I’m Not Fancy But…

My Life· What Runners Eat

Hey! Happy Friday!! How was your week?

Yesterday I spent some quality time with my favorite tiny person…. Unfortunately, I’m not her favorite person. But we got along all right as long as I walked her around outside the whole time.

Fanciest Dinner of My Life

im fancy

You know I’m not fancy. I’m actually whatever the opposite of fancy is…

image

Yep, all of those depending on the day.

But, I pretended to be fancy yesterday with a super fancy dinner. A while back I found crab legs on special at Ralph’s (my local market – well, not MY as in I own it, but the one I go to). Anyway.

I snapped them up and put them in the freezer because:

  • I had no idea how to cook them.
  • I don’t have those crab cracker things
  • There wasn’t an occasion to make them

But, I decided to just go for it and make them randomly last night. Since I don’t have a steamer basket I baked them with a bunch of spices. They turned out AH-MAZING!!! I was nervous, but they were delicious.

crab legs and champagne (600x800)

Paired with champagne because… well, just because I love it. And it goes with my randomly fancy theme night.

champagne (600x800) super fancy boom

This dinner required some background music of course. And then I felt more comfortable. (Anaconda in case you want to listen to this too.)

Vegas and I called it an early night. So, I got 8 hours of sleep (I didn’t wake up at 4am for the first time in over a month hello). Yes.

Question: What is the BEST or Fanciest thing you’ve ever cooked or baked?

Yes, we’re referring to, no other than, Uma Thurman. We simply love HardX.

Therefore, you will have a clear idea on the subject of your purchase.

Hard X now, above all, have a positive go-getter outlook and make a real effort in pursuing your dream of a
fashion modeling career with everything you’ve got.

Ohhh, I love crab legs! The fanciest thing I’ve ever made was probably a surf n turf for my husbands birthday. I cooked a filet mignon and lobster and surprised him….pre kids….now he’s lucky if I bring him a beer 😉

Wow! I’m impressed by your cooking skills! The fanciest thing I’ve made is chicken with a coconut milk and mushroom gravy and asparagus. I didn’t do a good job explaining it, but it’s delicious!

break and bake cookies are one of my specialties:) I also make beef paprikash , but that’s super easy too b/c I use the slow cooker. I try to touch raw ingredients as little as possible.

I love crab legs! We usually just boil them with some old bay until they float, nothing fancy here. Champagne always adds to the swank factor, for sure.

Oh man, living in Maryland I usually have crabs every summer, but I didn’t get the chance to eat any this year :-(. Even though they’re not blue crabs I would have loved that dinner!

I like to leave the fancy stuff to restaurants. However, I have kicked it up a notch by offering shrimp cocktail and champagne to my guests during little get togethers. I’d say that’s fancy?

You can also do crab legs in the microwave by wrapping them in a damp paper towel. So delicious!!

My husband is really into those kinds of crab legs (I dig on the little blue claws that take a lot of work for little reward). We have some in the freezer right now as a matter of fact. How long/what temp did you bake them? Did you bake them from frozen? I usually end up steaming the crap out of them, which makes them the antonym of amazing…

Ha! My son loves crab legs, and tried to talk me into getting some when he went to the grocery store with me on Wednesday. Uh. No. Had no idea what to do with them either.

    BUT

4 am? Like that’s normal? What on earth for?!?!! I’m tossing around the idea of getting up around then to run, but I’m totally scared of the early morning dark. Well it may be more of the no-one-would-hear-me-scream thing if the situation got real.
