Tempo Tuesday in Brooks Pure Connect

Uncategorized

Happy Tuesday!

You guys know I am not a fan of speed work and avoid it at all costs. But, my main man Steve does speed work on Tuesdays and since my PR in LA he’s on a mission to beat me! So, I have turned Tuesday into Tempo Tuesday in an effort to do a makeshift speed session while not hating life.

brooks pure connect

Luckily, Brooks sent me a new pair of their Pure Connect shoes as incentive. I “save” these shoes for when I want to be speedy because they are so light. So, I kinda look forward to lacing these up and knocking out a few quicker miles once a week!

The yellow pair on the left is their older version I ran in last year. This new pair is lighter and I really like the black color. It’s so Kara.brooks pure connect

I love how the bottom is constructed on little pods to encourage forefoot strike! I’m really bad and land on my heel pretty hard = that puts the ‘brake’ on quick foot turnover. So the Pure Connect helps keep me on my toes. Get it?

Today is Peanut Butter and Jelly Day!

If you’re not feeling the usual PB&J sandwich try my super weird PB&J Omelet!

Question: When was the last time you had a PB&J sandwich?

It’s been too long…

Disclaimer: I am a Brooks Running Ambassador and was sent the shoes for free. All opinions are my own.

I eat PB&J at least once a week. It’s my go-to lunch for when I don’t feel like making a lunch at 6am before work (or after I made lunches for hubs and kids). It’s easy, protein plenty, and I make it on a sandwich flat/thin for extra fiber/protein. Add an apple and some pop-corners and you’ve got yourself a party! Well it’s not really a party, but it keeps the hungries away. 😀

I eat PB&J at least 5 times a week. I can’t help it, they’re easy and healthy (the way I do them), and I can run with them in my stomach and not regret it!

I eat Uncrustables for lunch every day! Freaking love those things! Especially now that they have a reduced sugar wheat bread version! NOM!
Those are some pretty cool looking shoes! 🙂 I like them!

Can I say now? Although it’s on a cracker rather than bread. Anything PB counts rights?

Oh I love the yellow ones better.

I eat a PB&J at least 3 times a week – is that tragic? They are just so portable and I’m in my car all day for work. I still love them. 🙂

Considering I eat peanut butter at just about every meal you would think one of the meals include a classic pb & j – nope. Can’t recall pb &j sandwich I’ve had. Closest I have come is a peanut butter on ezekial bread with blueberries and/or banana in place of jelly.

I saw these in the instagram pic you posted and started drooling – I freaking love that lime green! I’m still on the fence about the minimalist shoe, but I’m looking to start stepping up my cross training, so random question: any great recommendations for brands/shoes to try that make good cross train shoes?

Just got the PureConnect, except mine are the blue/green ones. I love them, but then again, I’m obsessed with Brooks! I haven’t had a PB&J in forever, but reading all the comments about them makes me wish I had some jelly in my fridge to make one!

I love these shoes too. I’ve been running in them the Pure Connect 2’s since last fall (courtesy of Brooks) and am now on my 3rd pair. They are great.

Brooks are really getting a lot of blog publicity lately. I’ve tried Brooks before and found them too bulky. Maybe they’re onto something with their lighter line.

As far as my PB&J partaking goes, I’ve had one in the past couple weeks; my boyfriend is a PB&J fiend, though, and eats them weekly. 😛

The Pure series shoes are very cute and I did like running in them but they don’t provide any stability. Please don’t use these use if you need a stability shoe. I ended up with bone fractures! The shoes never bothered me but once I switched to Brooks Adrenalines I knew it was my shoes that were affecting me!!!

Agree! The Pure shoes are VERY lightweight shoes, they are Brooks minimalist line. They’re not intended for someone who needs a lot of stability. Are you okay now Brooke? Fractures are rough 🙁

Actually the Ghosts were my ‘go to’ shoe for the longest time until I switched to the Flows. These aren’t my ‘all the time’ shoe – they are too light, but I love them.

SBJ’s (sunbutter jelly) sandwiches are a staple on weekends when I’m training over a bunch of hours and I want something easy on the tummy in between. Or scuba diving. At that point, I actually want the sugar calories of jelly so it works!

I have the Pure Connects and LOVE them. I’ve run one marathon in an old (white) pair and am training for my next in my second (bright green) pair! I can’t wait until after the race because I’m going to “treat” myself to a third pair, second generation. Yep, that is sort of nerdy.

Those shoes are so pretty 😉 and sound comfortable. I am not a PB&J person. I am pretty sure if I ever was surrounded by a large Blogging community I’d get lynched for my PB dislike.

BUT if you’re going to make one I suggest PB on both pieces of bread so the J doesn’t soak into and sogify the bread!

    I haven’t had a PB&J in a while.. Normally it’s just PB.. and no J..

I’ve missed commenting! Life got a little hectic 🙁

I think a mini PB&J should be consumed at some point today, even if it’s just on a rice cake for an afternoon snack. YUM!

I love those yellow/green ones! I am so sick of all the pinks and purples of shoes. I. like. bright. green. I only eat PB&J on hiking/backpacking trips and even then I prefer cheese and mustard. I like salty more than sweet.
