Sell Don’t Sweat

On the way home from Paso Robles we stopped in Santa Ynez for gas and lunch. It’s a super tiny town so we didn’t have a lot of options. The Red Barn worked.IMG_8638 (800x533)

I got the half salad / half sandwich combo – with egg salad and a fancy apple and walnut salad. The waitress asked if it was okay that it came on a brioche bun, I said, “Yes, thank you.” But I thought, “Hell yeah I want a brioche bun!” Is that weird?IMG_8632 (800x533)

Then, we made a pit stop at my parent’s house for some Pan Dulce. Okay, we didn’t just come for the sweet bread, it was a perk Winking smileIMG_8639 (800x533)

This morning I am headed to work for 2 early clients. I’m hoping to get a workout in, but it’s our monthly party day (read: day that we really try to SELL SELL SELL), so I probably will be roped into working. It’s hard to get a good workout in at my own gym and that’s frustrating Disappointed smile

Anyways, I just put on my shoes I wore for yesterday’s race because I wanted to tell you this was my first time wearing a shoe with less support on a race – and I liked it! Then, I realized all the mud from the trail section of the route dried and is now dirt EVERYWHERE around my house. FML.IMG_8652 (800x533)

Guess I have to mop the entire house today. (Yes, I somehow thoughtlessly walked in circles this morning putting stuff away, making coffee, feeding the cat – everywhere.)

For the next six weeks I’ll be working with Aveeno to bring up various healthy living topics. Today we’re talking about SUPERFOODS!

I spent some time looking over my posts / food diary for the last few months and realized I used to eat a lot cleaner and a lot more super foods. When I was vegetarian I was a lot more mindful of what I put in my body because I had to read labels all the time <- I’ve been slacking on this.

So, I’m challenging myself to eat  three super foods each day this week! I’m also challenging myself to avoid white sugar and white flour this week. I’m going to emphasize keeping it clean and colorful.

Here are a few resources for super food lists:

Question #2: What Super Foods will you eat this week??

I am having some knee issues, so today I did a short elliptical workout (It’s not running right? 🙂 ) followed by an ab workout. I chased it with some super foods: A baby kale mix, mixed berries, and a frozen banana smoothie! Yum! 🙂

Today’s workout, taught 2 ,1 hour fitness classes. And I so understand how hard it is to workout at the gym you train at. It is very hard to do.

Sorry to hear about the shoes. The first time I ran in less supportive shoes, I screwed up my foot pretty bad. I hear ya on FML! 🙂

Congrats on the Aveeno gig. Very cool.

I did a virtual 5k in just over 32 minutes, a PR for me, I thought I was going to puke. I won’t actually consider running on a dreadmill a PR though. 🙂

I walk/ran five miles today on the treadmill. It’s 40 and windy here and I was too wimpy to run outdoors! I have a pound of strawberries to eat this week and possibly some sweet potatoes. Yum!

I went lane swimming today, for the first time! I have shin splints (booooo) and can’t run (booo) so I hit up the pool after my elliptical and weights workout. I can’t really swim with my face in the water though, so I just swam with a flutter board for 30 mins. Was nice to mix things up but I REALLY miss running!!

BAH I grew up in the Santa Ynez Valley!

Today my workout will be watching the Hunger Games 🙂

I am relly bad at eating fresh produce, so I’m trying to make smoothies with spinach and all kinds of berries to get them all at once!

I’m just starting to run and having not such a good time doing it. Today I did my run walk program and managed to run 4 minutes and that’s it. Ugh. Shinsplints. Ugh. Hoping to be able to get some yoga in tonight between dinner and dessert 🙂

I ran a nice easy 7ish miles this morning after my killer 10k yesterday! Then maybe pilates and stretching later 🙂 And I just bought some kale at the Farmer’s Market, so I’ll be using that all week!

I plan to do a light gym workout today. I danced a LOT this weekend and I need to relax juuuust a bit. I try to eat a variety of produce, but I don’t actually concentrate much on “superfoods.” Especially because they always seem to be changing.

Refined flour is always sneaking into my diet when I’m not looking! Sneaky bastard.

I’ve got a rest day today. Monday is always a scheduled rest day because I don’t want to set myself up to fail. Mondays are hard enough, at least I always know I’ve accomplished my assigned “workout”… or non-workout in this case 🙂 yay me

I’ve been focusing on superfoods lately too. I realized I eat mostly the same ones everyday and there are a bunch I rarely eat, so trying really hard to change it up a bit more.

I’m heading to the gym tonight to do the Week 2, Day 3 run of the Couch to 5K training program. I’m also going to do Workout B3 from New Rules of Lifting for Women (deadlifts, lat pulldowns, shoulder press, lunges, ball crunches). I LOVE this book and feel so strong after lifting.

I made Indian food last night (chicken tikka masala) and it has lots of turmeric in it so I guess I’m eating a super food and didn’t even know it!

Ugh. I hate mopping. That is my least favorite chore. I just feel like it does nothing, so I feel your pain. As for today’s workout, 2 easy miles after work followed by *hopefully* some full body toning.
