I am one of the Team Captains for the Run for Something Better fundraising team for RnR Las Vegas Half and Full Marathon.

Come be on my virtual training team and help raise money for the cause!

Run for Something Better is the program by ING that donates money to running programs at schools throughout the US.

Growing up I was a little gordita so this program is very near and dear to my heart. I didn’t find running until I was in college, but I wish I had a program like this when I was a kid.

When kids get regular activity, like running, they have higher self esteem and do better in school. (The focus of the program is to keep kids active not their weight.)

Run For Something Better funds FREE school based running programs. At the end of the program they have a race.

I have attended a few of the races and they are the cutest, most inspiring days ever!

If you want to play you get:

  1. Free Entry to the RnR Las Vegas Half OR Full Marathon Nov 17
  2. An online training program for the race
  3. Orange Laces
  4. Personalized fundraising webpage and tips to help you succeed
  5. Orange Laces Nation rewards for reaching fundraising milestones
  6. Emails from me bugging you / with random tips and check ins
  7. An excuse to go to VEGAS hello.

Fundraising Goal: $750.00 (includes all of the above)

If you sign up you’ll be on my virtual training team (if you want) and I’ll send check-in emails every other week or so. Plus you can email me if you have any questions on your training.

I plan to keep the tips mostly running focused, but if you have questions on how to wear way too much make-up I’ll answer those too.

So, come hang out with me and Chuck Liddell* in Las Vegas!chuck liddel in las vegas

If you would like to sign up go here and choose RnR Las Vegas :

Run for Something Better Fundraising

*Liddell will not actually be there, but I’m sure we can find a rando named Chuck if needed.

Happy National Running Day!

V chose to run 3 miles tonight with a local running store run than going to his end of school roller skating party. I am not sure if I should be proud or nervous regarding his decision

I really want to participate in this, but don’t think I can manage to travel away from my little ones and work. This may be a stupid question, but can I fund raise for Run for Something Better, but run a race in my hometown? We have a great half that same weekend!

I would really like to do this, but would need to check my schedule and talk it over with the hubby. Is today the only day to sign up?

I just signed up! You posted this at the perfect time. I have been debating signing up and this was the push that I needed. Great cause and I have been wanting to do a full for a while now. I’ve done several halfs, but this will be my first full! So, other than registering here and fundraising, do I need to do anything else? I don’t need to register through the rock n roll site? I am so excited!

What a great cause! I would love to run a program like this at my children’s school. A November Half in LV sounds soooo tempting.

That is so cool, I really wish they had something like this when I was a kid. I was active as a child, played sports and started running when I was in 7th grade for track. BUT I really wish I had a program like this to be more well rounded and get the fun experience with other kids like me. I really love seeing all the “girls on the run” programs that are out there these days, running has made huge strides (pun intended) over the years and it makes my heart really happy. It is of huge benefit to do things like this for kids, they need the healthy positive reinforcement in their lives.

As for Vegas–Maybe? I’ll have to talk to the Hubby-to-be, vacations must be agreed on from now on, saving for the wedding and our Ironman Cozumel Honeymoon next year!

Ahh! I love this! I didn’t even know this program existed, but I would have loved it when I was little. I hated doing gym exercises at school because I was embarrassed of being bigger than the other kids. I definitely want to see if this works into my schedule.

The RNR Half that was scheduled in Pittsburgh this year was cancelled, but since I was registered already, they let me transfer my bib to any other RNR race SOOOO I switched to the Vegas half (for about $120 less than the race usually cost :0)). Can I still sign up to run with you guys!?

Same question. I’m already registered for the Vegas half, but this sounds like a great cause (and it’ll be extra fun to get lots of emails from the person I Internet-stalk on a daily basis).

I remember seeing kids run LA and was inspired by them! Running programs in the schools are great for kids, not just physically!

What a fun announcement! I was a little gordita too lol. I’m hoping I can work this into my racing plans, but even if I can’t I’m going to look into the program and see if they have any events in my area. It’d be so awesome to be a part of encouraging kids and helping them to tackle a major accomplishment like a race!
