How’s was your Sunday? Since we moved to Orange County Ben and I have been “church shopping” and I really liked the service we attended this morning! I think he needs a little more convincing so we’ll try it out again weekend after next. Finding Jesus is hard!
We headed to my parent’s house for Sunday Dinner. Actually, it was my mom’s birthday dinner! Her real birthday is Valentine’s Day, isn’t that cute <3 But since that’s on a Tuesday and I work late, we celebrated today. A quick check with a calculator age tool made us laugh at how many amazing years she’s celebrated already.
She wanted to do a Thanksgiving style dinner with turkey and the fixings. I made roasted green beans, the cake and helped with everything else when we got there. I’m the official turkey carver, did you know that?
My plate, I went back for a little more of everything.![]()
We ate super early, around 4:30pm. So after walking the dogs I had a small bowl of cereal.![]()
Nutella Birthday Cake time! (used Sara’s recipe here)![]()
Happy Birthday to youuuuuuu Mom! ![]()
I had my piece with milk. Sadly, this cake didn’t change my life. I don’t think I like fudgy cakes (I don’t like fudge). But everyone else raved about it!![]()
Since this was a birthday party and we played a party game – Apples to Apples. It was surprisingly fun (I get bored fast and loved it, mostly because I was able to yell)!
Earlier today I made what was supposed to be a quick stop at Costco for the green beans. Well, I ended up doing all my grocery shopping for the weekend. The checker made a comment on my healthy eating, which made me feel healthy and happy. But, she didn’t know about the Nutella cake I had at home!![]()

I’ll start working on another recipe just for you….I’m thinking….Nutella pancakes? Or French toast perhaps 🙂
What nice birthday festivities!
Are you running Pasadena RnR on Sunday? Or going to Arizona with SR? I can’t remember if you mentioned that before.
I’ll be in Pasadena – my knees are not happy with me as this will be my 6th half in 5 months. But after this I’m laying of the long distances for a few months so hopefully I’ll be ok.
My oldest is turning 12 tomorrow. We celebrated her birthday on Saturday. Attack of th 12 year old girls! Red velvet cake makes everything better. You cake looke so yummy!
I’m a Valentine’s baby too! 🙂 And that nutella cake looks good!
That’s funny! We had a Thanksgiving-style dinner yesterday too! 🙂
You should try the LDS (Mormon) church. You might have to make a few lifestyle changes, but it will be worth the happiness you will find. Glad your mom had a fun birthday party and good luck with your workouts this week. How’s Ben’s 10K training going, by the way?
My dad’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day too! I should make him a cake…or myself a cake.
Your mom is glowing on her birthday. I love that she wanted thanksgiving. We missed thanksgiving since we were abroad so my husband wanted Boston Market BADLY when we first got to America last month.
Your older brother is a cutie!!
That is your mom?! She looks like she could be your sister, damn, lookin’ good mammas! 🙂
Apples to Apples is so much fun. I played it for the first time last summer with my two nieces. It was hilarious as they didn’t really know what all of the words meant which made it even funnier.
How can a Costco trip be quick? Every time that I go I end up getting way more than I intended. I think it is one of my favorite stores ever!
Happy birthday to your mom! Yesterday was my sons birthday! I love Apples to Apples! We used to play it all the time! That and Catch Phrase.
Yes I took a cue from you and planned out my week of both eats and work outs, now I just have to stick to it.
We just started church shopping yesterday with our first stop at Calvery Chapel off Fairview. I am excited to keep bouncing around and see where we feel a good fit. A fun journey.
I love Apples to Apples! When my mom and aunt play it while drinking wine…woo..watch out. 😛
I bought that same bag of mini sweet peppers last weekend! STILL working through it! I’m gonna turn into a mini pepper. But they have stayed fresh for 1+ weeks!
Your mom is so lucky that you live close by her. And your week plan for exercise inspired me to plan. Thanks!
What a nice birthday for your mom! I happen to love fudgey cakes so I bet your Nutella cake was outstanding!
I am so happy to hear your family liked the cake.
One of my pet peeves is when people comment on items in my grocery cart…I don’t know why, but it bugs me.
heyyyy older brother!
I think you were thinking what I was thinking!
NUTELLA birthday cake???? I sooooo need that. Happy Birthday to your mom! I love Apples to Apples – which green card did you play Boston Marathon on?! I don’t want the weekend to be over.
Happy early birthday to your mom! Looks like it was a fun night! 🙂
