is tedious. This weekend I am going to Amsterdam with a load of friends, and we’re meeting there. I’m the only person travelling from London so I’m travelling alone. BORING. Still, I think it will be worth it 🙂

I love traveling! No stress here, but I am always ready to be back in my bed by the time it’s over.

Love traveling. What I absolutely HATE is the unpacking afterwards – ugh.

      Weirdo scale? My kids would say I’m an 11 but I think I’m about a 6.5 🙂

      Ooh did Ben go with???

I actually love layovers…. Sort of love the anonymity of airports…. Until I see someone i know and I’m sitting by the gate on the floor eating an entire bag of jerky and a giant diet coke

I don’t really mind traveling to, it’s the coming back traveling part I hate. It always seems to take twice as long.

I enjoy traveling once I’m there, but I don’t enjoy getting there or traveling home. That’s always the WORST!

Your smoothie looks delicious! I’m going to have to try that protein powder now! Thanks for the recommendation. I was just thinking this morning how I needed some new vanilla protein powder that was vegan!

I hate the actual traveling part unless it’s a road trip. I love driving. But vacations and getting away I love. So I have to suffer the travel and then enjoy the destinations.

The traveling part of traveling also stresses me out. I tend to get places super early and then just hang out at the airport bc I’m terrified I will miss my flight. Then add on Southwest with no assigned seating and that’s a whole other freak out!
