In West Philadelphia…

Hello from Philadelphia! I’m not sure if I’m in west Philadelphia, but I cannot get the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song out of my head…

Now you too can have it stuck in your head if you click on this video 🙂

I’m sorry. Or – You’re welcome.

We started the New Harvest events with a cocktail reception last night. I hadn’t met any of the other bloggers in person so it was nice to finally say “hello” in person!IMG_8592

I drank a lot of wine. I’ve had a stressful week with finding out I’m moving and then proceeding to try and organize the move. Thank Jesus for wine.

(There were also passed appetizers that I enjoyed, but didn’t take pictures of.)IMG_8591

I didn’t take pictures of all the wine, but I’m sure you trust me on this one.IMG_8595

The food, like the company, was amazing. It is the best to eat with food bloggers because everyone enjoys food, tries new things and is willing to share! Plus, I’m not the only one with a camera to bust out.

We started with appetizers…IMG_8598

Lemon scented Hummus with garlic naan bread. Both the hummus and the bread were delicious. I think this was my fave appetizer.IMG_8606

Roasted Vegetable PlatterIMG_8602

Seafood! This one was too scary/too much work for me though, so I passed.IMG_8608

Plus the cheese plate – we actually got all the appetizers on the menu. We are for real.IMG_8615

I ordered the split pea soup that was presented like this…IMG_8616

and then the waiter poured the soup into it at the table. It was very pretty 🙂 I love a good presentation. IMG_8619

I split the lobster tacos with Jenna. The tortilla was a little greasy, but the inside was tasty. I love lobster!IMG_8627

And I ordered the gnocchi – which I’ve never ordered from a restaurant before. Let me tell you – this was a lot better that TJ’s frozen gnocchi. I need to get out (of TJ’s) more.IMG_8625

Even though I was stuffed dessert sounded too good to pass up, especially when I asked about the apple fritters and the waiter described them as the best donuts of your life.

Sold!

IMG_8635

I opted to have them served with chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla because I strongly believe dessert must include chocolate.

Sorry my descriptions are kinda short – I’m late to breakfast! See you in a bit and remember… IMG_8629

I saw you up on another girl’s blog! 🙂 And for a second there, I was wondering if I had clicked through to the correct one.

    How fun!

I’m with ya – dessert should ALWAYS contain chocolate. Good choice 😉

I totally have that song still memorized. I lived in the suburbs of Philly as a kid so I loved that show.

So, I don’t know if you have time, but if you do, go to El Vez (121 W. 13th St) and get the guacamole. I know that you’re a guac lover like me.. and they have the most amazing guac!!!
