Strength Training At Home

Cross Training· My Life

Hello! How are ya? I started my day with a little strength training at home.

strength training for runners 2 (600x800)

I did this lil Biceps and Triceps workout from the comfort of my home while watching Big Women Big Love (just discovered it last night and am going to be obsessed).

Last night I was laying on the couch reading Wild and Vegas decided to cuddle up. He digs his claws in me so I don’t really like it, but this was too cute not to capture. (The book is awesome so far!)

Tip: Get a few dark chocolate covered almonds, cashews and cocoa toffee almonds from the bulk bins at the store for happiness. You’re welcome.

I’ve been super sick all week so I haven’t worked out since Sunday. Luckily I do have two pets who lay all over me, and under the covers, to nurse me back to health – they just happen to be like 110 pounds each.

The only thing I get from the bulk bin is Sunny Bears, vegan gummy bears from the organic market. But I don’t get there often so the last time I just ordered 2 pounds online. I went through those way faster than I should admit, they are sooooooo much better than regular gummy bears.

I was proud of my workout today bc I did one similar to one where I work and I was able to push through it by myself and not have an instructor motivating me or pushing me to finish. That felt good.

I am reading Wild now too! I am a little more than halfway through and am really enjoying it!

I read Wild over the summer – can’t wait to see the movie!
I’m heading to the gym to workout today since school was canceled the past two days and we were stuck inside!

My cat Boots is a snug bug!! As soon as I turn the tv on, he comes running from wherever he is and gets into my lap. Every single night. AS much as I love the snugging, my legs go numb after awhile. But, it does help me to not go into the kitchen and get snacks because I feel guilty disturbing him!

My pets (2 cats and one small dog) are all pretty cuddly and sleep with us. The smaller cat was on top of me last night!

I like wasabi peas and nutritional yeast from the bulk bins!

My husband just subscribed to Daily Burn and I am digging those home workouts to supplement running – especially the ab ones!

I did hills on a treadmill. Hate those things. From the bulk bins I buy quinoa. That’s really all I think. You look great!

I missed my workout this morning, I have not been sleeping well the last couple of nights so grabbed the extra couple of hours and will run after work instead. Unfortunately we don’t have bulk bins here, although I think I remember this being a thing when I was a kid. Shame, I do like chocolate covered almonds.

Quick short run around the neighbourhood to kickstart the day. I dig roasted cashews – plain is fine with me though I don’t mind honey glazed or salted too.

The book is so good and keeps getting better with every chapter! I finished it last weekend and really want to see the movie now.

I like to buy unsalted and salted pumpkin seeds from the bulk bins and mix them together in one container at home. Makes a good snack with an apple!

Today I did a bit of a bootcamp in my garage. 5 minutes of skipping, then 5 minutes of other exercises like push ups, crunches, lunges, planks, bicep curls etc. I repeated it 5 times.

I really enjoyed Wild the book! I’m hanging out to see the movie.

My dog Angus HAS to be touching you. He either sprawls across my lap, or lies right beside me. I kind of feel naked when he’s not there these days!

Workout today was 800m repeats. Speedwork = not fun (until it’s over). Including warm up and cool down I ended up at 6 miles.

My 80lb dog is certain he’s a lap dog and will sit with anyone who will let him. He LOVES people. All people.

I don’t think any of the stores near me have bulk bins – I used to get nutritional yeast from them – SO good on popcorn!

I love a great home workout, especially if it’s a quick one that gets my heart pounding! One workout I do in the morning to kick start my day is:

    Do 20 lunges (10 each leg), 10 burpees, 25 sit-ups, and a 1 minute wall squat. Repeat 3 times.

    Good luck!!

My dogs lay on my feet. If they were allowed on the couches they would totally lay on me! They love to be around people 🙂

I ran 4 miles today. First run in 17 days. Tried to let my knee rest but it isn’t 100 percent. Boo.

My labradoodle duncan is always laying on me. My Instagram ends up being way more cute doodle than running. It’s hard not to capture animal cuteness. 🙂

My cat walks all over me and then eventually lays down, but it’s a process. And he prefers to walk on my chest and block the TV. It’s his house…I just live there.

I ran 6 miles today and I CANNOT pass up the chocolate covered peanuts in the bulk bins. Ever.

My mini dachshund is attached to me permanently. I don’t mind though cause he’s all kinds of adorable. He even climbs in purse if he thinks I’m going somewhere.

And yes, I take him with…

If my 120 lb. lab climbs on me, he breaks my ribs. It happened, I swear!
